Yesss burial ceremony are great ,lots of people work together, we called in bahasa is " gotong royong " ( work together, help each other ), and Bakso Babi..as a muslim we did'nt eat this, but its fine..we respect all of religion and Faith ,life together and respect ,hope you and family always enjoy this experience Sir.., terimakasih ya..thanks
Bakso babi , man that sounds like a great breakfast. I read about these traditional funerals in a book , called Ring of Fire, about two young Western travelers who sailed through the archipelago years ago, filmed it and sold the film to the BBC.
Those beef balls with noodles probably my favorite out of Indonesian cuisine, i ate it nearly every lunch back in Singapore. Your travel give me a bit more insight since i dont have much chances to travel to Indonesia.

The ma'badong actually is a farewell hymn sung to lead the dead go to puya and laterly reincanate, but after christianity well-spread and believed by torajan, the contains of ma'badong hymn replaced with the hymns of asking God to relieved our pain and sorrow and thanks to Him for his leading during burial process...
@@BagsPackedFamily great for you pak! It's a wonderful footage though...are you remain in toraja now..? Don't forget to get some kue tori to go back home hahahaha, great to see chedar, granite and the baby learn different cultures and tastes lot of different food, they'll be great adventurers, send my prayer and warm greeting for them!
My recommendations are islands in Indonesia such as: Sangihe Island, Maselihe Bay, Samares Blue Lake in Papua, Pusuk Buhit in North Sumatra, Sawarna Beach in Banten. there are many more natural beauties such as secret waterfalls on several islands
Hey,i actually have a qn for Arru & u..During the pandemic hit with high death toll,do they store the sick body for months or even years in a place like Arru had given the fact that it's an expensive ceremony to carry out for the lesser/lower capable ones
No, actually covid patient will be buried following the health protocol... So they'd be buried as soon as possible without any funeral procession... so sad but we cant do nothing!!!
Hi, i'm from Toraja by the way but now living in Makassar, during the pandemic of course every people died from Covid19 (including in Toraja) have been treated carefully as instructed by the Health Ministry and been immediately buried based on the existing protocols for Covid19 victims. Mostly the death are transported in special ambulance straight from the hospital to the graveyard, so yeah it was really hard for the family but that is the only way to minimize the spread of the virus. As an added information during the pandemic there were no or very minimal number of funeral ceremonies took places because the government would not allow it and majority of people have decided to stay home and not creating any crowd 😊Hope this help, Mr. Arru surely could add more detail info on this. Finally i hope you, your wife and the kids have a great time in Toraja. Oh one more thing, if you are still in Toraja now I suggest you to go try "Kapurung" ...the best one is in front of SD 5 Rantepao, pak Arru must know the place 😊👍. Cheers!
