American Reacts to Red Velvet 레드벨벳 for the First Time!
Red Velvet does both the Kpopiest Kpop you'll ever hear and the best R&B songs in the Kpop industry. If you wanna hear some more R&B songs from them, I recommend Be Natural, Automatic, & Kingdom Come (Colored Lyric Video). If you want more bright pop, I recommend Dumb Dumb, Russian Roulette, Happiness (4 member debut), Ice Cream Cake (5 member debut), Feel My Rhythm, and Cosmic (just came out on Monday)
@@l0velyfl0wer Time To Love and Little Little are both amazing, but I feel like they don't compare to the heaven that is the three I recommended (closest songs would probably be underwater and one of these nights)
Random, but everyone knows the classic "big 3" are SM, YG, and JYP, but is YG kinda flopping a bit? Not the artists but the company itself, and HYBE is kinda like crawling up along them? istg If someone gets mad and decides to think that I'm trashing their group for some reason pls, seek help cuz I'm just asking about the company, not the artists)
@@drunkestdriver maybe yes but hype will never be the same level as yg ent no matter how many groups they have not forgetting all the hype drama last months + yg have baemon and treasure now and there’s a new girl group will debut :) blackpink’s comeback is soon. some people who are close to 2ne1 said the members will meet yg soon and some people are thinking that they will go to return to yg (i dont think so but hopefully yes) so yep i don’t think so!! YG is really big. that’s my opinion and thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@@wavfortriples Yep the famous Heejin blue cap x bang pd🙄. Felt bad for the lessera hate specifically sakura’s and eunchae :((. Im liking baemon so far but i just keep seeing people hating on them like, why… I heard sandara and the rest of 2ne1 are kinda active in their own way which is nice. Thanks for clearing it up
Side note: We kpop fans loves watching a content creator or a reactor journey to their fav groups such as watching them figuring out their names, characteristics and watching guides to them. We will eat all of those reactions up to guides on them and shows of them that will help you further understand the group as an individual. So please for any future videos, where you want to know and learn more of a specific group please check out and react to a guides on them which we will help and share to u the best ones to react to if you're down to doing it. It's kinda a bummer whenever in one video, you don't know anything bout the group then the next video, u suddenly know all about them. Nothing to do with this video though, just wanna let u know. When I have a reactor that I like such as you, I want to see the growth and journey of my fav groups and help u out in the comment if u have any questions regarding them. Other than that, hope u keep reacting to kpop, and don't stop yapping.
Red velvet is a really diverse group, with them having 'red' and 'velvet' concepts. Red being fun and joyfull (like red flavour) and velvet being darker (like bad boy). They have been around for quite a while, celebrating their 10th anniversary this year!! They are also under the same company as Aespa, but haven't been so active lately due to the companies focus being on the newer groups. They released a song a day ago called " Cosmic " that is inspired by midsommar, which you should definitelly check out!
Bad Boy was produced by The Stereotypes, which produced for Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber before. There's a full English version of Bad Boy recorded by Red Velvet themselves.
React to Riize please I think you'll like them👍🏻. They have very catchy and beautiful songs like Impossible, Love 119, Talk saxy (also Red velvet are from the same agency of riize)
I'd like to recommend you Riize, I know you said that the male groups you don't like very much but I think they have a very different style from stray kids. If you want to take a look at them, I'd really like to! 🧡
You should watch their songs: Psycho, In my dreams and dumb dumb!! They also had a comeback recently with a song called cosmic for their 10th anniversary I was waiting for a reve reaction since you started listening to these groups 😭
12:15 that's why Red Velvet is one of the most unique kpop girlgroups (or kpop idols in general). their concept in each era is SO DIFFERENT, yet still has this "Red Velvet Recipe" that only they can do pull it off. You should check out "Feel My Rhythm" and their recent comeback "Cosmic" !!
this songs is the most kpop songs to ever kpop. but i feel like 2015-2017 truly was the epitome of kpopness. most of the absolute legendary songs are from that time
I really like how you're always keeping it real and genuine with your reactions, it's very refreshing to see and I know everyone else appreciates it as well. I hope you continue to stay that way and don't overthink if you're being too "harsh" on songs because ur genuine reactions itself are already entertaining to watch. sorry english isn't my main language.
right! i hate how some reactors will give big reactions or just pretend to like everything just to please the viewers and keep them. hes being real with everything he's saying and he's even trying his best to analyze stuff further than the songs themselves, i love that a lot!!
omg thank you for reacting to red velvet! red velvet is one of the best groups that can do experimental well, their title tracks never miss, you should listen to their comeback called ‘cosmic’!
