My view of america at the moment, is that it tends to swing violently between theocratic oligarchy and liberal oligarchy every 4-8 years, is the big empire fighting 7 wars around the world, while at home regions are collapsing into 3rd world poverty.
The things I love about the US are the television series and my BFF cause she's an American from Ohio who came here in Belgium in 2009 to be with her Belgian boyfriend (now husband). Her mentality is more European like Charlie's. The one thing that makes her very American is the fact that she does talk loud and she'll start a conversation with everyone. But I love that she's loud and extrovert, it helps introvert, shy me come out of my shell when we are together.
Not only the USA is divided, here in the Netherlands we're pretty divided too.I have some American friends and they're really nice people...niks mis mee(nothing wrong with it)like we say here in The Netherlands.Health care and infrastructure is way better in the Netherlands that's a fact.
Charlie, you're always welcome here in the Netherlands! I consider you almost Dutch! You can speak Nijmegen as it used to be! Now try Aalten, that's where I live close (6KM) to German border!... Drummer of AC~DC also lives here! He's got married with a girl in Aalten!
@@Lilygirl283 I reacted to LegionRides seeing he commented on yesterdays vid of Medieval torture wherehe said to have subbed due to that vid... and stop writing comments when you're infront of a mirror hun...
charlie, I love your kind of people who don't have eye flaps and live in a small world. Yes, we have in EU a lot of differant worse/better way of living than you in the USA but is it all better? Learning all the time, see the difference and make your dicision what you want in your live and that of your family.
A think the USA is a popular country to visit by Dutch people. In my former job all my colleagues have been on vacation to the USA. But when you are not in your twenties anymore the US is too scary to live. In former times the USA was a very popular country to immigrate to and start a business or have a high profile job. Now people are scared that the American way of life will be introduced in Europe and that we also will see more division in income and less social security and obese people that cannot afford healthcare. What we in Europe can learn from the Americans is the friendly way you guys watch football, in Europe soccer is almost a war and fans from different clubs have to sit separately.
Almost at war 🤣, we are at war, look Ajax, Feyenoord 😂 Johan Cruijff stadion , police escort for the Hooligans, looks like we are going to war against Germany 🤣
@@ItsCharlieVest Hi Charlie, you have already indicated in previous videos that you are in the Germany, Netherlands and Belgium region. would like to live ..and I am an old Limburger 57 years old .I live in a small town of Maaseik, Belgium, 1 kilometer from the Netherlands and 25 km from Germany. and I recognize a Limburg mentality in you. .. hey but forgive me .. if I'm wrong .
I can't find the truth story about Starbuck but with I heard is the story: In California (city?) I Dutch guy (in the 70ties) owned a coffee shop. College students loved it but he retired. So Some Student started a new company Starbuck
I thought Starbucks started in Seattle so I was a bit sceptic and googled it. Turns out you are right! Alfred Peet, born in Alkmaar, had his coffee shop in Berkeley (California) where he taught the 3 founders about coffee and roasting beans. They opened their first shop in Seattle, which at first was just selling beans and tea. By the way, Peet’s coffee still exists today with many shops in the US.
I wouldn't say that the Democrats and the Republicans are diametrically opposed to one another, like the guy at the beginning actually said. But I do agree with the way his words are translated in the subtitles: they just oppose each other. What I try to say is that on the political compass, both parties are quite close to each other in the authoritarian right quadrant, which implies that they are very similar. Yet they choose to disagree, making the decision-making impossible. Here in the Netherlands, politicians need to cooperate, and they often do. Even Jesse Klaver and Thierry Baudet occasionally cooperate, and if there are 2 Dutch politicians who really are polar opposites... But as soon as they find one topic they have in common, they start supporting each other on that one issue.
A dutch mountainman 😂, its the Netherland (lowlands) 🎉. They came to my Homeland Westfalia to make Holiday in Our Mountains (Sauerland)! Greetings to my neighborhood ❤.
Charlie, the argument that, in Europe, we have more countries around than in the USA doesn't stand: In Europe, there are 50 countries, in the USA, there are 50 States. I doubt that the culture in, say, New Yorrk is similar to that of Florida. The common language set apart, any American traveling through the USA would most crtainly be as disoriented as any European hopping from one country to another. Seeing the excellent film "Deliverance" for example, was quite an eye opener ... If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend you do: "Deliverance - Original Theatrical Trailer" - Warner Bros. On ordinary Americans vacationing in America!
Instant coffee is not very popular in Australia. Our coffee culture is more European : Italian. The problem with instant is the process which makes it soluble . Acrylamide is probably carcinogenic. Americans used to be the tallest but the lack of wages justice and the enabling of exploitation resulted in very uneven wealth distribution. The av height of nations goes up if everyone achieves their genetic potential for height . This cant happen if you have a significant section of the population malnourisged and stressed because of low pay and job insecurity . Scandinavians and Dutch have much more even wealth distribution and a higher standard of industrial relations
Born in the wrong country haha, i was born in the wrong century. I just hate the modern world way of living. Just being surrounded by nature and being more involved in your own community speaks more to me than the current way of living. Everyone hates each other nowadays. 😅
To me as European i would say that i like US Entertaiment industry , sure there are some exceptions becose of the woke culture and gender ''equality'' affecting movies etc.... but overall they are one of the best in making movies and music entertaiment. but only in last few years when videos about American citizens living abroad telling what shocked them really opened my eyes to see what US citizens struggle with. the cost of education and healthcare is astronomical compared to any other developed country. worker rights are almost non existent - like here you can't get fired on the spot without a reason , employer needs to tell you why and let you work for 2 more months so you can find other job. no mandatory paid vacation dictated by the state sounds absolutly nuts - no sick days or just a limited amount ( people don't choose if they want to be sick and for how long) these things just blew my mind away , mostly becose US is economic power but can't provide basic human rights to their citizens.
Keep in mind this is filmed in a western Dutch city, ask the same questions in cities, towns or villages in more rural areas and you'll get quite different feedback.
@@laziojohnny79no, rural Americans are about as dumber than city Americans. Any rural community besides America will say that “America is not a great country”. Face it, America is suffering from generational brain rot.
Well not to get too political but We Dutchies (in fact almost all European countries) are incredibly divided too (we cannot even form a functioning government). And trust me Trump has a lot of fans over here (four years of peace and no more wars) especially after the Biden disasters. Within 3-5 years five mates and I (lefties and rightwingers, (our politicians cannot work together but the (more grown up) populace in general don't care what someone's political leanings are) will visit your beautiful country (second time) hire a van and travel from NY to Louisiana. Anyways, Cheers and keep up the good Work mr. Vest ! (and remember the Low Countries are just one tiny Atlantic puddle away)
@@o_o825 People like that do so due to a lack of proper arguments or a lack of intelligence in general. Always a sign of poverty one way or another. But the Netherlands isn't leaving NATO, nore is the US, Trump just wants to get the Europeans to finally pay their share and rightly so. You're not going to a bar with friends and drink all night without chipping in either.
@@o_o825 Then what Dutch party says the Netherlands should leave NATO? Name one. Even that Russian funded nitwit Baudet changed his mind on that fantasy. But if you meant to say "leaving the EU", then you just showed us you shouldn't be allowed to vote. There are no parties in the Netherlands that want to leave NATO. Ergo, your comment is trollish as is the kremlin message it entails. Prettige dag gewenst.
@o_o825 yes you can vote for whom ever you like, but I very much doubt the USA will leave NATO for a long list of reasons. Only an idiot we would think that the US would leave.
