There's a company in the Netherlands that has regular transports like this to and from their factory so all roundabouts in the area have a straight piece of tarmac over the middle so the trucks don't have to go round the roundabout
@JoriDiculous
@JoriDiculous 12 часов назад
Meanwhile in Oslo Norway, a few years ago they rebuild the main road to and from a cargo transport area (train to truck and vice versa), where of course the main usage of the road would be heavy cargo transport. And in their brilliance they made several roundabout because they are cool. And NON of them big enough for trucks to drive through. (This from the "company" responsible for more or less all road contractions in the country)

If we say "Gas Tank" in German it literally means gas tank - not for gasoline, but for LNG or other gas. That probably the reason why its so heavy (61 tons), to enable it to hold high pressure. Yes, its always a challenge to deliver stuff like that. I assume its no different in the US - not all factories are right next to a highway and have a on ramp. So they will have to navigate through towns and country roads, too.

To weigh in at 3:45 the fifth wheel in german is called Sattelplatte. "Saddle plate". The reason is the difference here in Germany between a "Saddle" trailer and a normal trailer. Normal trailers are the ones you hang behind your truck, the english tandems. Saddles are the ones, resting ON the semi, like a saddle on a horse. The english semi trailers. Hope this helps :)

@alexanderkupke920
@alexanderkupke920 День назад
as you mention wind turbines, there is (or was) a plant of wind turbine company Vestas near Husum if I remember right. They had special built roundabouts. for those oversize transports, they had a lane right across the roundabout that otherwise was closed of for traffic. Others in more industrial areas I have seen had a wide band of pavers that were not part of the actual road around the center, but made things a lot more comfortable for large transports.

In any case, the route is planned much in advance, to find one that fits and in case signposts... have to be temporarily removed.
@Mike-zx1kx
@Mike-zx1kx 11 часов назад
Yes! One thing are the transports from factories to sea ports but when transporting the huge ones to final destination, when on shore, it often are hilly areas and really "one of a kind" transports planned long ahead. The newest windmill from Vestas are higher than the Eiffel Tower! Insanely long blades. I though think they are primarily expected to be raised at coastlines or at sea. These should be raised around the world RIGHT NOW, as they can produce the bulk emission free electricity and energy for green hydrogen, that we globally need to transition to NOW. Soon these trucks can run on green hydrogen from the turbines and blades, they used to transport using fossil fuels. Will only make the transports even more impressive.
@alexanderkupke920
@alexanderkupke920 8 часов назад
@@la-go-xy alongside routes that may be used frequently, or if someone had the mind to think ahead, you may find those road signs being screw clamped into some sort of sockets. If not, out comes the angle grinder... considering what the whole transport costs, replacing a sign post isn´t really that big a deal.
@alexanderkupke920
@alexanderkupke920 7 часов назад
@@Mike-zx1kx When it comes to such transports at least in Germany, those have become an incredible factor in slowing down the project of building new wind turbines. Due to planing difficulties the companies at the moment file up to about 35 different routes, all different potential permits, as changing anything afterwards is somewhere between a pain in the rear to impossible and they never know if a city, county or whatever along the route does not permit the transpart in advance. Planning for especially those transports is estimated right now, to have about a 7 year lead time...

That feature disengages above 10Km/h. from there on it uses the Fifth wheel connection to control the rear axles. Its a system that relies on mechanics and partly computer input. The axles are loadbalancing with the computer control so whenever an axles goes over a hump. it will be lifted to keep equal pressure on all axles. To be honest... it is very, very rare that such transports are carried out during the day because of the traffic jams that result with it. Back then, I always drove at night with police escort who blocked off the streets and diverted traffic, and what you have to deal with most before you set off is the damn bureaucratic paperwork because from a certain size and/or weight onwards, the route has to be driven, measured and planned months in advance. But there are "permanent permits" for up to 3 meters wide (9.85 feet). Driving the route in advance is important to avoid obstacles. For example, it happened to me once that, despite the police checking the route themselves, I had to stop with my transport on the motorway because the "motorway maintenance department" had set up a "mobile 1 day-time construction site" and nobody knew about it because the crash barriers had to be repaired due to an accident

The gas tanks are for the storage of gaseous substances at low temperatures, so that they turn into a liquid. This way the pressure in the vessel stays relatively low compared when the same gas was liquified by compression alone. The outside of the tanks we see is the thin stainless cover of the insulation around the tank itself. Most likely these tanks are either for Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen or LNG. In Europe the word gas means literally any substance that is in gas form, but also to substances which are in gas form at ambient temperature but are made into a liquid by storage under pressure or at a low temperature.
