@tevlar

Guardiola prime Barcelona would still beat any team. No team has defined and changed football as much. Every player wanted to go to Barcelona. Getting a draw against Barcelona was like winning Champions League. Every team tried to copy their playstyle, or come up with tactics against it. Even the Spanish national team, coached by a former Real Madrid coach, let the Barcelona players have free reign on the team, and they won everything. And in the center of it all, was Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

The biggest rivalry in club sport. El Clasico. FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid. At it’s peak there was nothing more beautiful to watch and so many from around the world would tune in. Used to be the biggest club game of the year. You have to react. And it’s not just football. Their histories and conflict runs deep. We’re talking culture, tradition, politics, philosophy, civil war. There’s nothing that could describe the weight of those games and the atmosphere at one point in time. Just chills and goosebumps and overwhelm.

That Madrid was far better than the one that won CL thee times in a row in my opinion. It was just that Barcelona was pretty much unbeatable.

He belongs to the elite group of midfielders who could control the game alone. He made it look so effortless. The man was just gliding through the pitch. He was probably the most important player during Spain’s reign from 2007 - 2012.

If you're interested in learning about El Clasico - there is a really interesting video by Rabona TV called "How The Spanish Civil War Shaped El Clásico" which explains the reason why two teams that aren't even in the same city hate eachother so much.
@tevlar
@tevlar Год назад
well, he can also check how badly madrid treats catalonia since Franco time
@Jardermorder
@Jardermorder Год назад
@@tevlar that's what Catalonians want you to believe. They have special rights and privileges because the main parties usually get to the power by forming alliances with regional partiest (Catalan and Basque, mainly). They impose Catalan over Spanish (only 25% of school subjects are compulsory in Spanish), they boycott any shop that has signs written in Spanish as if they were Jews in WWII and they treat the rest of Spain with a moral superiority that can be sometimes disgusting. This is taking into account that less than half of Catalonians are independentists, but they're managing to kick people who like Spain out of the region through constant threatening and abuse. It's the epitome of "I was a victim in the past, I'll always be a victim and that gives me the right to mistreat anything to do with the oppressor".
@alpuzza
@alpuzza Год назад
I like Rabona TV but that video makes some claims that are bs. Spanish Civil War was too serious and it still haunts Spanish society too much to be trivialized by people who only have heard of it on a 10 min youtube video and/or read some internet comments. Using it for a football video without properly studying it and understanding it is disgraceful. I know it's much more work to read a book (and is too much to expect just for this channel), but for anyone really interested, the best explanation I've seen so far (in english) about the Madrid-Barça rivalry is Sid Lowe's "Fear and Loathing in La Liga: Barcelona Vs Real Madrid".

Can’t believe Iniesta is turning 39 years old today. I remember when I was little watching him play for Prime Barça and one of the reasons why I became a Barca fan. He was the best midfielder along with Xavi, for about 7 years straight (2008-2015). His performance vs Juventus in 2015 was my favorite, and he was also man of the match. Scoring the winning goal in 2010 World Cup, he had everything you wanted as a midfielder. It’s been a lot of talk about Prime Barça’s best midfielders of all time lately (Xavi, Busquets & Iniesta). Iniesta is simply one of the goats of midfielders, and for some, he is the goat midfielder.

i suggest watching Sergio Busquets, he's a cdm and played for Barcelona (still do, but not for long apparently), i think he is really interesting to watch, especially in a "tactical" sense, i don't think just a video will be enough but there's a lot of short videos about him, but if there's one video aout him i recommand "Sergio Busquets' Signature 90° Pass.." by AScomps dropping a few names too: Xavi, Carles Puyol, Casillas, Xabi Alonso, and in bonus Adama Traoré if you have the time, he's not a top player, lack a little bit of passing and shooting but he's one of the fastest and strongest player these past few years, every american reacting to him says he looks like a nfl player x)

Us spaniards are so proud of this man. He gave the World cup title in 2010 scoring against the Netherland. You should check out some videos about our national team between 2008 and 2012 (2 Eurocup and 1 Worldcup). You should also check out Xavi Hernández (current Barça coach) who played along side Iniesta in Barcelona and Spain national team. He had 300 IQ when it came to playmaking and vision. Sergio Busquets is one of the best defensive midfielder of all time. He reinvented the way his position is played it was very diferrent at the time. Iker Casillas is a legendary goalkeeper, probably up there with Buffon and Neuer. Puyol and Sergio Ramos are both legendary defenders from their time.

