Hey everyone! Welcome back to my channel, have you ever had a New Zealand snack before? Um, SO GOOD. Comment down below if you're from New Zealand seeing this! See y'all next Saturday, -b
Always find it funny when people are confused when it says chicken flavored chips As here in New Zealand it is one of the main flavors along with salt and vinegar, ready salted (plain) and sour cream and chives
I'm a KIWI from NZ , now living in the US for the past 12 yrs & i agree with the "Pineapple Lumps " ....BUT the one item they're missing out on is a Mince PIE outta a pie warmer in a bakery, the US "Pot pies" dont have anything on a kiwi pie
I am from New Zealand. I was kinda disappointed that more iconic kiwi treats were not in the box. If you do come down under there is so much for you to try
I just noticed that. I like the loose bag ones in the supermarket help yourself aisle, I find them more softer and in many different flavors. I like the red ones more.
Awesome guys. Always love New Zealand... especially when the West Indies play against them (Black Hats) in Cricket. You will never find a bunch of athletes more respectful. Fantastic Cricket players. Heck yes, absolutely love New Zealand the country and people.
Great review of NZ's lollies. Liqorice Sherbert Fizz is so nice. Whittakers almond slab is even better. The Wizard, whose real name is Ian Brackenbury Channell, 88, had been contracted to Christchurch city council for 23 years to promote the city through “acts of wizardry and other wizard-like services”, he was paid for his services approximately $16,000 per year. Again thank you take care and be safe. From Tairawhiti, Aotearoa NZ
Wow, that is seriously so interesting! What a job, someone else just told me he ended up retiring and moving? I’ve got a lot of questions for this guy haha that’s a really fun fact!
This is true. The Wizard has for decades stood in Cathedral Square doing his routine for the tourists and locals alike. From his campaign to right the world map by having the Southern Hemisphere on the top, to his tireless efforts to Save the Males. He even has a graduated ex-apprentice named Ari Freeman, who has just published a book on practical magic. Gotta love Christchurch
I feel like we have Munchos here in the states, but they are chip shaped and not sticks like what you were eating. Also, totally ordering the peanut slabs to put in Christmas stockings!
@@briannaolesen3617 I think Peanut Slabs have been designed to have just the exact amount of chocolate needed to hold all the peanuts together and coat the outside.
Sad that you didn't get to try a chocolate fish. It's pink Marshmello covered in dark chocolate in the shape of a fish. You gotta try pineapple lumps too (taffy like pineapple flavour candy covered in dark chocolate) and a soft drink called L&P Lollies = candy
I absolutely NEED to try this chocolate fish and pine apple lumps they sound amazing. I’ve been getting so many good suggestions I might try to find all the recommended snacks and do a pt 2!
@@briannaolesen3617 if you ever get marmite/Vegemite spread. Warning it's not chocolate lol. Very savoury spread that you spread VERY thinly on buttered toast. Ya just need the tip of your knife having a tiny bit on it and then spread on toast. It's also handy to add a teaspoon of it to homemade gravy or beef stew when making the sauce from scratch.
@@briannaolesen3617 If you do try vegemite/Marmite. Start with a very thin spread on hot toast with plenty of melty butter, I can't stress enough the importance of butter for the American palette.
You had the Whittaker's peanut slab - I am surprised no big bars were sent. My personal favorites,Ghana Peppermint,Rum and Raisin and Peanut Butter ( you'll appreciate that last one being Americans:))
Yes the peanut slab was AMAZING we bought more from Amazon! Ooo I love peppermint I’ll have to try whatever the Ghana Peppermint is! And yess peanut butter is so good
New Zealand Advertisement standards state that the information of the product , shown , written , stated cannot be misleading , wrong , in any way ..... Thus when it is stated " Flavourful , ..... " the product must be as stated ' Weak , misleading products are quickly shown the door ( exposed for what they are ) " This Standard is applied throughout the manufacturing industry but not only in the food sector You cannot make false or misleading claims And has been used for some tongue in cheek advertising " a bag full of fun .... and some chips too "
I’m from New Zealand 🇳🇿 and Idk that we have a wizard lol anyway Thank you for reviewing New Zealand’s snacks, will you come to New Zealand? You guys are going to love it here, we have some awesome views!.
Someone said he potentially retired and moved to Australia 🤷🏼♀️😂 and yes of course we had so much fun we enjoyed the snacks! We’d definitely be interested I feel like it’s beautiful, it would be a big trip that’s for sure!
I was in the New Zealand Army and was based in the South Island in Burnham Military Camp about 30Km out of Christchurch and the Wizard of Christchurch was always in the City Centre talking to the crowd but i think he's since died ? ???
