Voyager is from my city , the lead singer is a laywer by day , rocker by night ....super cool story. I get Imagine Dragon crossed with 80',s glam rock Vibes at the end of the song.
I bet, they crushed the semi finals, literally stole the show. So I know they are good live. I also can't stop listening to the song. I'm stoked to see them perform today
I love your reaction. They finished ninth - a little independent band from Perth. We hadn't sent a band before. We have a rock-band culture and we have never sent one before.
@@DaneBramageROCKS in recent years we haven't been doing well with the audience vote (if you saw their faces they were genuinely pleased to have scored double digits) plus we were still in the deadzone. If we had been where Jokers Out were we could very well may have finished fifth. But you have to remember that this is a little, old, prog rock band from far flung Perth - ninth is insane.
@@taniaphillips9766 yeah they did fantastic. But the story, because Australia isn't even a European country and we're originally put in as a filler then became a part of the competition. So, to be a non European country and do that well, that says a lot.
@@DaneBramageROCKS Invited as a filler is a simplification of our relationship with Eurovision. Our participating Broadcaster SBS (Special Broadcasting Service was started because of our huge ethinic population - Melbourne is the biggest Greek city outside Greece and anecdotally I believe there more people of Maltese extraction in Australia then there are people in Malta), started broadcasting Eurovision 40 years ago, then became the first country outside Europe to do it's own commentary and then to have a team on the ground. We took part as a halftime act to celebrate 30 years of SBS at Eurovision and our presentation resonated. So then we came back the next year and after that had an agreement that we could compete as long as we were competitve - we've hit top ten more times than not and came within a whisker of winning finishing second with Dami Im. The agreement ran out this year. But Johnny Logan who won two for Ireland was born in Aus and Gina G the last Brit to win was Australian, Olivia Newton John was top five for the UK. And of course we had two Australia acts in this year's event - Andrew from Cyprus was born and lives in Sydney and we almost had an Australian entrant from San Marino. When we first started to compete people thought we'd be a second UK entrant - but when Demi looked like she would win the rumours were that SBS had completed a deal with Germany for them to host it (we can't host because of the time difference). We have never really given the UK our votes and even last year Sam Ryder was not in our top 10 - we are considered part of the nordic block now.
I have the same pure joy listening to this song, thanks for some really thoughtful comments. One thing, it was actually Alex (bassist) not Scott (guitarist) with the scream/growl moment #notallbaldmen
Oh shoot, ok thanks for that clarification! I appreciate the reply, this was fun to watch and I have not stopped singing this song since I recorded it! LOL
@@DaneBramageROCKS All good, once you're a hardcore fan it's easy to tell them apart. Alex is the really good looking, insanely funny and super talented one, and Scott is the really good looking, insanely funny and super talented one ;)
