Many well known singers have been part of Eurovision. If we talk about famous around the world I guess we can start with Cliff Richard (UK 1968 and 1973), Julio Iglesias (Spain 1970), Mary Hopkin ( UK 1970), Olivia Newton-John (UK 1974), ABBA (Sweden 1974), Baccara (Luxemburg 1978) Spanish duo that represented Luxembourg just after their biggest hit 'yes sir, I can boogie' and of course Canadian Celine Dion who was asked to sing a song in French in the Swiss national final and went on to win Eurovision as well, in the most intense voting ever. In 2012 and 2013 the UK was also represented respectively by Engelbert Humperdinck and Bonnie Tyler, well known but maybe some years too late. And from other countries we have a lot of local stars in their own country or even maybe in their neighboring country. You should also do a reaction to 3rd places. A lot of great songs there. Love your videos 😁
You wondered which country hosted Eurovision with 4 countries winning? It was the Netherlands. It was often up to the Dutch people to host the song contest when a problem arose. The Netherlands simply had the money and resources to produce an event like this in a short amount of time.
8:21 I don't know what exactly happened in 1969 and a tie for the winner has never happened again, but today there are definitely some rules for tiebraking. Most notable examples are: 2012, when Bulgaria failed to qualify for the final even though they got the same amount of points as Norway. Norway advanced to the final since they got points from a larger number of countries. 2021, when we had a tie for 10th place in the final. Greece and Bulgaria both got 170 points, but Greece received more "12 points" than Bulgaria, so they ended up in tenth place. Side note: The UK has received 2nd place 16 times! Edit: Actually, 1991 was a tie for the first place, if anyone knows what happened there please elaborate
In 1991 France and Sweden tied with 146 points They had the same numbers of 12 points given by other countries so the juries looked the 10 points and Sweden received more 10 points so Carola won (i prefered France tho 'cause there was really unique sounds)
In the early years of the eurovision songcontest there werent many countries participating. So in fact being 2nd place three times in a row really is pretty good and it is still seen that way. 2nd place gets the same amount of attention as the nr 1 after its finished but the nr 1 has to do a lot of things like show up in shows and on and on. The 2nd place as I said gets the same amount of attention but they dont have to attend all kinds of shows and stuff, which are in many different countries.
Spain's 1973 entry Eres Tu became a worldwide hit! Too bad that Spain 🇪🇸 was a fascist terror dictatorship under dictator Franco until 1975. That was also the reason why Austria 🇦🇹 (my home country) didn't take part in the 1969 Song Contest as it was held in fascist Spain.
I already asked this in a previous reaction video - Is there a chance, that we can see full reactions of some songs and not just compilations? Becuase with some songs sadly there isn't much to see in the snippets. I really like the videos on this chanell and you are a very funny and joyfull person and as someone who is relative new in our ESC Family I really would like to see your reaction to some particular songs, that I think you would like to hear. 😁 Good luck with everything and to everybody who reads this - I wish a happy and nice day/week 😄