All Whitakers chocolate is amazing and even though the peanut slab is yum it is definitely not the best! You need to try Puhoi chocolate milk.. only in NZ
@@briannaolesen3617Hell yes! Growing up on Whittakers since I was 3 they’re is SO MANY! 1 Milk chocolate. Absolutely priceless just melts in your mouth. 2 Dark chocolate personally my favourite funny story 13 years ago when I was 3 my dad sold a car to Whittakers and as a thank you they gave us a box of chocolate. Me being weird I wanted to try the dark chocolate. My dad was unsure if I was going to like it turned out to be my favourite. Anyways it’s pretty self explanatory on how it tastes still absolutely delicious. 3 White chocolate. Same as milk chocolate so creamy and just melts In your mouth. 4 Berry Biscuit. Chunks of berry and biscuit covered in milk chocolate. It’s really nice when you get the crunch of the biscuit. 5 Fruit and nut. Same thing except nuts instead of Biscuit. And so so so many more!
If you want Kiwi Snacks wheres the Rashins ? the Lemon & Pairoa Drink ?, the Moro Bar the Pinky Bar, The Pixie Caramal, The Cookie Time Cookie (Triple Choc), Feijoas
Dear old Wiz - he was making speeches back when I was in University in the late 70's! He was always anti whatever was the flavour of the month politically. Back then he had a running battle with a group of feminists but really it was all good fun and entertainment. He was the Spiritual Leader of a Colonial leaning 'Army' of loyal troops known as 'Alf's Imperial Army' who did battle with mock natives from the engineering faculty (which was blown out of all proportion and got them in a lot of real trouble, but that is another story). He subsisted on donations thrown at him as he talked, probably a speaker's fee paid by the Student Union and by the sale of 'Proper' maps of the world, with South at the top, in it's rightful place. This was the true level of his rebellious nature. P.S. Army v Engineers battles were fought with rolled up newspapers - still left a few bruises!
@@briannaolesen3617 Some kind of ability for poetry. So he was a very pursuasive man i believe with Authority and yet, he went to Australia, sometime in the mid 90's I think without a passport. Why did he get special privileges for doing so, when I had to apply for one.
@@briannaolesen3617 Write to Whittakers State the name of your You Channel , tell them you are examining New Zealands products and more than likely they would send you some of their product examples They are a good company Excellent products
@@briannaolesen3617 They probably will " a couple of items from thousands made .... " Each item has a guarantee of satisfaction written on the packet Whittakers ( hint ask politely and you may receive )
You'll find those chicken chips in my cupboard any time you are at my house. Don't listen to the people saying about Bluebird chips, they are wrong! Eta all day!
@@briannaolesen3617 Forgot strawbery existed since its usually 1 in a packet Tier 5 wild berry, strawberry Tier 3 banana Tier 2 lime Tier 1 orange It's common with this lolly to see people having the flavour they dont like lying around somewhere randomly in there house
@@jordanconnor1223 lime would be good!! And haha yes, same here. the flavors I don’t like just pile up in the bottom of the bag until I can give them away to someone else
Yes, the chocolate fish! 😂 unfortunately it was not apart of the snacks I received, but I have to try it for sure. Once it comes back in stock on SnackCrate I’ll have to order it! Thinking of doing a pt2 video
When I worked for the Christchurch City Council I would occasionally work in Cathedral Square the highlight of the day was watching the wizard absolutely destroy a certain well-known Evangelical preacher who is now extremely well known in the US and yes the wizard is awesome extremely well educated and well read you should see his world map it's brilliant. As to the chips they go extremely well with a homemade dip made from powdered onion soup a dash of vinegar or squeeze of lemon and here is your challenge because I will not name the company look up the final ingredient, trust me it is worth the effort.
It was always funny and highly entertaining the preacher was Ray comfort, the final ingredient for the dip nestlais reduced cream just not a big fan of the company once thoroughly mixed place in the fridge for half an hour to 1 hour then eat and enjoy goes with a multitude of things thanks for the reply
@@maxineb9598 Oh i didn't mean to make it confusing i was just trying to say that we make marmite and not vegemite. Sorry should have. made it more clear and say we still have vegemite.
@@briannaolesen3617 they don't make those anymore but they were yummy and Eta was nicer then......should try Heartland chip from NZ, now those are nice
Hello Maxine B I'm from NZ also and we shouldn't judge how other countries implement their words or slangs, there is nothing wrong with saying y'all! Stop being sooo judgemental. Brianna Olesen so sorry for some New Zealanders and their comments Not all of us are like this.
@@titihuiarebeccarangi1978 thank you for being kind. ☺️ and I’ve actually really enjoyed talking to everyone else in the comments, and I’ve been learning a lot! I appreciate you!!
