"It'll work. Just pour some water in it." Most german sentence ever.- Goes along with " there no cold weather, just wrong clothing." 😂😂😂 With love from Germany ❤🤘🏻
On that occasion, I always hear my mother's voice in my head when we children whined "We're bored." - "Go outside!" "But it's raining." - "Put on a jacket! And rubber boots."
Two thoughts: The report is about 15 years old. Essentially, a lot of things have remained the same, but only about a year ago there was a major reform of the training that placed more emphasis on teamwork and psychological observation of the participants. Today it's less about passing certain parts successfully and more about how the participants deal with the challenges. The program is of course still physically very tough, but other things have become equally important. In addition, the report does not show the actual KSK training, but only the entrance exam for the training: those who pass can begin the training. It is mentioned at 0:28 , I just wanted to emphasize it.
The hell week isn't the every day training of the KSK Commandos. That's just the selection process on who is to be trained as Commando. The every day training is a lot harder.
I am 61 and of course can't Pass it. But my son, 20, who is part of the german mountaneer special forces battalion, probably can. He is a short but powerful guy and I am proud of him!
And as a German i say, the entire nation can very proud of your son and should respect our Soldiers! That is not naturally! And an enormous achievement!
There is no german mountaineer special forces Batallion…. I know „special forces“ sounds cool, but there are only regular mountaineer batallions (im part of one myself)
14:20. A Brigadier General calls an Oberfeldwebel (Staff Seargeant) to an interview in a very formal way and the second the guy takes a seat he says "Wie hast du dir das gedacht, als du ...." Du, the informal address usually reserved for friends and families and generally equals. Formal would have been: "Wie haben sie das gedacht, als sie...." In that second it became clear that this guy has more or less passed and has joined the team.
7:40 That is the difference to other Militaries. He is just watching and the recruit knows, if I let this log fall down, I'm out. Without any word. There is no Marine-Screaming and no Army-Screaming. It's just silence. Pure silence.
I am German. (I am actually) and in the name of every german i highly thank you for not mocking the german history. I have seen many peoole reacting to germans and making fun of every word they hear wich is comepleatly resoectless. So thank you
At 2:20 they carried a Sandsack, in my basic Training we had to drag another Comrade. We chose the smallest One from the Group, he only weighed around 60 KG. We carried it with 4 Men on crooked Branches like here in the Video. And we had 3 Comrades in Reserve who always took over when someone couldn't take it anymore. So 7 Men to carry 1. So what actually sounds easy and doable in Theory was a hell of a Task when the Distance got longer and longer. The crooked Branches wobbling back and forth. digging deeper and deeper into your Shoulder by each Step. We tore each other apart verbally, collapsing out of sheer Desperation if the replacement Comrade didn't take over quickly enough. Unfortunately, it was very hot that Day and while we had to drag our Comrade from the Training Area (Truppenübungsplatz) to the Barracks, our Instructors walked next to us and drank iced Coke. And at 3:20 i am wondering, it's one of the first Things to learn, never put off your Boots during a March, because it's logical that your Feet will swell if you take off your Boots. Very bad Newbie Mistake here. The Instructor saying"Put Water in it" and the Soldier say "OK", i mean WTF. 1st: If i told my Instructor "OK", he would have kicked my Ass to Afghanistan. The corrrect Answer is "Jawohl Herr (insert Military Rank here)" and not "OK" 2nd: Putting Water in it is the worst , the second Thing after never put off your Boots during a March is to keep your Feets dry. ffs
Dude. At 3:20 they are preparing to swim.. like "in" the water.. and I guess he was referring to his swim-"Schuh".. In my basic training no one wanted to be the one being carried. Because being carried means you are going to rest while the others have to carry you. It is quite logical they won't admit "extra"-rest in the KSK hell week. And if you have the choice to put a sandbag or a human being (necessarily someone connected to the KSK) to be carried you probably choose not to have a human being carried. Because if these guys drop the human being it may injure. The sand bag won't complain..