Iniesta is the only player to receive the Man of the Match award in a Champions League Final, World Cup Final and a Euros Final. As for other players. As you said Xavi and Messi were immense in tthat legendary Barca team from 10-15 yrs ago, but there is one player you may not have heard of, and that is Sergio Busquets, who's likely one of the best to ever play in defensive midfield, if not the VERY best. Matter of fact, just this week he announced he'll leave Barca at the end of the season after 18 years and over 700 appereances with the club, thus falls the last remaining player from the team that won the Champions League in 2011 - the team that is considered by many the best team in Club Footballs History. Then there is Xavi who along with the Busquets, Iniesta and Messi completed that infamous diamond in Barca's midfield. I personally really like AS Comps' compilations on these players. For a video on the infamous Barca team, MagicalMessi has a pretty strong video; ''FC Barcelona - The Glory Days'', not so much a documentary ut it shows the beautiful football they were able to bplay and their greatest moments. AS Comps also got two videos on the ''Tiki Taka'' style of football that Spain, and Barcelona used to completely dominate, and revolutionize football. You should really check out: ''A Spain Tiki-Taka Masterclass'' and ''A Barcelona Tiki-Taka Masterclass'', both by AS Comps. I'll try and stay unbiased here though and mention Real Madrid players too.They are insane in the Champions League, like really insane. They threepeated the Champions League a few years back and gets to the semi final or Final almost every year for 10 years, which is just ridicilous and the team who've won the competition the most (14) by far. I'm sure people will suggest video of the threepeat team that you should check out. Sergio Ramos, one of the best centre backs, certainly in Spain's history and also of all time led that legendary RM team as captain. Sergio Ramos - The Gladiator is a video many have reacted to. Iker Casillas came through the ranks of Real Madrid and is considered the best spanish goalkeeper ever if you're interested in that. Xabi Alonso and especially also Raul is worth checking out. Other spanish players from RM could be Emilio Butragueno, Fernando Hierro, Guti, or Alfredo di Stefano if you wanna throw it back in time a bit. Isco Alarcon also had a nice stint a few years back and could be quite entertaining to watch, but doesn't have the legend status of any of the players mentioned. Those are only spanosh from the two spanish giants however Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, David Silva, Fernando Torres were all immense in their times in England etc. For young spanish talent: Barcelona happen to (again) sit on many of them; Gavi, Pedri Gonzalez, Alejandro Balde. There is a lot in this comment as you see but for me its most important that you dive into the history of the two giants and their best eras, Cruyff's dream team and the Real Madrid Galacticos era from 20-30 years ago, and also the fierce rivalry between the two clubs; El Clasico. After a few years were RM and Barca have been rather ''friendly'' wit eachother it looks like its going back to very high tension between them again, the rivalry is heavily influenced by politics and cultural differences dating back to the spanish civil war in the 30s. Alot also because Catalonia, (the region in which Barcelona is capital, kind of like how Salt lake City is the capital of Utah in the US) wants to detach from Spain and be independent. Madrid being Spain's capital, well you could see how there's controversy there am sure. Okay im done

I know some people have already mentioned it but Derby and Clasico are 2 different things: Derby: Rivalry of two teams from the same city Clasico: A long-time historic rivarly between 2 teams that can be from the same city, country, continent or not. Although usually from the same Country. Clasicos examples: Barcelona vs. Real Madrid (Both from Spain, different Cities) Juventus vs. Inter. (Both from Italy, different cities) Boca Juniors vs. River Plate. (Both from Argentina, both from the same city "La Boca", so this is a Derby that became also a Clasico because of its importance to the Argentinian football, given the fact that these are the best 2 teams) Manchester United vs. Liverpool. (Both from England, different cities) Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund. (Both from Germany, different cities) Hope this helps to contextualize a little better ! ;)

El Classico is probably the most intense derby but the most watched Derby in the world and most watched football game outside of the world cup is Man U vs Liverpool watched by between 500m to 700M+ fans worldwide.
