When i was 12, I realised the look of a truly evil person. I watched a video of a interview in the states between a reporter and businesman (who had recently bought a drug/pharmaceutical company in one of the states) explained that he told the company he now owned to raise the price of a specific life saving drug for a rare chronic condition (one that this company had sole rights to produce and sell in that state, though i dont know which state it was in) 3 fold because that would allow them to increase their profits "nearly" 3 fold according to his analysts... when the reporter asked why he did it, he just said" for profits obviously" and it was perfectly legal, when the reporter asked does he realise that people will die from not being able to buy them anymore, he just said whilst smiling "it is legal and you can't sue me or my company over it" bastard right out went and said he knew he was killing people for profit and this was in 2009, at a news station interview. Like holy shit, the reporters face was shocked and the bastard actually got an even bigger smile from that. I remember this very well because it was after this video that I talked with my parents and found out about how America doesn't have public healthcare and the country actually doesn't consider healthcare a human right in the same way even former soviet block countries do.

Although if the torys get their way this is exactly how they'd like it to be, not to sure labour's NHS intentions either cos their chatting about privatisation as well. This is what it leads to 😢

In the Czech Republic, gun ownership is a right, you do exam (like driving licence, theory and practice), you can have gun, state has no say, concealed carry is mandatory. So, you have no idea, how many guns are here, but you do not see any and we are in top 10 safest countries... It is not about guns, but about culture... BTW: most armed nation in Europe is... Switzerland... They have automatic rifles at home...

As a British resident, the UK is a bad example of Europe being good, but it still is much better than the US. (If you want a good example take the Nordic countries, Denmark and Amsterdam.) Europe has freedom that is miles better than the US, and there is significantly better police and healthcare where we can actually deal with serious crime (although The UK is a bad example)

It's illegal in Australia too. They charge for ambulances in my State but you can pay a yearly membership of $50 for a single or $100 for a family and if you need one you just give them your member number. My son gets it free in his union dues which are tax deductable. Most have membership and pensioners i.e. disability, aged, unemployed etc don't pay.

​@@tkpsI'm in Queensland. Our ambulance service is free, we pay a few dollars extra on our electricity bill to fund it. We don't notice the extra on the bill, but I'm very grateful that we have it after I broke my ankle two years ago and needed a ride to the nearest hospital about 40 minutes away. All basically pre-paid through years of paying a bill I had to pay anyway. Very convenient.

Pepper spray banned in Italy as well... Europe in general has less than one tenth of the violent crimes per-capita than US, less beed to be armed.

Can attest to this. Am lithuanian. Once cracked an upper arm bone in kindergarten when i was about six. Got brought in to a hospital. Had to wait for a pretty long time to get it screened and put in plaster.

In both cases I had to wait for 4-6 hours to be seen by a doctor, while other patients, with more serious conditions were taken inn before me even, if they were brought inn hours later, than I entered the hospital.

When i was last in ER i would have been called in next, when an 80-year looking man came in with chest pains, obviously I stood aside and waited longer, so it took 30 minutes to get seen. But in regular / non-emergency care my longest wait was from 8AM to 2AM the next day (so 18 hours), that sucked. Some issues with the MRI machines caused a massive backup of patients. Overall i still prefer having wasted a day of my life once, than to waste weeks or months of my life cumulatively working to pay a debt back...

I used to work late nights in Canada and me then wife used to be scared for me walking home late at night in Canada because of American media, I never once encountreded any problems although two incidents in 10 years do come to mind.

​​@@BergenDev technically chemical weapons are illegal in war but not in civil disobedience. That's why police can use it against their own citizens around the world. The military have 2 modes. "War fighting", and "peace keeping" after the invasion succeeds. Their presence becomes a peacekeeping role and can use pepper spray to suppress civil disobedience and restore public order, not an act of war. It's called a loophole

yeah in Germany its similar. I got the Ambulance called for me because i passed out of drinking too much. They told me afterwards, if i had been over 18, i would have to pay for the ambulance ride, because it was no emergency. They just took me to the hospital laid me down, got me a bucket and waited till my mum picked me up.

You can choose which hospital to be transported to, but only within the area of the local health authority.

@@nicoladc89 well, not really. If you are in an emergency, the ambulance will take you to the nearest hospital equipped for that emergency. That is usually the case for the most severe cases: a person with third degree burns will go to the nearest hospital with a specialised burn department (grandi ustionati). But if you are already followed by a specific hospital and you want to be taken to the same one: the ambulance will usually comply. It's the case of people with chronic illnesses or maybe with a cancer.

Yeah big misconception many have. I once waited for 3-4 hours in the waiting room while having a sprained ankle (or something, i dont really remember why i was there), dealing with the pain. I mean it wasn't life threatening so it was okay tbh. EDIT: And i think many people dont go to the ER (Notaufnahme) by themselves, because they have a broken or twisted ankle.

You can end up waiting in all countries, including America. Emergency Rooms prioritize the most urgent cases, not the next in line. They will do a triage assessment and if your situation isn't life threatening you will get bumped down whenever someone with something more serious comes in. If it's life threatening, they will see you ASAP. If it's busy it can take a while. We have people showing up to emergency with minor complaints that a regular family doctor could handle in my country, and they basically wait until a staff member has spare time.

