We just completed a large portion of the American River Trail and explored downtown Sacramento with our new friends Kevin and Jana.
Just a week before this ride, we didn’t know much about this trail and can honestly say if it wasn’t for them reaching out, we would not have completed it.
We cannot thank them enough for inviting us to join them on this amazing adventure, starting a new friendship, and surprising us with gluten free treats!
Even my dad was able to join!
Check out our latest ride on the American River Trail.

We started Roadtrippingpt as a way to share our adventures with family and friends as we travel the county working various assignments. Traveling as a career was never the plan, but it found us! Having lived in 8 different states, we wanted to document and share the beauty that is the United States**

You climbed all the way up to Fair Oaks Village and didn't stop at the Sunflower Drive In? Wonderful vegetarian cafe that has been there for 30+ years. Terrific nut burgers and smoothies

I haven’t seen Sacramento as much I have here in this video. I’ve been ther but just to capital area. And I don’t live too far as I’m from SF Bay Area.

The America River parks way starts at Mouth of the American River as it merges into The Sacramento River make your way to old Sacramento park in any of the four parking lots or the Amtrack terminal parking lot, then find the Sacramento Railroad Museum ride past to the river there a entrance to the trail along the Sacramento River about 1 mile cross the American River go under the bridge for the First mile of the trail. If you google earth shows the full trail Sacramento to Folsom round trip about 78 miles this trail was built 60 years ago. One of the nicest in the country. Enjoy.

My husband and I live here in Sacramento and I ride in front of the sac zoo every day on my bike commute to work. I never knew I could see the giraffes!! We rode that way today over to the river trail. Thanks so much for sharing your epic adventures.

This trail is my main training ride for RAGBRAI. I’ve ridden the full 64 miles several times in the past few weeks. I will be a newbie this year. See you in the Pork Belly camp! Are you going to be in Northern California for a while?
@TylerandKari
@TylerandKari Год назад
That’s such a great spot to train for Ragbrai. A good place to log long miles. Congrats on making it to Ragbrai this year! Look forward to meeting in pork belly camp. We unfortunately probably won’t be in Northern California until after Ragbrai. Have a few trips planned pre Ragbrai.

I think you would like riding the Bizz Johnson Trail out of Susanville California. It is a 25 mile gravel rail to trail conversion with trestles and tunnels. If you start in Susanville, it is all downhill after you turn around and the ride along the river is very scenic. No steep grades!
@TylerandKari

@@AWBabbage Oh awesome. We will add that one to our list of future rides. Sounds like something we would enjoy. thank you.

That stretch is nice to ride on. We would ride From Sac State to Natoma and back quite a bit. Here is some footage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qCQerbEj2Ys.htmlsi=R0H1mvTaXYAji1Pv

I love riding that trail! Interesting where you started and cool that I did't see any homeless. That's why I usually start in old town Folsom and ride up to the lake (a lot of gravel/dirt across the dam) take the Johnny Cash trail back. I didn't see the Nimbus fish hatchery, which is a must see in November when the salmon are running. So you'll have to go back. I'll be looking for you at RAGBRAI! I'm on Team Inferno are you guys rolling with Pork Bellies? what are Kevin and Jana's plans.
@TylerandKari

It was a new one for us and we loved it. Great trail and good way to put on some miles without cars. We look forward to eventually exploring more up that way towards Folsom. We completely forgot to explore the fish hatchery. That would be a beautiful sight with the salmon. Gives us a reason to return. Look forward to meeting at Ragbrai! We will keep an eye out for team inferno. Yup, we are with pork belly again. From what I understand, Jana won’t be there, but Kevin will! Definitely keep an eye out for him as well.

@@karitorres8607 Its a full day ride even starting in Folsum. Ride to the lake and across the dam. Super fun dirt/gravel, don't miss the turn for the JC trail back to Folsum old town lots of cool stuff Must see Nimbus fish hatchery in November when the Salmon are running, old PG&E hydro power plant, lunch at the 2nd floor Mexican restaurant, Mike's bike shopping....I haven't ridden the lower part in a long time there were many homeless people down by the city I hope that has changed.

I’m new to using Strava, however I did just try to add the Strava route on the RU-vid video description. It should be within the text titled STRAVA. Also, if you know of anyway that works better for future sharing please let me know. 👍

Some of my old footage from the ARBT as well. Highly recommend riding between East Sacramento and Folsom depending on your fitness level and desired distance. Closer to downtown is sketchy. Here is my older group ride footage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qCQerbEj2Ys.htmlsi=R0H1mvTaXYAji1Pv

They ruined it when they paved it, we used to ride our mini bikes from downtown to Lake Natoma. We used to camp along there when we were kids and now the put up a bunch of parking lots, can't even go to the river without paying to walk dow to the water.
@TylerandKari
@TylerandKari 5 месяцев назад
Was it all just gravel or dirt before? Sounds nice being able to camp before.
@armadilllo

@ippingpt Just dirt and river rock when you got towards Rancho Cordova. They had motorcycles hill climbs up by hazel on those bluffs and jet boat drag races on Lake Natoma. We used to take our .22s and did target practice at the river too. My dad wanted to buy all the land at Sunrise and Hwy 50 and my mom wouldn't let him, she said "Why would we buy a bunch of rocks in the middle of nowhere? We're not using our savings for that!"🤣🤣

Watch out for crazy homeless from encampments, lots of assaults on women around there

I could see that. Some areas were questionable down town. We went with some locals that knew the area well that definitely helped us out.
