Pineapple lumps, jaffas, jet planes, chocolate fish, ice blocks and MORE! Join us while we try some pretty iconic New Zealand snacks. We've had some of these before but we finally got to try some true Kiwiana treats in this video for the first time. We've definitely missed some, mostly because we've tried a lot of them in the past and I wanted to get as many first impressions in this video as possible. Please leave us a comment below with your favourite snacks and we'll try our best to get our hands on them before we move back to Canada!

Hello beautiful couple💖. I love these vlogs where you're together, interacting, trying, and sampling different things. Your descriptions of the products are great! Tx for sharing. Although watching all these snacks makes me gain 5 lbs 🤣🙉. Some of these snacks are very interesting and look delicious. 🤤 Funny thing is, I recently found a forgotten Whittaker's chocolate bar with nuts in my pantry, half-eaten 🤣. Can't remember where we got it from, but it seems this brand is in Ottawa. Really good and tasty!👌 Enjoy the rest of your time in NZ. Lots of love to both of you. 💖

Try mackintoshes(wrapped toffee). Sparkling duet ((orange/citrus fizzy). Vegemite. Pies. Kiwifruit. Feijoa (in season).

I've seen mackintoshes a lot but haven't grabbed any yet, thanks for the rec! I haven't heard of sparkling duet yet. The pies here are 10/10, same with golden kiwifruit though I think those are from Aussie? I want to try Marmite before we leave too.

I love these types of videos 😂 I think I would have to agree with your ratings though. Some of those snacks are iconic or nostalgic but don't taste great. RJs, Cookie Time and Whittakers are amazing though. I found RJs licorice in eastern Canada when I lived there. It was just the plain red licorice and it did taste a bit old/stale... but we were so excited to find it! Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in NZ!

All those things used to made in NZ apart from couple of brands.Jaffas are best to rolled down Baldwin St or wooden floor in old picture theatrs. Jet planes used to look like proper little planes(yummy). Aussies make crap confectionary ie Whittakers compared to Cadbury chocolate.
@brittanymorgan09

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascall_(company) Jaffa's are supposed to melt in your mouth, but resisting chewing them is great will power. A bunch of NZ produced packaged foods moved to Australia. Fruju is pronounced perfectly. Popsicle is a brand here, the generic term is ice block. Frujus have tons of flavor.

I think when Mondelez brought Cadbury, they consolidated a lot of manufacturing to Australia, they closed their factory in Dunedin and pascals went overseas who were a subsidiary of Cadburys NZ operation. All of Pascals confectionery once came out of a factory I used to pass all the time on Rosebank Road in Avondale, Auckland.
@brittanymorgan09

Wow!! I'll have to try that with jaffas and see what that's like. Sad to hear all these large Kiwi brands were bought out but I guess that's the way of things. Thanks for the coment!

I hope you didn't get too sick afterwards Brittany. Most of the stuff you reviewed are just c**p. but I do enjoy Queen Anne & Whittakers & a plug for Potter Brothers. I do feel Donovan was out of his comfort zone & in need of a Craft "Moro" Beer. Thanks

Great video! I pretty much agree with you on everything, but you should have had Snackachangi vinegar and salt chips - sooo good. Every now and then I need a pineapple fruju, just because it reminds me of childhood summers at the beach - same with L&P, really (I usually dilute it with 2/3 soda water though, to cut the sweetness 😅). RJs raspberry logs are one of my favourite things in the world - so, so good!
@brittanymorgan09

Thank you!! I think we've had Snackachangi before but not the vinegar & salt, I'll have to grab a bag before we leave! So many good snacks here, I'd like to try more flavours of the Fruju blocks too.

L & P, Lemon & Paeroa I believe originated in the town of Paeroa south of Auckland. Apparently using spring water from the town, happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, I remember my parents telling me this as a kid.
@brittanymorgan09
@brittanymorgan09 3 месяца назад
Correct!! I ended up looking this up while editing the video and was surprised to learn this because I thought for sure it was a fruit haha. Very cool history & delicious drink! Thanks for watching & for the comment :)
@thundercid1533

So the spring water from Paeroa is no longer used. If you read the ingredients list it says mineral salts supposed to recreate the original spring water constitution.

Twisties, Burger Rings & Rashuns all had a recipe change a few years ago; and are now far inferior products to what they used to be. Its almost as if they changed factories, equipment, cooks and recipes all at once they're so unlike what they used to be.

Feijoas did,nt used grow in Australia, another stolen NZ delicacy kidnapped. I think only other place they grow a lot was in Georgia.

Man it sucks, you guys missed out on the actual products, all those treats used to be amazing and locally kiwi made with the best ingredients. Now everything has been on sold where they just extract maximum profits and give you utter crap in return. The exception being Whitakers and to some extent RJs. Pretty sure I have eaten my body weight in rjs red licorice logs lol
