I regularly visit all of these mentioned places (except Chanel etc [only tourists would shop there]) and they are as good as they look on screen. Bring on the 2032 Olympics so we can showcase our awesomeness to the rest of the world 👍🏻😃

More beaches (small waves) on the Peninsula or eastern Bayside at Manly and Wynnum. You can get to Stradbroke Island, via fast catamaran or vehicular ferry and experience beautiful surf beaches or the Gold or Sunshine Coasts beaches are only 1 hours drive away. Many Brisbaneites, drive to the beaches on weekends. On the way to the Gold Coast you have amusement parks: Movie World, Dreamworld and a waterpark. On your way to the Sunshine Coast you can visit Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. Also we have a planetarium in Brisbane - just a few things to mention

It’s actually a pretty affordable city. Average monthly salary is approx $4800 per person, with the average monthly expenses being approx $1800 before rent. Rent can vary depending the type of place and location but you can pretty much find a very nice place for $4-500 per week. Obviously on top of that, you’re not in America so healthcare is free, the public education system is free and high quality, you get 18 weeks parental leave (mother or father) when you have a new born, 10 days paid sick days per year, 4 weeks paid holidays per year, plus in addition to your salary an additional 9% of what you earn each year is is paid towards your retirement fund (superannuation)

Brisbane is a cool place to live in also, as you have the lovely surrounding suburbs, which have their own little villages, water views of the river, plenty of parkland, take the dogs to for a walk also haha, getting so trendy but who doesn't like things to do, Brisbane has great coffee like Sydney and Melbourne, I must admit also just outer suburbs are gorgeous on grassy hills, yes Brisbane has become a cosmopolitan City. Hope you visit one day.

"High tea" is a tradition imported from the UK vaguely related to afternoon tea, but I wouldn't say it's particularly common here in Australia. To simplify it, it's a bit like "afternoon tea on steroids". Rather than your traditional afternoon tea in the late afternoon on lounge chairs with tea, coffee and a few small sandwiches and cakes, high tea is taken at a dining table and with a greater range of food. Traditionally it used to be "afternoon tea for rich people", though it became more common in the working class after the industrial revolution.

Cost of living is high in Australia but so are wages and living standards.. The AUD is also worth a bit less than the USD which makes it seem more expensive but the average wage in Australia is 100k PA.. Brisbane is to Australia what Dallas is to the US. Everyone finds reasons to say why it is the country cousin but everyone wants to move there. I am a Brisbanite born and bred but lived in Dallas (Frisco) for seven years. It is one of the cheaper cities to live and visit in Australia. Also Brisbane is the gateway to the two of the most iconic beach areas in Australia, the Gold Coast an hour to the south, and the Sunshine Coast about the same to the north. Brisbane has a strong working class heritage so it is a very welcoming city and Brisbanites typically despise the pretention of the big southern cities of Sydney and Melbourne.

I moved to Brisbane from Sydney about 25 years ago. It is an awesome place to live. If I have visitors from overseas, I always drive an hour and a half up the highway, and take the visitors to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. It is a fantastic day out. I like to stay up the coast over night, and the next day, take the visitors to what use to be called Underwater World but is now called Sea Life. Afterwards, a walk along Mooloolaba Beach, ending in Fish and Chips at the Spit. Alternatively, if your visitors prefer, less than an hour south of Brisbane is Dream World and Warner Brothers Movie World. Or another half hour south will get you to SeaWorld.

Cost is living is more expensive but, we get many government benefits: free health care, government child support, AUS STUDY where the government gives you an allowance if you are involved in tertiary study etc. It means we don't have to factor those kinds of things into our budget. Also, Australians tend to get more leave than other countries, we have 20 paid vacation days and 10 paid public holidays (on average) per year, we have paid sick and carers leave and we are the only country in the world with long service leave. If you work at a company for X number of years, you get to accumulate more paid holidays and can take them whenever. More things we don't have to factor into our budgets.

Because you always ask for perspective, I live ~11km east of the CBD and I'm told my house is worth ~AU$450,000 (Iv'e been here a while so don't know for sure), it's a modest house on a small lot of land but has 3 bedrooms and a single car garage so not poverty living either. it takes less than an hour by public transport to the CBD. I live in Brisbane, 1stly, glad the pronunciation issue was delt with quickly, not easy to correct that by typing. I'm a little disappointed they spent so much time covering shopping, they completely missed the bay activites. - scuba diving, there's plenty of coral reef right off Brisbane, including the wreck of the decommissioned HMAS Brisbane, now a top diving spot - Charter fishing, whether or not you miss Marlin season or Mahi Mahi season, you can stll find decent sport in catching large snapper or GTs. And if your lucky, you may even spot a whale or two - My personal favorite, Stradbroke Island (or Straddy to the locals) while it may be a bay island, it still falls in the boundry of Brisbane city. Great weekend getaway, with camping, fishing, surfing, and 4x4 off road driving on one of the largest sand islands in the world. On the city side of the island wade out into the water with a handful of bait fish, be patient, and with a bit of luck, you can hand feed wild dolphins.

Bris bun, right on, been here for about 20 + years, lone pine is very good, especially if you have kids, definitely not a zoo. As for ' high tea ', it is an English term meaning, a thing they do in the early afternoon involving drinking tea accompanied by, ( scones, you will have to google that for yourselves ) with jam, ( jelly ), & cream & maybe a weird little snack like sandwiches with their crusts cut off. I wouldn't call it a meal, it's just a posh thing to do, ordinary Australians have a similar custom we do at home, just called, ( afternoon tea ),but it quite often still involves tea & scones & held at the same time. South bank which you featured briefly is pretty good as you can get there from pretty much anywhere & is one of the few spots in the city you can just sit down on the grass in the shade & have a picnic, or just sit in the shade & watch life wander by. When the out door markets were on all over the city, they were also very popular, Southbank had a big one too.

Hi guys, I’ve lived in Brizzy all my life. I love it. It is not really expensive. Sydney and Melbourne are much more expensive. It is the best place to live in Aus it’s only 40 mins to the best beaches in Aus. 😊

Hey guys I live and work in Brisbane, pure working class earn $26 per hour, pay $1200 per month rent for a small 3 br house. Gas price bounces between $5:40 and $6:80 a gallon on a 3 week cycle. A case of beer or a bottle of jack Daniels will cost you $50. Costs $1200 a year to register a V8 . A Big Mac costs $10. Health care is free it’s included in your income tax, Ambulance service is the same.
