Sven-Erik “Svempa” Bergendahl has been building custom Scania semi trucks since 1970. The truck you see here is his latest creation called the Scania Chimera. Every piece on this truck was built around the amazing power plant. The engine is a 16.4 L (1,000 ci) V8 out of a Scania 730 and attached to it is a custom stainless steel exhaust system with six Holset turbochargers. The engine produces 1,460 horsepower but they plan on increasing that to 2,190 horsepower. The transmission is a modified Allison six-speed. Laxå Special Vehicles built the body using a Scania P-cab with R-cab components.
I actually saw one of Svempas creatures at Scania's 90th anniversary back in 1981... it was spitting fire and did a wheelie (unless my mind plays trick on me).
Svempa (Sven-Erik Bergendahl) is a true trucking legend, especially in Sweden. He's now 84 years old but still going strong it seems. Such a cool guy. Amazing builds over they years.

Such a fun channel..yeah that truck is truly something else! Built by Svempa, you should take a look at Scania R999 that he made too! They've built a lot of custom Scanias
If this Scania is a beast then look to the Daf trucks from 1980 to 1988 Jan de Rooij . These trucks drove the Dakar rally almost as fast as the group B rally cars. Very impressive.
I still have an old Dutch truck magazine at home called Truckstar from 2013. A few specifications from that magazine. the engine produces 2000 hp and has a top speed of 225 kilometres an hour , the engine is a 16 liter V8 with six turbos
According to a quick search it is a showroom truck made by Svempas. 6 Holset turbos, 16,4 litre V8 Scania engine, up to 2160 hp, modified 6 speed Allison transmission.
Svempas is a legend and has built loads of tow trucks show cars, check out the "Star truck" Scania R142H 1983. it really was an incredible truck, look up Black Widow, Gula änkan, Scania and Svempas have been working together since the 1970s. Svempas has built a variety of racing trucks over the years and seeing these on the track was pure pleasure.
I see the Chimera and the Red Pearl regularly, they often are parked behind Matcus Wallenberg hallen at Scanias headquarter in Södertälje Sweden where I work👍
that is not a race truck per se, as normally to qualify as such in a tractor unit category (circuits and hill climbs) requires the ability to fit a "notion" of a fifth wheel at regulation height, and for it to be fitted, its like so many things relating to Scania, just for show or just because they can.
You can't find out a lot about it because it's a touring truck (race truck) In Europe we have truck races ,like the dtm but with semi truck's ..keep it up .. I really enjoy the Chanel
I have driven in a race build Scania, with a poop load of BHP, and this was before i was even certified to drive such vehicles. It was of course also on closed private property as it was a driverless truck we had on the ferry's as cargo, so just needed to be drive off the ferry.
Svempa who built this has a deal with Scania. Scania males some Svempa special editions. This week I went to Scania demo center and tested some trucks. In the reception they had a Scania S770 Frost edition by Svempa.
Chimera - Greek mythology - A fire breathing female monster with the head of a lion. A name also used by TVR for their Chimera model along with their Cerberus (Satan's dog that guards the gates of hell). All nice fluffy and wholesome names 😀
no its done by svempes its just basically a rat rod but it has gone up against the volvo iron knight but check out BTRC (British truck racing then u see these race truck let loose and ive seen it and the red convertibl built and owned by svempas
Chimera, in Greek mythology, a fire-breathing female monster resembling a lion in the forepart, a goat in the middle, and a dragon behind. She devastated Caria and Lycia until she was slain by Bellerophon.8 Sept 2023
The Chimera is powered by a 16.4 liter V8. The Scania engine delivers 730 hp ex works. Not enough for a “monster truck” from Svempa: The Swedes therefore tune the engine to 1,460 hp, which can even be increased to 2,190 hp. Six turbochargers from Holset provide the power I Drive at Work a Scania ( Bochum Fire Department / Germany) i Love Scania
Hi Ian ,great video as alway .there are two other trucks you should check out.the green and black Beck-tds racing truck drift gymkmana and Mike Ryan in a Freightliner race truck at pikes peak in 2013.great incar(truck) and outside shots\sounds. If you get a bit bord there is always Aussie truck racing. I believe there is a long noise scania racing .lol.regards J.
You can see the interior of this trick in a Dutch video at 6:09 of « Dikke wagens, met o.a. de gruwelijke Scania Chimera op het Truckstar Festival 2018 » and there are many others amazing trucks 😜!
Nice videos, but... It's not Scania as in bAck, it's ScAnia as in blood or flood, or ChicAgo. Thanks. And keep up the good work. I salute you from Deva, Romania.
beautiful truck, but still think the double headed DAF used in Paris-Dakar bij team de Rooij back in the day was more awesome. different type of truck though, a bit of apples and pears to compare
Chimaera is pronounced kye - meer - a There was a bloke at work who kept going on about the TVR Chimaera and insisted it was pronounced Chim-ear-a, saying "I think you'll find it's pronounced Chim-ear-a".
Scania actually makes some very low cab units mostly for garbage collection to my knowledge. Some European cities have arch gates that normal trucks can't get through so it looks like they got chopped in half

Nope maybe the other way around, because the builder of this truck has been producing show trucks since the 1970's. The other one was started in the middle of the 90's.
Volvo claims their 2,400 HP "Volvo Iron Knight" is even faster - and it was just built to show off the serial produced Volvo I-Shift gearbox., and that it can handle the 6,000 Nm Torque. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sMbPD1eYydk.html

the search function includes things that is connected to you as a person if you are logged in, like where you live and so on. So if you live in the US and search for scania it typically down prioritize European results .. but becasue Scania don´t exist in the US, that have a very strange result.
@@automation7295 Not quite woke result, but nonsense result. Its that youtube think its helping you finding things that is relevant to you, not understanding that you want global results. Its pretty much a help for stupid people
Are yo sure its a V8? Six turbos would make me think its a huge V6..... But Scania doesnt make V6's, just inline 6's and V8's.... maybe it is V8 and has 4 turbos for each 2 cylinders, and two more , one each to help the other two?
