Americana Hotel (On The Boardwalk) 2024 Full Walkthrough/ Ocean City MD 

I am a retired hotel manager living in West Palm Beach, Florida. My Ocean City connection is that I started my hotel career there in the summer 1971. There was a famous restaurant there on 21st Street & Philadelphia Ave called Phillips Crab House owned & operated by the Phillips family. It was a very popular restaurant with tourists & could seat 1,100 guests. I traveled all over the US managing hotels for the next 38 years. Little did I know at the start of my career in Ocean City the summer of 1971 that the hotel that I would retire from would also have an Ocean City connection! In 2009 I retired from the Holiday Inn Airport, West Palm Beach, Florida. That hotel was owned by the Phillips family of Ocean City, Maryland. Brice & Shirley Phillips (RIP) were the BEST owners I ever worked for! Almost daily I watch the OCMD webcams on the boardwalk because it brings back so many fond memories of the early days of my career.

Nice hotel. That pool would be a blessing on a rainy day, especially with kids.

Hi John and Bobbie. That hotel looks simple and clean and the price is right. I don’t need anything fancy and as long as it’s clean and has a bathroom with shower. Why pay more for a place you will hardly be in. The ocean view is a bonus and overall a good hotel to stay in❤️

Happy Monday 😊. Very nice tour and review. We have never been to Ocean City. Do like a nice beach visit every ten or fifteen years 😅. Prefer the mountains with its peace and quietness. What a great vacation at a beach town... Hope you had lots of seafood..

Nothing fancy, but wow what a great view. If you are at the beach and you can get a room with a view at a decent price you are lucky. It looks like all you need and like you said, no need for a pool at the beach. My husband and I are all about the off season visits to places that swell to capacity in the Summer months, we love the more relaxing times now and of course we don't mind the off season pricing it offers. Thanks for sharing.

Hi John and Bobbie! Looks like you had a great vacation in Ocean City, MD. It really is expensive on the E. COAST!!! But the Americana is a wonderfully priced hotel to stay at. Has most of the emenities. Beautiful view on the ocean front. All the resteraunts on the boardwalk. Plus very quiet just before Memorial Day. Beautiful Atlantic Ocean. We went to the Atlantic City, NJ boardwalk when I was a child. Dad was stationed at McGuire AFB which is closed now.

As far as motels are concerned Ocean City is pretty cheap compared to anywhere north of there where if you went to a beach resort town along the Jersey coast you're going to pay $200 to $400 a night and even more on Long Island New York and New England. In Myrtle Beach off season like in the month of September October you could actually find beachfront for around $60 a night but not all the motels are that cheap but there are a few. Myrtle Beach also has super cheap gasoline. And there are 2000 restaurants in Myrtle Beach and at least 50 seafood buffets.❤

You two always give great options on great places to stay that won't break the budget. One day maybe I can go stay here maybe in off season. Thanks so much and will have to try the Alaska burgers too

I would park in the overflow underneath in the shade to keep the car cool . When I park at OC I don't move the car till its time to leave. Thanks for the hotel tour adding to my list of safe hotel

Never been to the Maryland shore. Grew up on the Jersey shore. I can see some similarities. The prices in the summer are insane! May have to take a ride down there someday to check it out.

The ocean air is so refreshing, I enjoyed seeing you all's view..

We stayed for three consecutive summers at that place. All ocean front and one time penthouse. HVAC systems were shot in 2014-15-16. AC would always freeze up. Plumbing in bath...shot, wallpaper peeling off the walls. Water leaked into our suitcases without our knowledge and ruined three pieces with mold growth. Beating a dead horse mentality getting reported problems fixed. They have a place on 6th that aren't any better. hope they put some money into this place because it needed it.

It looks very nice and clean. For many many years we stayed at the Beachmark Motel at the beach at 73th and 74th Street. We always loved it because we like the 1960s and 70s 2 and 3 story motels and I always liked being on the first or second floor and the rooms are very big with balconies, and I also like the private entrance on the outside. This benchmark Motel also has the largest outdoor swimming pool in all of Ocean City. We did not want to be near the busy Boardwalk we only went to Ocean City Maryland for the huge pool and the beach and the seafood buffets. I just found out that they recently changed hands and it has a new name something like Kokomo sadly. Take a ride past it and check it out. It's not far from Bonfire restaurant and it is also near a Royal Farms and big Peckers restaurant is right across the street, also Denny's is very close where we always went for breakfast. ❤🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻

I have been going to OC since I was a child. Used to stay several days but the summer prices for hotels is out of my budget. I either go for a weekend in the fall or just for the day.

I think ocean fron rooms are great if you want to be a people watcher like me. I am not very adventurous but love to people watch. Are you two beach lovers? I lived on the Outer Banks in North Carolina for 8 eight years and I loved it, but too hard to make a living there. It is a tourist own. My husband was born and raised in that area in the 40's-50's. He wanted to go home for awhile. We stayed 8 years then back to Ca.

There was also a Chinese buffet in northern part of Ocean City Maryland on the main drag that use to have all you can eat crab legs and plenty of seafood and it was really cheap something like 24.99. I do not know if it's still there but it had a lot of food on the buffet❤

Basic, budget friendly and clean is a win by me. If you don't mind I'd like to ask what camera set up your using? Your video and audio quality is nice.

??Question - This hotel is ideal but I am wondering is there much noise from Crush Bar and Hammerheads Bar below? How about smoke fumes from cigarettes etc? Thanks for this nice, thorough and informative.

I grew up in MD and loved Ocean City! Youll have to go to the bar Seacrets if its still there. Outdoor bar. Fun place! Grab a cocktail! They had specialty ones. 😊🏖️👙🩴