You know, I've listened to Red Flavor like 239048230948 times and to this day hadn't put together that the chorus is actually super melodically similar to the back half of the teenage dream chorus! That's awesome
Red Velvet discography is definitely one of the greatest in KPop history. Their genre versatility, the concept, the visual and the vocals are great even there's a connection among its songs that makes whole Red Velvet cult theory. So it came as no surprise that Billboard named Red Velvet as "The Best Idol Group Alive". I recommend u to watch and react all of RV's title track and some b-side MVs like Happiness, Be Natural, Ice Cream Cake, Automatic, Dumb Dumb, One of These Nights, Russian Roulette, Rookie, Peekaboo, Power Up, RBB, Zimzalabim, Umpah-Umpah, Psycho, Feel My Rhythm, Birthday, Chill Kill and the newest music entitled Cosmic. Their 3 Japanese releases are bop too btw.
“russian roulette” is definitely their “kpopiest” song, also the concept is INSANE (literally lol) and “zimzalabim” is an experience istg but the vocals???? unmatched (also, if u care about the vocals u should watch their “Killing Voice” video!!)
I think the reason you feel like red velvets older songs and mvs r katy perry coded is because you haven’t reacted to any 3rd gen groups. That kind of aesthetic was the norm for girl groups from 2016/17 lol.
One fun fact about Bad Boy: Red Velvet performed 'Bad Boy' on North Korea where Kim Jong Un, NK's great leader, is also present and watching Red Velvet's performance (aka the OG bad boy lol).
some recommendations: bibi : well honestly for everything, to me she is the best in kpop , she has great voice but mostly i like the genre of her music gidle : cool concepts, interesting vocals and i also like them cause they produce their own songs mamamoo : VOCALS, "kpop sound" (they will tell you to react to their killing voice video, the best would be to listen their songs before you react to that but they have a lot of songs, so if it gets recommended a lot maybe watch it as the very first video you listen from them before you hear any of their songs just to get a bit of everything) and for weird/fun react to psy , jyp (the artist. not the company in general)
Red Velvet are into their 10 year now and they are the 2nd best vocal group imo. The best vocal group is undisputedly Mamamoo who debuted 6 weeks before Red Velvet. I highly recommend reacting to Mamamoo next. Mr Ambiguous, Egotistic, Starry Night, Hip and I Miss You to begin with.
Red Velvet has a 143 song discography. You have scratched the surface. They have an extremely wide variety of sounds, looks, and meanings. As for captions, look up lyric videos. They are all CC'd. As for recommend: Psycho Automatic Be Natural Umpah Umpah Power Up Russian Roulette One Of These Nights Milky Way Well, as a fan: all of them
Listen to ‘Cosmic’ and ‘The Red Summer’ it’s two of some of my personal favorite albums by Red Velvet, with ‘Chill Kill’ a close one. They are known for their great b-sides, like ‘Kingdom Come’ or ‘Underwater’. Just find your own pace and find music you enjoy, but just wanted to share! RV ❤
red velvet is one of the best girl groups of all time truly. vocal queens and their mvs are so fun!! their mv lore is also crazy if you wanna dive down a rabbit hole😅😂 also the reason you cant find captions on SM's old music videos is because even when they started doing captions they never gave it to their artists' old music so anything before 2018(?) wont have it. that being said, RV songs like peek-a-boo, russian roulette, rbb etc have plots that are pretty easy to understand. RV also has english versions of bad boy and RBB (really bad boy) that quickly become earworms lol lastly, since you seem to like sm's music and style with aespa and red velvet, you might be receptive to exo as your first boy group you actually like more😅 they are known as some of the best male vocalists in kpop history. tempo and love shot are some suggestions. sorry for the long comment you reacting to RV made me geek out for a few minutes😅😂😂
Red Velvet is one of those rare groups where you see them experiment a lot and I love that. They were the second group I‘ve stanned the first one was Blackpink. And Red Velvet has one of the best fandoms ever!