I know exactly i wouldn't pass it ... tryed it two times and failed two times in Hell Week ... but hey at least i can say i tryed :D #NavyInfanterie #SeeBtl
I was in the german military, dont want to mention the unit. But boy, the instructurs fkd us for weeks. What i hated most was the running with a tree. 15 guys 1 big tree on all shoulders, then sprint from back to front 😅 rinse repeat for kilometers If you think bundeswehr is not capable, fk around find out Normal day was wake up in the middle of the night, get ready shave 5min, running, breakfast 5min, running, marching, classes, running and so on. After a while you learn to use every pause to sleep. 5min pause, sleep. 10 min pause to eat and drink, just shove all into you asap and sleep 5min. 😅 I loved it Winter training was nice too. One of our guys lost a toe.
I saw a video a few days ago where a guy from the Bundeswehr (Regular german Army) was training a hostage rescue with the Kommando Spezialkräfte (kinda Special Forces), he played hostage and was overwhelmed "It was so Overwhelming, I'm so relieved that this was only training with dummy rounds" and the guy from KSK just smirks "yeah about that" and shows him a mag of live rounds
The thing about to just stare and not motivate is, the soldier needs to get through this by their own. If they are deployed..they will be on their own as well.
In WW2 some Wehrmacht Infanterie Units had Marches with 100km and more because they had to follow the Tank Units like Rommels Ghost Division. But the truth is, they had massive Support by Panzerschokolade (Pervitin, Today known as Meth) 🤪
Übersetzter Text Jo Herr des Halbwissens, that's a pretty crazy story, but unfortunately just another half-truth! "Panzerschokolade" existed, right, but it existed in every other army, no matter which nation, often found among pilots. The media often portray it as if the Wehrmacht etc. was only so strong and efficient because of meth... Pure propaganda! You have to consider that consumption, depending on the amount, has its side effects etc., which made the Russian campaign and even more so the performance of the Wehrmacht and Co. impossible!
@@KillerYoudieso-dd3bw they usually relied on horse power to carry the heavy stuff the march pack of german wehrmacht soldiers was usually pretty light
Of course, you have to be quite fit to endure that. But the hardest challenge is mental. Fighting your own laziness, keeping up the spirit, that keeps you going.
05:30 the wearing not only their bag. Additional there are weapons an ammunition too. And some other stuff in the pockets.. So they have to carry 60-70 kg.11:38 You should try the German EPA (MRE) too..😂And no chance to pass this hell week. I passed a not comparable test in Schwarzenborn at my time at the BW, but this was only 24 hours, not a week.
funfact.. they shoot with real ammo during their heavy training missions they belive in "train as you fight" so they use real ammo in some instances they use training ammo ... but i think you did see what mindset do you need to be a part of KSK so yeah its pretty crazy that they use real ammo in hostage rescue training for example and to answer your question , physical i would be able to make it but menthaly i would fail within 72 hours
What was lost in translation, how casual the superiors talk to their men, even more casual than in civilian work. This is something which most American Soldiers won't understand, in the German military people only shout when they need to be heard from afar or need to compensate for something, in other words, small officers tend to yell a lot. And that is something you can find back to the 1870ths, the total opposite you sometimes see in movies.
We had to march 20 km with rifle and 20 Kg Bag on every Friday. The last 5 soldiers had to stay in the barraks over the weekend... a normality in 1987.
I come directly from Calw in Germany where the ksk is! You can often hear them training here and you can also often hear them shooting. They say this test is hell but they only want the best here! If I were still in good physical shape I would have taken part there too. Absolute dream!
In the so called hunger week of the "Einzelkämpferlehrgang", translated "lone warrior course", I lost 10 Kilo. You practically don't eat for a whole week (4 days), while doing extremely physically demanding tasks. The final week of this course comes somewhat close to the hell week shown here. 60-70% Almost all the tasks shown (river crossing at -15C°, transport of wounded, marching, traverse of a ravine) had been included as well. And I can agree on the term "they have defeated their own body". I could have never imagined to be able to do what I did in those 4 weeks, as well. You'll come to a point, where your body only hurts and tells you "that's it. you can't go any further". But this is only a mental barrier to protect your own body from damage through overload. If you can overcome this, you can do a lot more than that.