Yeah, my husband twisted his ankle (turned out it was broken) and we had to wait. With him being checked out, x-rayed etc all in all we were there for four hours and we considered us lucky as it was on a saturday so a busy day. But, damn, I'd rather wait 10 hours in a german Notaufnahme than being treated right away in a U.S. ER. 😅

There should be a way to discourage abuse of the system (i.e. using ambulance as a free taxi service to hospital in non emergency cases, or pranks). I wouldn't hesitate to call ambulance for an open fracture, but when my son twisted his ankle I drove him to ER.

There are some costs involved operating an ambulance so I would consider a reasonable amount to be paid normal.

I think they are constantly told they are free as a kind of brainwashing, so it wouldn't occur to people that America never got rid of slavery, they just repackaged it.

There are different kinds of freedom. There's "freedom to do..." and there's "freedom from...". American culture only really cares about the first one. When there's a conflict of freedoms only one person gets to keep theirs, and it's usually the richest person.

Yeah, people forget it's not a waiting list, it's a priority list. They always take the most serious condition first. If it's busy and your condition isn't life threatening you are not the priority.

Exactly. I broke my ankle and had to wait overnight in a hospital in Australia. Once I was seen by a doctor he stated that you wouldn’t want to be the people we saw before you. Triage is a thing.

Once I got hit by a motorcycle at a intersection (crossroads) while walking in the pedestrian crossing (the motorcyclist was coming on the wrong way on traffic and turned a blind corner straight into me), got tossed something like 8 meters, hit my head on the pavement and blacked out for, as I was told, 5 minute more or less. In less than 10 minutes EMTs where on the scene, stabilized me, put a collar on my neck, IV'ed me in painkillers and checked my vitals, ambulance brought me to a ECU (Emergency Care Unit - UPA), where they checked everything again, got x-rays, got CT scans and got MRI scans, I only had to way 6 hours to be discharge because the units senior orthopedist was in a surgery at another hospital and they wanted him to look over me to be sure I was ok and that nothing had gone by unnoticed.

Italy here. When I cut a piece of my thumb I've waited hours to see a doctor, but while I was in the emergency room, 4 patients arrived in code red (highest priority), arrived a 4/5 years old child with a broken arm (and children have a higher priority) etc... A nurse came to check the dressing I had done myself before going to the hospital to see if I needed another one and then I had to wait. It happens, especially in big hospitals. Emergency rooms deal with emergencies and no one can plan for emergencies. Well, you can plan for emergencies if the patients avoid the hospitals because they have to sell their car to pay.

If you don't feel well, book a ticket and travel insurance and as soon as you land go to hospital, enjoy your stay and lack of new debts 😂

New Zealand has also had one school shooting. It was in 1923. A man targeted and killed a 9 year old and a 13 year old, and injured 6 other students, one of whom had a limp for the rest of her life. The headmaster was shot in the jaw, and was paralysed in the right arm.

Yep, my father had a heart attack halfway up a Lake District mountain, he was flown 80 miles, free of charge, to the nearest specialist hospital on the other side of the country and operated on within hours, because of this he made a full recovery and survived another 17 years until he was 88.

It’s the same in the UK, the people with the worst problems get seen first, it doesn’t stop the right wing press whipping up campaigns for privatisation, even though they know that they are distorting the picture.

And when the poor Americans try to survive by small scale crime, they get prison. -The only service that is actually free to use to the public in the land of the poor and homeless people. The USA has 18 times more people in prison per C then my country, and they spend more on prison to the poor, then free education for everybody would cost.

Emergency rooms are emergency rooms, you cannot know how much you have to wait, at least you are dying and you don't wait. I'm Italian and I went to ER three times in my life, the first because I tripped and cut my forehead above my eyebrow, the second because I cut a piece of my thumb with a circular saw (breaking the bone). In all the cases they assigned me a yellow code (the second priority level after red), the third because I fell off my bike and hit my head. The first time, after a couple of hours I was already home with 8 stitches in my head and only because the doctors wanted to keep me under observation for a while, due to the blow to the head. The second I had to wait hours. The third I told the reception what had happened and after 25 seconds they were examining me (that time, however, they hospitalized me for one night as a precations).

I guess it depends a lot on where you live within the US.

In Australia I've never been worried about getting shot, ever, in over 40 years. There were never any guards at my high schools. I've only seen one non-uniformed person carrying a gun in the street. He had a pistol in a shoulder holster under his jacket and he was running down the street. I quickly realised he was a plain clothes cop. Despite what the NRA and gun nuts would have you believe; we still have guns in Australia. We just have sensible rules and restrictions around owning them, and we don't have a culture that glorifies and condones shooting people.

You can wait hours if you have to visit A&E on a Friday or Saturday evening. But it's true, I'd you have to wait you aren't an emergency. Took my daughter one time and, though there were loads of people in front of us, we were seen immediately. Luckily she checked out fine

@@NaeniaNightingale They do things like this in class divided underdeveloped countries run by the richest. In Russia wheelchairs cost more then recreational bikes. And the fooled Russians say it is a smart way of business, because sick people need wheelchairs more, and therefor are forced to pay whatever the seller come up with. Bet it is the same way in USA, since both are unfree nations without a free press, modern democratic rights, and things we take for granted in modern developed nations.

it isn't free in Belgium : about 60 - 70€ for a ride with an ambulance (no matter the distance) depending on your health insurance organisation. For transport with a helicopter the mileage counts.

Same in Norway. I remember people got sick from chocolate back in the late 80s, and we still make jokes about that brand of chocolate. We also had some e.coli bacteria in a batch of minced meat back in the 90s, making children sick.

Yeah I find it weard too and that’s something I would never do personally, why should I thank a murderer? Especially if they go to for example steal oil… no thanks.