Basically red is the more happy looking songs and velvet is the more feminine darker songs byt overall the concept is dark. Its assumed that the group is in s cult, following a dark leader, and one of them is the teachers pet helping in the brainwashing of her members but one of the being seulgi knows whats going on and gives hints.
I recently discovered your channel and I’m loving your kpop rabbit hole discovery. I feel like this happened to me as well. I’m a 90s hiphop/ R&B guy and I got into kpop though Blackpink. I think you should react to Automatic from Red velvet. It’s very Old school r&b vibes and I love this one. A lot of people recommending this song as well in the comments.
Around 1:40 in “Bad Boy” the instrumental cuts because lyric is something along the lines of “just listen to my voice”. Also if you get into RV on your own time, Wendy (the girl singing that part) might look slightly different from 2019-Now, because in December 2019 she fell off an 8ft platform in the dark when practicing for an award show. The song they were gonna promote was “Psycho” but she had to go on a hiatus to recover from the fall so any live performances of “Psycho” most likely won’t have her in it.
There is a strange happiness with the fact that I have watched your channel since you started posting. And it's only been a month. I have to thank RU-vid for changing the way video recommendations work and suggesting new content.
Red velvet have the best kpop discography & I’m not even a revluv Their besides🤌😩 Also you should’ve reacted to thier new comeback cosmic way better than I expected
5:09 since you mentioned time capsules.. if you're interested in reacting to older kpop songs, i'd recommend Girls Generation. They're under the same company with Red Velvet and Aespa:)
@@Daily0709 I agree. Reactions is fun and all but I actually want to immersed in KPOP. So I’ll probably do that and scour to discover the first modern KPOP song
Ok, check out Peek-a-boo, Psycho, Chill Kill, Feel my Rhythm, Russian Roulette and their latest Cosmic. This will give you a more accurate idea about what Red Velvet Concept is.
I'm not good at writing in English, but I really want you to listen to BIBI, she's a soloist, I recommend starting with the most famous ones like Vegeance, Animal Farm (my favorite) and KAZINO. And I'm very happy that you reacted to red velvet!! Hello from Brazil!
Thank u for giving us your opinions. U also made me remember how good they were because I have not listened to them in so long. 🥲 keep up the good work 👍🫡✨
If understanding the lyrics to kpop songs is a big deal for you, it's not for me, but if it's bothering you, fans make lyric videos all the time on youtube. Go and check one for Red Velvet's Bad Boy. Earlier Kpop videos may or may not have english captions. But newer m/v's will probaby have english captions. Also depends on the groups sometimes and how focused they are on reaching a global audience.
You should check out dreamcatcher. They're one of the most unique girl group i kpop. Their main sound consists of rock elements and metal. I think you'll really like them
I would have recommend Sistar. Because they are like vocal legends and known as summer queens . I think their song "give it to me" has lyrics, "touch my body" and "shake it"
as long as ur honest and express your opninions, its okay. kpop fans sometimes get triggered when someone doesn’t like their faves. but u keep doing u, dont mind them. u dont come across as a hater, just someone that needs to understand a song in order to enjoy it idk
I think youre more interested in girlgroups. I think you would like twice. Try watching 'perfect world' and 'fancy' by them. Fancy is a korean song and perfect world is japanese.