German professional soldiers- that military is beyond any known standards. They are intelligent, hard, strong - mentally and physically - and calm. As close as you can get to the perfect soldier. Each of them is pure excellence. It’s hard to grasp.
@@Jordan_C_Wilde exactly. i had so much fun in my time as a soldier, it was pretty much like summer camp all day - exept for the 20 kilometer marches, biwak and such
@@Jordan_C_Wilde You have no idea what you’re talking about.understand that there’s a huge difference between real professional soldiers and those involuntary boys who don’t get it, acting like in a summer camp.
YOU WILL BE A COLD AND CARING SOILDER! YOU WILL CONTROLL YOUR HATRED! YOU WILL BE OUR BEST! A friend of mine didn't even attend this training. His comander whanted him to go there but he just sayd "fuck that". :D
Not without reason the ksk is under the best elite forces and respected by others. And they dont yell at them cause the german military doesn't want to break their aspirants, they want them to reveal their hidden potential.
Funny thing is, that they end on friday and monday the training begins. In some interviews/podcasts, any former ksk soldier says, that the first trainings day (and every following) was harder than the whole hellweek lmao (wrote this in english because i know you guys are too lazy to translate it)
09:10 if you slip the log onto your foot, at the time I think, you got a single warning. But then you're definitely out. Also reminding like some others already did. This is just the entry exam .... the training to become special forces only begins after passing this. And it entails more than just this week.
We had one Sergant in our Company (Panzergrenadiere / Green Berrets), that passed the test by the KSK. He ran 35km with full gear in about 2 1/2 hours. Seemd like a normal build dude and was very calm. His legs looked like those from a Working Horse with all that muscles.
The phrase Hell Week and the exercises eg the lumber stick was stolen from the Navy, they called their 1st week of SEAL training in this way since their existing in the times of MAC-V.
Just to say it this is an Old video hellweek isnt that bad anymore because they had to much Failures and lost to much menpower. they looked at it and noticed it is mainly show not actualy usefull tests. they base the training now mostly on experiance from Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. they even considert to base one of the test from a Experiance my unit had but because the person in question broke (He is fine now) mentaly they considert it to harsh.
just the sweaty underwear would be too much for me 🤣. Imagine having to take a shit in the field and your underwear is wet and you have to pull the cold and wet pants up again.😖
Im in the German Scouts and we did something like that we walked 300km in10 days with also 25kg bag and i can tell you that was realy hard. One guy have to go to the Hospital after that.
I mean thats a little bit similiar to what the paratroopers in WWII (You know, Currahee) had to suffer. They too did some really brutal long marches and other very demanding stuff. And they sure as hell did it. Not for honour, not for personal gain, but because it's necessary (or it was at that time). I salute everyone who choose to go this kind of path or who choosed to in the past. And, yes, I would never ever pass that thing. I'm a scientist, I would fail so hard it would be hilarious (well, for you guys, not for me) :)
They know exactly what they are looking for ... This is a physical and psychological evaluation test.. They want the mental tough under preasure ones!! The real training will start after you passed this test..
The Backpack only is 25-30kg... The Rig is another ~15kg + Weapons The whole Equipent, everything together comes up to ~50kg "German soldiers don't fall, they drag themselves to death!"
Dear American soldiers, take care of your veterans mind the problems in your country and close your bases. If there's a war don't join it. Mind, what was the first and last helpful thing you guy's did for humanity.... I love you all and i wish your families only the best... Be blessed
I don't think that this is by any means special for special forces training or selection. They all push candidates over the line. I like the anti-Rambo attitude, but I would expect that to be the same in all European forces. There are quite a lot of videos about Marines training. They seem to be not only harder but also full of indoctrination and focused on breaking candidates (to rebuild them from scratch - sic). I find that disgusting and I'm happy that this is not in the foreground of KSK training. There is a difference between pushing people to and over their limits and treating them as tools to be forged.
one thing i never noticed before, at 1:49 the soldier in the center screen is wearing a badge with "88" on it (88 is commonly used to refer to Heil Mustache Man). considering germanys past and also the not so long ago KSK-affair concerning right wing-extremism etc. this does leave a really bitter taste, since even if all soldiers were numbered, the applicants were less than 80.
