Except that it is no satire ... it is a pretty factual representation of how the UK has behaved. It is, like the US, beyond rational, it is outright scary.
I thought it was hilarious 😆.🏴🇬🇧.what a lot of foreigners don’t understand about the British sense of humour is we love taking the Micky out of ourselves and others people.
@@binxbolling I first thought he ment people from Belgium because of Pommes Frites... But according to Oxford dictionary a pommy is a British Person...😂😂😂 So called by Aussies/Ozzys 🤘...(pomegranate which is slang for Immigrant)
@@dasmaurerle4347 I’m a pommie, living in Australia. That is, I was born in England. “Ten pound poms” is the name given to those who migrated from the UK to Australia in the 1950s, 60s, send 70s with their migration costs heavily subsidised by the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration. Aussies have slang terms for everyone, including themselves. Aussie = Australian Yank = American Pommie = British Wog = Mediterranean The list is virtually endless.
The "ZDF heute-show" YT channel has a separate playlist for all past Brexit-related clips that were manually subtitled in English (i.e. no YT auto-translated subtitles which are often subpar). Recommend watching them all. It's entertaining and good fun -- that is, if you can take a joke (as some UK commenters here apparently cannot). 😉
Very funny! And fascinating as a Brit to get German point of view of the whole situation. There are quite few here in the UK who never seem to have got the simple fact that if you are inside the EU, you are inside, but that if you are outside, you are outside. Seems obvious, but not to everyone! "But they are making us stand in the long queues at Passport Control, when we just used to walk through the EU members gate!"
Just read on a comment section of a black youtuber that a black person complained about having their British passport checked for ‚an inconceivably long time‘ when returning to the UK… Until a white Brit set them straight, explaining about all the regulations like 90 day visa or something, I don‘t quite remember….funny isn‘t it, that things change when you as a nation make drastic decisions?! 😬
@@MattyEngland 😂😂 You say that while the economy is in the gutter and public debt is worth hundreds of billions. Now we are out of the EU, the Dublin regulations no longer apply, so asylum seekers cannot be sent back to the EU. Net migration is increasing due to lack of workers. Well done Tories and brexiteers, you really won so many benefits!
@@treescape I never felt that she was fundamentally dishonest the way Johnson Truss, Sunak and Cameron were. I disagree with her politically, her 'hostile environment' policy as Home Secretary for example, but am willing to accept she wanted the best for her country. The other four just seem like they're only out for personal fame and riches
That was really funny, never seen it before😂. We don't make the best products at all - most of my electrical household stuff is German because it lasts longer and is much better quality. German toaster, German vacuum cleaner, German hairdryer, German washing machine and so on,though now, as a Brit, I will never be able to replace them with the same quality if/when I need to. Damn Brexit...
@@m_amen But its already difficult to get parts- looking for a replacement filter for the vacuum, and I don't mean a cheap generic one,and I can't get it...
The heute show is hilarious. There are so many good episodes covering a wide range of German, but also European and global politics, problems and developments... always in a great satirical way.
@@APCLZ Not in my eyes. They definitely make a lot of fun about all three reigning parties as well. As before about the Cdu under Merkel. So no, not in my eyes.
@@helixor9694 Bullshit. They make enough fun about the greens, the left party or chancellor Scholz. Sorry that this is not enough for your right conspiracy bubble.
@@blondkatze3547 This is the third time I've put this same reply up, so if any of you are complaining about my non abusive reply just to censor it, then that is a very unfriendly act. Im now putting it up in two halves......... "No, its British humour, just search YT and you'll find out why...."
@@artrandy It`s better to think positively. As said before, you don`t have to take the humor of comedians and satirists in Europe so seriously. It`s good for the soul when you can laugh without offending anyone.
Oh yes, well said, few people nowadays are able to laugh at themselves. The late Barry Humphries (in his famous role as Dame Edna Everage) once made a witty remark which I love, Edna said: “Never be afraid to laugh at yourself. After all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century.”
For the english people: Gernot Hassknecht can be literally translated to Gernot = "like to be and in need", Hassknecht = "hate servant". One of the most hilarious names i have came across. 😂 7:10 Btw. Guiness is from Ireland! 🤣 Really like to read the english people comments. Finally we got beyond the tiring sterotypes and talking.
Oh, we laughed about Donald Trump as well.... but the show is mainly about our own politics, because we can laugh best about ourselves. My suggestion for comedy is Xtra3. You may find great clips there as well.
That fits it very well. I guess in Britain they mixed up political satire with politics. Like someone who happily shoots himself into his knee. Maybe heute show can help to distinguish both from another?
The real irony here is that Margaret Thatcher, hailed as a hero by many Brexiteers, was the main driving force behind the development of the “single market”. She appointed Lord Cockfield to the European Commission with the express intention that he would develop concrete proposals for the EU to move towards operating as a single market.
