14:13 As a german i can say a few things about that You feel very connected to the people around you and like you are part of something really big. Nothing matters just your love for the club. Clubs, particularly in germany, have a special status in law. They are not companies people take great interest in. Its ... literally a club you can join. Which allows you to part-take in voting of the leading personell of the club (its works very similar to our political elections). Thus these clubs (sometimes more, sometimes less) really show and stand for the values of the people that are supporting it. Sometimes clubs even have a political identity. Like St. Pauli in Germany or Lazio Rom in Italy. I come from a "working town" that made a lot of money in coal and steel back in the day. And values like "hard work, always getting back up, blood sweat and tears" are deeply ingrained into the region. And thats also what we expect from the players, we dont expect technical brilliant, mind blowingly beautiful football. We want work horses that never give up. If they do that and lose thats totally fine.
@usuarioabsoluto

"Hard work, always getting back up, blood sweat and tears" and "We want work horses that never give up. If they do that and lose thats totally fine" sounds a loooot like shared values with Santiago Wanderers from Valparaíso, Chile, founded in 1892 as a response to the "local british bourgeoisie folks" residents in the city, who, back in time, practice football just as a "socialité activity".

You have to know that these light flare's are prohibited in most countries in Europe but they still get them inside the stands. In Europe football is a way of life and you support your team everywhere. Before I had kids I travelled to 10 different countries in Europe to support my team during European away games. The band you get with you fellow supporters is something unique. I've been to Ajax Amsterdam ( Netherlands ) a few times as well and it's amazing to experience the atmosphere over there!

Supporting your club in Europe can sometimes have very little to do with football, and be all about pride, patriotism, rivalries, politics and sometimes religion. It’s an escape from the real world and being an ultra is ultimate way for people to express their passion and love for their club. It’s really hard to put it into words, but it’s not just being a fan of a football club for them, it’s a way of life.

The one with the date 1944 was the tribute on the day of 73rd anniversary of Warsaw Uprising. We have a time in the day everyone in a whole country of Poland stands for few minutes in silence to honor the people who took a part in it and died for our freedom. It is called "W hour". @@jezlanejl What? Without Poland you would be speaking German too... And this day has nothing to do with Britain. On this day Britain was nowhere in sight when innocent people died slaughtered by Germans. If you want to say something like that you should at least know a bit of history or just about the date you are talking about. You just look a little stupid making statements like this offending the people who died there fighting for their country and those who fought in other battles fighting for yours and many other countries. P.S Britain helped only when they were endangered by Germany (I understand they didn't want to start a fight when they didn't have to) and many Poles died already so I don't know what I should thank Britain for. They helped sure but Poland was a good ally in the fight with Nazi Germany. At the end it was probably because of joint forces of Poland and Britain but Britain gave away Poland at the end to Russians so they betrayed Poland's trust.

Germany has a rule called the 50+1 rule, which means a football club can never be totally owned by outside investors, which means the fans tend to own their own clubs, as a result they are some of the most passionate fans in the world. When I was younger, I never missed a single match of the local team. It was a small team, it played at the regional level. But it was hot in the stadium. When a team from a neighboring city came to us, in 90% of cases everything ended in a grand fight. Everyone took part in it: fans, football players, coaches, police... Once we were losing 0-3, and the coach of our team asked me and a few other guys to cut the tires of the opponents' club bus. And we did it. And of course, we understood that in a few weeks we will go to play in the city of our rivals, and there we will be beaten, thrown stones and fireworks... But it was fun, it was a youth drive.
@Danny-Pedersen
@Danny-Pedersen 9 месяцев назад
You may not gonna read this, but sport, especially football in Europe, is our modern way of fighting eachother. Europe has been at war with itself for centuries, litterally centuries. Not one country havent been at war either with itself, or with another at some point in history. Modern sports, and the fan culture of the teams often has roots in the history of citys or regions fighting eachother. If you rewind to the part of Napoli and read the translation, you get the part of "And we defend this city!" So instead of actually fighting eachothers in wars, we support the teams we belong to, and through them, we "fight". So it can some times look very violent and chaotic, and some times it does get that. But however violent it may get at these games, it beats getting into actual wars.

You asked how they are all in sync. Well, when you visit a match of your club for the first time, you will learn the songs and celebrations by just taking part in it. If you don't understand some of the lyrics, you can ask anybody in your stand and they will be more than happy to help you as they see that you're a new fan (or maybe a visitor from another place that is interested in the club). Greetings from Germany!

It‘s something I recommend everybody who has never done this before! You push your team to the maximum and I‘ve had games that where almost lost and the crowd gone so wild that the team got new spirit and turned it around to win at the end. Those memories are not compareble to anything else

Ultras don't just chant about football but also about remembering historical events Especially in places like Turkey, Greece and Middle Eastern countries and North African countries they are also used to do protests and fuel protests. Why you might ask because the authorities will struggle if at all to identify in mass crowds and its televised. Now in the case of legia Warsaw in Poland the first one you saw was to do with historical remembrance of events that shouldn't be forgotten such as the atrocities in ww2 by Germany including ordinary German army units and the bravery of those that fought against Germany in the Warsaw uprising. The second one you saw was legia Warsaw ultras protesting against UEFA the governing body for football in Europe and calling UEFA greedy for always giving fines to Legia Warsaw ( some of the fines were justified) for way either fans behaved or lack of control from the club. So that tifo of UEFA as a pig and all the flares being lit was in protest and as a big fuck you to UEFA

I was home Naples Italy for the 2006 World Cup. EVERYBODY was watching the final match Italy v France on tv. If you muted the sound on your own set you would still hear it from the neighbours. When When the final whistle went and Italy won the whole bay of Naples lit up with fire works, the sound of horns and singing like we all were at the stadium. In Europe football is not a matter of life and death, it’s much more important than that!

Just so you know... In 2015 in France, there had been a terrorist assault on multiple places in Paris. One of them targeted the stadium where an international game (France - Germany) was being played. No one reacted on the first explosion of the first bomb. The second one, some players did understood it was weird, but still they continued to play. It's only after the game that everybody (including fans in the stadium) learned about the suicide bombs terrorists. By chance, they "only" manage to kill one person, because they couldn't come inside the stadium. Yeah, sometimes people use firecrackers so loud it sounds like a literal bomb, to the point to when a real bomb explode just at the entrance of the stadium, nobody flinch. Also, it is cool to see the good side of the Ultra, they really know how to put a show. But with their passion, they are also sometimes troublesome. Many many bad things happening with football fans is almost always related to ultra groups. Fights outside of inside the stadium, racists songs or slurs, aggression towards players or security agents, and the list can go on and on. It's really like a double edged sword. Sometimes the greatest thing in football, sometimes the worst...
