The man was taken way to early. Its crazy to think he was only ever 70%/80% fit! Imagine 100%, Lomu!!!. RIP legend! I'm england rugby fan but Lomu against England putting our players literally on there arses was a spectacular sight of great rugby on display.

I love how he just steamrollered straight over Mike Katt in that game. Will Carling was so frustrated with Jonah. He said: "He's a freak! He shouldn't be allowed on the pitch!" MsG

6ft 5, could run the length of the field in only a fraction over 10 seconds, 265 pounds, could sidestep in full flight, Could pass, could kick. You were dead right when you said he was a walking rugby cheat code. And he did all that while suffering from a disease that shortly after the end of his international career would require him to first be on dialysis and shortly after require a kidney transplant. If he had ever run out on the field fully fit he would have torn a hole in the space time continuum.

Lomu was the first rugby superstar that brought the sport to the level of international professional excellence it is today. The 1999 World Cup semifinals vs France is still my all-time favourite rugby match, also because I'm French. If you haven't watched it, make yourself this favour, it's an absolute classic.

Respect for this, my man. I saw Jonah a few times over my long, and his tragically short life. Kids today should be taught to use these brave, honourable roll models as a yardstick. A great ambassador for all sport and for ‘how to’ life.

Jonah was a legend, he made it look easy but far from it, we were so lucky to see his skills for such a massive dude. Speed, agility, balance, strength he had it all!!! Gone to soon, r.i.p Jonah

The England one is the one everyone remembers, just for poor old Mike Catt looking like he'd been trampled by a horse but the France one is just insane, everything that made him special distilled into one clip. He had the speed and dexterity of someone 5 inches shorter and 60 lbs lighter.

Hey Flex. I had the honour of meeting Jonah when I was invited to take my son to a Wellington Hurricanes training session. Not only was he a fantastic rugby player, but also a awesome human being. He took time out to speak with my son and sign his rugby ball, even though he had just finished a brutal training session. I have to say that the day I heard of his passing, it broke my heart. The world certainly lost a truly wonderful person that day. RIP Jonah.

It was the NFL trying to take Lomu that made the ABs start getting paid for playing. Before that it was similar to the olympic teams where you are just representing the country while also having a career/job as your main occupation. He was literally the first ever "pro" rugby player here in NZ.

Lomu brought a big change to the game because he had all the skills and power to beat the best in the World. When other international sides worked out how to counter him, usually by dedicating 2 or 3 players to guard and stop him this just created opportunities for other players to score. Lomu's personal attitude was that he should be able to score no matter what, sometimes using speed, sometimes elusive steps, sometimes bulk and power, whatever skill he needed. He intimidated the opposition, it hurt to tackle him, even when his power was weakening from the ultimately fatal kidney disease. Just a legend, great to watch play and a great human being off the field.

@wernertukker5420

Hahaha I loved your reaction… you’re comment that he is a walking cheat code absolutely tore me up. It’s so true. The last try, vs England, is his most iconic try and most would say, THE most icon try in Rugby history. Alongside ‘the greatest try ever scored’ by the Barbarians against New Zealand way back in the 70’s. But my favourite Jonah Lomu try was the second last one, against the French, the one where you said he is a walking cheat code, that I, think is his greatest try as it showcases the absolute Raw Power and the sheer Brute force he generated! A monster of human. Yet, the most humble human you would’ve ever met. My only issue I ever had with him, is that he wasn’t South African. 😂😂 He single-handedly, changed the face of Rugby. After that, EVERYONE, wanted Big, Fast wingers. He is the prototype that has created the Rugby players we have today, who are all supreme athletes, and yet, I feel that even in the modern game, if he was unleashed like he was way back in 1995, he would still carve it up! Rest easy big man, and great reaction mate! PS - he never scored a try against South Africa, ( the Springboks) and it was in that 95 tournament, where he became this force that no one has really heard of, he was unstoppable, until he met the hosts, South Africa in the final. South Africa won 15-12 SA ( 3 penalties and 2 drop goals - all worth 3 points, and NZ with 3 penalties and a drop goal) A man name Joost van der Westhuizen, took a full flying Jonah Lomu, from the front, and stopped him dead in his tracks. Joost is only considered the best scrumhalf of all time. That changed the game and gave the South Africans the belief that they can stop him and win the World Cup. I suggest you do a reaction or at the very least, watch it in your own time. When Lomu got the ball and was in full flight, EVERY South African watching, was shitting themselves. That tackle, won us the World Cup. It was early on in the game. He then went on to make 3 more critical tackles on Lomu as the game went along. Just search Joost tackling Lomu. But the best tackle in that game and I personally think is the best tackle in rugby history, was by a player called Japie Mulder almost right towards the end of match, with the try line at Lomu’s mercy. It’s the perfect example of how a lion hunts its prey amongst all the chaos around him. I suggest you watch that too. We stopped him that day, And after that game, Lomu never managed to score a try against The Springboks. Although… that meant his team mates around him did 😂😂 I was blessed to have seen him play live a few times and so glad I grew up watching him destroy and conquer wherever he went. Not just a legend in Rugby, but a legend in World Sport! Rest In Peace Jonah and thank you for all the memories Ps Ps again hahaha… Jonah and Joost became very close friends and there is a video where Jonah went to South Africa and he visited Joost at his home, who had motor-neuron disease and has also since passed away… I recommend that you do a reaction on that, or again, just watch it. You; as a grown man, will cry lol Thanks again and great reaction.. keep up the good work and the good Word for Rugby! It’s rising in America and folks like you, are unofficial Ambassadors of the game, so thank you from a rugby fan

That was a nice commentary to our Rugby gentle giant, thank you. He was a one-off, no doubt about it. The World watched when he passed, he was the 1st and probably only Rugby Superstar, but more importantly, he was a very shy, lovely Man. Our World needs more like him to stay with us a little longer, sadly for us, this was not to be.

The Maori Mums will love you!I remember when he played against the South African Springbok, S.A. businessmen put a 5000Rand($) on Jonah's head for any player who could tackle & take him down in the test match. Sadly, he was very sick with Kidney disease at the time, it wasn't made public. I'd love to see your reaction to Jonah's funeral Haka's. React to "Jonah Lomu: Lord of the Wings". If you loved this, you will certainly love that video compilation. IMO the GOAT of rugby union because his athletic prowess on the field helped make the sport the professional sport it has become in the modern era. Before him there were not so many wingers his size, 6 foot 5" 262 Ibs running the 100 metres in 10.8 seconds, with such agility, balance and co-ordination.