Margaret Thatcher was a Eurosceptic. It was because of her anti-EU speech at Bruges, Belgium, opposing ever closer European ties in 1988 that led to her fellow Conservatives turning against her and her losing her position as Prime Minister, two years later. Yes, Margaret Thatcher became a Brexiteer as was the late, great Enoch Powell. Suck it up, buttercup.
Oh my goodness, that was harsh....but laugh out loud funny. I hadn't seen it before - and now I can't UNsee Theresa May dancing to Abba - whose idea was that I wonder? 😬 I love that you can appreciate the humour of this; as we often say...honorary Brit 🇬🇧 whether you like it or not... 😌
This satire show has a rather serious "twin". On public German television there is a daily news show "heute" (=today) at 7pm starting the prime time hours. This "heute show" follows the concept pretty much. They make great fun of all things that are better not taken as seriously as they are sometimes coming along, be it politically, socially, religiously, you name it. Sometimes it helps people understand better what is going on because behind or with the help of all the comedy and satire they explain very good what is going on... I guess they do have their own yt channel, so there should be a lot for you to be discovered.
This has another layer of humour knowing how it turned out and where these people are now... It's quite funny seeing how they spun everything and how they saw us...
Where it turned out? We have joined a new trade block with a growing GDP which will comfortably surpass the EU & none of the political nonsense and the demographics are growing not shrinking & being propped up with illegal migration swarming across the continent. The EU can’t defend its borders against migrants let alone Putin. The EU is an impotent defense union it needs the Anglosphere to defend it from a certain bear 😅
Ha yes, the "Heute Show" and "Extra 3" are my favorites, these programs also take aim at German politics and a wide variety of other topics and make great satire😅.
This show is my absolute favorite 👍🏽, and your reactions to it, I laughed out so loud several times, I had to tell my family what was happening 😂, thank you, that was great 👍🏽
I haven't watched TV for more than 20 years, but Germany has always had great shows like that. "Die Anstalt" comes to mind, many American RU-vidrs have reacted to this one about the Middle-East: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uHbStsy11j0.html
I didn‘t read the subtitles, so there may have been a bad translation. In any case, he didn‘t throw the Poles under the bus - he was making fun of the Brits who complained about all the Poles in Britain because of freedom of movement. I happened to be in London at the time of the vote. The day after the results were announced, there were reports of Polish workers finding notes on their windshields (windscreens 😂) noting with glee that they would now have to leave. Now Britain has a major shortage of workers in a number of industries because the Continental Europeans have had to leave (in part - it‘s not quite that simple). The Brits understood Brexit so badly that people of other origins (e.g. Indian) also found themselves confronted with people joyfully telling them they would have to leave as well! I‘m sure you know this, but just for the record - Guinness is Irish!
They have plenty about Trump. I just looked and there are at least 6 that are redily available. Just search for "Heute Show" and "Trump". Don't know if the subtitles will always be that good, though.
Well I thought it was funny..I know quite a few Germans and we all have a laugh (at each others expense), Us Brits probably have the most in common with Germany and the Netherlands ; shared ethnicity etc than we do with southern Europe..as a friend of mine put it. Northern Europe = beer drinkers , Southern Europe = wine drinkers
Thank God it's friday. The weekend has started, I drink some beers and at 22:30 the heute-Show is on air. This is a perfect start for a good weekend. So you have to react to the heute-Show at friday evening at 22:30 to get the same feeling we, the fans, have. 😎
That was hilarious! Right on the nail Joel. The 52% that voted to leave ought to be forced to watch this on a regular basis, if for no other reason than the fact that they were so gullible & easily led by self serving politicians who had nothing other than the ‘I put myself & party before the well being of the nation’. I’m still angry about this. Thanks Joel 👍👍👍
Why should you be "angry" at an act of democracy? Maybe you should be grateful for it, because with the AfD in second place in some German polls, and Nazi's being elected all over the continent, goosesteps will soon be heard in the European Parliament. Do you really want British politics to be associated with this new German rabble of Stormtroopers....?
The majority of politicians were pro-remain, dummy, and literally none of the things they said have come true. 🤣 Any economic issues right now are due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, and only idiots can't see that lol
@@daveofyorkshire301 books? I can name dozens lmao. Are they relevant? Probably not since most of the books I read are Fantasy or books like the ones from Dan Brown. I still understood what he was talking about. You didn't, clearly ETA: Trudi Canavan has some amazing books as well. Check them out 🥰
Don't think they are only bashing thr Brits - the main targets are german politicians. In the floors of the Bundestag some even try to flee when they detect an member of the heute-show team. 🤣
The "Heute - Show" is aired weekly, and I am always looking forward on watching it. The name itself is a little joke, because the same broadcaster's daily news go by the name of "Heute". I mean the serious ones. (Heute = Today). Ask YT for "Heute - Show" and you will for sure get a lot of results, even the current ones.
