We Germans use the word "Dino" as an abreveation for "Dinosaurier" (in English "dinosaur"), "Teller" is German for "plate". Combined, this gives us "Dinoteller", which sounds similar to "die Nutella". And we Germans just can't decide on which pronoun (der, die, das) is the correct one for Nutella, although I believe "der Nutella" is generally considered as wrong.

About the financial officer: Craftsmen sometimes tell their clients to not demand a bill. That way, the costs for the client are lower, and the craftsman can cheat on how much taxes he has to pay. It's technically illegal, but is also widely reguarded as a "Kavalliersdelikt" (a trivial offense that may be beneficial to more people, that can go under the radar) to the populace. A financial officer however, can obviously NOT ignore if the tradesman tries to cheat a bit with their price. So it's awkward when the tradesman doesn't get the hint that he's openly committing to a crime.

13:58 German dialects aren’t standardised, meaning there is no definitive spelling or grammar. So when people try to write in their dialects they have to make it up as they go along and nobody can read it.
@michaelburggraf2822
@michaelburggraf2822 Год назад
Wrong. It's actually great fun to try because in German the spelling of words is following their pronounciation pretty closely. However you can run out of appropriate letters in German. But then there are other alphabets too - providing stuff like å and ø. Swabian has an additional level of difficulty because vowels are nasal sometimes. For example the German word "ungefähr" (like, about) can be spelt "ångfähr". But the combination "ån" would have to be pronounced as a nasal sound yet a bit more open than the french word "on".
@asmodon
@asmodon Год назад
@@michaelburggraf2822 That’s the exact opposite of a standardised language. Thanks for proving my point.
@michaelburggraf2822
@michaelburggraf2822 Год назад
@@asmodon well, actually I've realized that too after sending the comment. However the basic relation between spelling and pronounciation can be regarded as being standardized. Which isn't particularly helpful if a dialect is changing between every pair of dung heaps though.

@HenryLoenwind
@HenryLoenwind Год назад
@@mercatorjubio3804 Indeed. When hearing another dialect, you can hear it's a that, and the person isn't too dumb to speak properly. When reading it, ... (Especially when the writer made the spelling up on the go and didn't use one of the dialect alphabets.)

@MrOrmanley Год назад
The one responding to the tweet at 1:17 (Punica) is a german juice company. I dont know why they of all thought they needed to respond, but seeing as they responded in english, maybe they considered that AH didn't like "juice" and felt they had to correct 👍 The guys at 2:15 look like skinheads/Neo Nazis/modern fashists, which are typically bald 2:36 Not getting a receit means moonlighting (unofficial work). The german word for it is Schwarzarbeit, which literally translates to black work, hence the picture 3:25 I think the meme here, picture-wise, is that if you have less work days, its a given that you have less absent days automatically. It's like "DUH!" 4:05 A Wasserwaage is literally a water scale. You use it to make things level in construction work. You observe when the bubble is perfectly in the middle, which is indicating the scale is level. And yes, the english word is spirit level🤷‍♂. The joke here is that there is no spare bubbles. That'd just be air. They are messing with the trainee, waiting to see how long it will take him until he figures out he's been fooled. 6:35 Die Grünen/The greens is simply put germanies' Hippy Party. Green energy, animal rights, eat vegan and so forth. So the joke is even when people vote them, they'd still eat meat. Meanwhile the french go on barricades if macron eats the wrong müsli/muesli. Muesli is essentially morning cereal, but healthy (oatmeal and other cereal with raisins/other tried fruit and nuts. I guess the french are just more serious about their politics is the joke. The story at 10:15 is a little harder to translate, because it involves dialect and cussing in dialect but I'll try; Wife: Oh shit, when he sees that (the tourist spot is closed), uuuh Husband: A quick wheat beer? *soft cursing/complaining in german as he struggles his way up* Cruzifix! (jesus cross) here, *more swearing* kiss my ass here with this hiking hiking hiking. A quick wheat bear and we can continue. Wife: Honey that's not gonna happen. Husband: Why not? Wife: Honey, they are closed. Husband: hard cursing: JA LECK MICH DOCH AM ARSCH, LECK MICH DOCH AM ARSCH! SO EIN SCHEIßDRECK! DA PISS ICH DRAUF. DAS GIBTS JA NICHT! DA GEH' ICH WIEDER ZURÜCK! DA LAUF ICH DREI STUNDEN DIESEN DRECKSBERG RAUF! DREI STUNDEN! UND DANN IST DIE SCHEIß HAUSTÜR ZU! DAS GIBTS JA NICHT! CRUZIFIX (Kiss my ass, why dont you?! such a shitty thing! I'm pissing on that! Can't be happening! I'll be going back! I'm hiking three hours up this shitty mountain and the shitty door is closed? Can't be happening! Jesus cross!) Wife: Well, let's go back home then. Husband: Well sure another 2 hours! tdlr: the man wanted a beer after a 3h hike and was left parched in the sticks, having to walk all the way back. Never seperate a german or austrian from his beer, it means war. 12:21 I have a feeling that we'll see a lot of arson, and a lot of reluctant fire fighters in the future. 14:00 is a double joke. German uses the articles of der/die/das instead of just "the", like english. Der is masculine, die is feminine, and das is neutral. Nutella is not a german word, so there's no definite rule to it and everyone's just using what they are comfortable for. It goes first with der, then das. The logical conclusion is then that the third picture would say "Die Nutella". However instead it shows a plate with dinosaurs on it. Plate in german means Teller, and short for Dinosarier/Dinosaur is Dino. So the last plate is essentially Dinoteller/Die Nutella , which sounds the same. It's a pun 😉 17:36 The word Saupreis is bavarian dialect and means Saupreuße (Pig Prussian). Bavaria has had beef with Prussia like a century ago and I guess some bavarians are jerks about it. I dont know if it extends to other german regions or other countries though. Kölsch is the regional beer of Köln/Cologne, which is germanies city of carneval (for them its the 5th season of the year). Müsli is not trail-mix/Studentenfutter. It's explained further up.

The joke is in referring to it as "Klotz", which is a colloquial word best translated as "clump" used to referr to everything from pieces of firewood to fat people. It mocks the simplicity of stacking pieces of wood ontop of each other and making it look like something special with the "known from radio and TV (ads)" caption. Most of these sets I have seen were gifted by woodworking companies to the Kindergartens, though I guess you can buy them too.

In both cases I was about 20 km/h above the speed limit but got a ticket which told me it was only something about 5 - 10 km/h. So no big deal. I learned from many other drivers, that you can drive about 10 km/h above the speedlimit but it happens to be more common for people who don't recognize the speed limit, that they would slow down to 10 - 30 km/h below speed limit, if they know there is a camera. Nobody knows why.

In all professions there is probably one or the other part / device / machine / thing that doesn't actually exist and that the trainee should then fetch. Is actually a good test to find out whether the apprentice can think for himself or just blindly follows orders. When I learned my job (I'm a cook) there were things like "the raisin gun" or "the caraway seed splitting machine"🤣 that you should get....and an intelligent person naturally wonders why you should split caraway or raisins shoot in the cake .