Red velvet has 2 sides The red side which is more bright, pop music Ex. Power up, queendom, dumb dumb And their velvet side which is more dark, r&b music Ex. Bad boy, psycho, automatic They also mix those 2 sides in some of their music Ex. Chill kill, peek a boo
You should react to their "Killing Voice" (There's a 30 minute video on the "dingo" channel) where you, in addition to knowing MANY of their songs, would get to know their best songs and hear the best of their vocals and rap all LIVE! I'm sure you'll love watching this video of them
oof SM ent (company RV is under) was NOTORIOUS back in the day, despite being one of the big main companies, for NEVER putting up eng captions on their videos (or if they did it would take MONTHS) to this day idk why they were so against it for some reason, but the videos that did get captions were from fan submitted captions back when youtube used to do that. Unfortunately they're also one of the few companies who didn't go back to add closed captions to old videos for some reason, goofy i know but most of their most recent videos from the last 5 yrs should have captions (hopefully) red velvet is definetaly one of the stronger girl groups to come out tho, as other people mentioned they have a pretty unique concept with Red songs (bright, lively, experimental at times, what you think about when you think KPOP) and Velvet songs (smooth, RnB inspired, vocals for days). Personally I enjoy their velvet songs, which tend to be majority B-sides but honestly part of the fun is just not knowing what you're gonna get during their next release so it'd be cool to check out more
day 2 trying to get you to react to exo, i recommend: "Obsession" (the video is very anime style) and "Tempo". to be honest, they don't rap much but their songs are a gem!! you should seriously give them a chance
Also listen to their new song cosmic. The song and video is amazing. There’s a red velvet rabbit hole that if you get into the lore of their music videos it gets fucking dark and it’s like they’re a fucked up cult and they’re like witches or some shit lol. Fun stuff man.
Bruh that's one long ass comment I just wrote god damn. Sorry bout that homie but I just gotta put you on to some heat. You missin out on some of that 2nd gen goodness. First off tho, love your reactions man. Unlike most people they feel genuine and you just say whatchu gotta say without sugarcoating it too much. If you really wanna see the captions of certain songs there's pretty much not a kpop song I can personally think of that doesn't have a lyric video made of by someone on youtube so you can check pretty much everything that way if you're not too lazy. As for more Red Velvet songs, you've only just scratched the surface. I've been a huge fan of them for many years now and their bsides is where it's really at (Some of my most favorites are Campfire, Little Little, About Love, Sassy Me, In & Out, Milkshake among many others but if I keep listing them I might as well write down all their songs lol). As for some of my favorite title tracks that you haven't checked out I think you'll really like RBB (Really Bad Boy) and Psycho. Anyway, enough about Red Velvet for now. You gotta check out T-ARA. I'm signing that contract here and now 🤣 I've been a kpop fan since 2011 and they're one of the groups that's dearest to my heart and that kinda really got me into kpop in the first place. I really think you'll like a lot of their songs. Starting off with some bangers there's Number Nine and Sugar Free and then moving on to some more chill/slower/sad songs there's Cry Cry (specifically the ballad version which I personally like more than the regular but that's personal preference) and Day by Day. They also have "Drama MV's" for Cry Cry, Lovey Dovey, Day by Day and Sexy Love (in this order) which are really cool "mini movie" type 15 min videos which follow a storyline and are all connected. The original videos don't have english subs but you can find them with english subs on youtube if you just type eng sub. It's really cool and unique and I don't recall seeing anyone else ever do things like that so it really stands out. Last but not least they were pretty much semi-disbanded or on a "hiatus" for a long time and lost two of their members but back in 2021 they had a comeback as a 4 member group with a song called Tiki Taka which was really good and I think you'll like as well. As for my personal favorite song of theirs that truly shows their vocals at their peak and as a full 6 member group I highly recommend checking out 느낌 아니까 or "Because I Know".
idk korean either (i think thats the case for most global kpop listeners), i just freestyle the korean lyrics while singing along. if you wanna understand it and not butcher it tho, you can just watch lyric videos (they have english & korean lyrics along with color coding to differentiate each member singing).
If you want more summery sounds from them I would recommend power up, blue lemonade, and with you. For more rnb, I would suggest kingdom come, perfect 10, so good, and automatic. All just for starters, not all will have music videos, if they don’t have music videos I suggest watching a colored lyric video, and if lyrics are a must I suggest ignoring music videos once seeing there’s no sub titles and watching colored lyrics videos.