@@Herzschreiber yes, you're right, "The Daily Show" If you've watch the original, Olli Welke copied from is very similar in many details including rolling papers in his hands pretending to be a news anchor, reading the news.
Guiness is Irish... still in the EU :P Also for fish and chips they use fishes you can't find in the UK waters, they don't like their own fish, so they are importing it...
The funniest thing for me as a german is that while watching this with my family I didn't even realize how harsh it could seem to other people. Its just typical german humor, noone would say that if they really meant it xD
I really enjoy your channel , keep doing what you do. You really need to go to the Munich Oktoberfest. This is something so odd and special .. the behavior of foreign visitors getting wild .. priceless. Let me know when you need support for your flight ticket. Band: Electric Callboy Videos: Hypa Hypa / We Got the moves / Pump It / Tekkno Train / MC Thunder 1 and 2 / and many more… Start with Hypa Hypa. There was so many great reacting videos all around the world to that song.
There are few clips of "heute Show" on RU-vid today. They put the majority of clips out and only show them on the public tv station's own media library, the "ZDF mediathek". So there you will find more stuff of "heute Show".
As you might have seen, many videos from the Heute Show exist on RU-vid. I have a different suggestion: A real speech of a representative in the European Parliament. It's probably too short for a reaction video (1 minute), but you might like it anyways. The Title is: " Rede: Nico Semsrott und die Finanzkammer des Schreckens "
'Gernot Hassknecht' is a fictional , completely exaggerated "stereotypical German pub crawler" who knows "everything about everything". He always starts to rant in the most illogical ways about the current topic. Hassknecht, in this case a compound name of Hass = hate, and Knecht = servant. So he serves hate. Which is pretty much *all* he does. He's a regular feature of the heute Show.
I laughed with you, very funny your laughing ^^ JP, there are a lot more comedy shows in germany. Have you ever seen Kaya Yanar, Didi Hallervorden, Loriot, Otto, Volker Pispers, Michael Mittermaier? I don't know, if all are translated. German humour was ever underestimated, it's very direct and rough ;)
Guiness is owned by heineken (dutch i think) apart from that it s irish the fish for fish and chips is nowadays imported from norway and the potatoes might as well come from the european mainland…. so what exactly which products are they famous for? Lol
They used a pic of Guinness as a real English beer would have hurt the eye too much... maybe even would have caused traumas... After all, they are a responsible and caring satire show.
Hmm, I just ask myself why I watched your reaction to a TV show which I could just watch in my native language? Ah, I get it. It was because I wanted to see someone having fun while I am having fun watching a german TV show. 😆
"Zee" is a standard pronunciation of the letter Z, particularly in the USA - though the first known literary reference to "zee" was in an ENGLISH book, written by Thomas LYE (1621-84).
Heya and greetings from Germany! ^v^/ Yeah, the "Heute Show" is really one of the best political satire-shows we have, in my humble opinion. So very entertaining, also (or maybe especially) if you watch this along the "normal" news, because you will soon learn where exactly our own politicians/ higher-ups botched up as well, not only people from other countries. Because it doesn't matter what country or what current topic at hand, Welke and Co take on pretty much all that's currently featured in the news or has some other kind of significance, not only for Germany, but also the EU, UN or world in general. They always do an amazing job and this made me laugh so much every time I watch an episode. In Germany the humor can be a bit dark, hard to understand without proper translation and is often "blunt", but as you now had a chance to see for yourself, IS also very entertaining if you, as you said so yourself, don't take yourself too serious. It's a satire-show after all. XD As for your question about more content of the "ZDF Heute Show": They have their own channel here on YT as well. (Simply search for ZDF Heute Show) ;) Currently they are on summer-break, which usually lasts until September, sometimes more, sometimes less. But the rest of the year (more or less) they bring one episode a week. So yeah, lotta stuff. :3 Thank you for your reaction and have great day! ^^
Did you watch the America first ... Second videos? They were a reaction to trump's inauguration speech and came from popular comedy shows all over Europe and around the world
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WcH9eWBs9fw.htmlsi=_c224WhRbvvFN3P_ This is the Germany second video, but there are a lot of others, for example Denmark, Netherlands and Suisse
Dietmar Wischmeyer is the only solid german comedian, he is like a more eloquent Louis CK (meaning storytelling/structuring) mixed with the anger of Hassknecht. I hope … really really hope there are english subtitles and that the humor translates. He is the harsh and also on the Heute Show.
The first real reaction that's more than laughing or saying "this is funny" is at 5:50. That's slightly late for essentially just playing the HeuteShow's video
