Now it’s time to learn about some history in London! Today we are visiting the British Museum… because one must do this when in London! There are artifacts that the British have collected from all over the world, butt he most interesting are probably from Egypt… real mummies.
The we make the walk to Westminster Abbey before they close for the day. We made it in time to spend over an hour exploring the almost 1000 years of history!

Hi guys, loving your London videos so far. Obviously this video was taken before the Queen sadly passed away. Just a quick note to say when the Union Jack 🇬🇧 is flying above Buckingham Palace (or previously when no flag was present) it denotes that the monarch is not in residence. Only the Royal Standard (which is now draped over the Queen's coffin) denotes that the monarch is in residence. It only flies when the monarch is at his or her official residence, and is never lowered to half mast. In summer, from July until September, the Queen is never in London and has always spent her holiday at Balmoral every year. This was where she sadly passed away last week. That delicious Scotch egg is a classic British dish, often eaten cold on picnics with the humble Melton Mowbray pork pie. It's a whole egg wrapped in pork sausagemeat then layered in breadcrumbs and cooked to a golden crisp. Go to Fortnum and Mason's food hall on Piccadilly, in the basement they have the most delectable Scotch eggs and pork pies and other amazing food. F&M have been serving the British public for over 300 years and currently supply the Royal household.

If you're in London on a Sunday and want to see Westminster Abbey without paying the £25 then go to a church service. Even if you normally aren't a church goer at home it will be a cultural and uplifting experience. Plus there will be a few things that you're never going to see at church in America. I'll leave that for y'all to find out.

Loving your post about my home city. Obviously this was filmed way before the queens passing. Someone explained about the flag over Buckingham Palace and what a Scotch Egg is but there are many fares to try not just fish n chips. The streets are hard going and extremely hard if you try to fit so much in one day. But I’m loving that you’ve taken to my city. Wanted to say, on Saturday night/ Sunday morning I queued 12 hours to see our late queen lying in state, my feet and legs can testify for it but what an experience that I’ll never do again or be part of U.K. history. Westminster Abbey and Westminster Palace including Houses of Parliament and Big Ben which is actually a bell in the Elizabeth Tower are world heritage sites. The hall Queen Elizabeth lay in state was Westminster Hall the oldest complex to Westminster Palaces. We’ve just said our last goodbyes to our gracious Queen very emotional day here in the U.K. but very proud of having a queen on throne for 70+ years and the Pomp and Ceremony was just awe inspiring which no other country could even come near.

Thats the thing about London. Its VAST and exhausting. Impossible to see everything in one trip. I lived therenfor 5 years and i lost weight because i spent so much time walking everywhere. I guarantee that you missed so many incredible places, so you should definitely come back for more! Covent Garden market, the Shard, skygarden, walking over tower bridge and walking the southbank centre with all of the shops and ancient pubs... Theres too much. Camden market, Jermyn Street, the burlington arcade, Oxford Street. Harrods! Fortnum and Mason! All of the giant parks full of flowers, and thats before you hit the tourist sites. I lived there for 4 years and i never got bored.

13:41 - She was in her 90’s and her Father took over when Elizabeth was 13 or 14 years old. So I expect she’s been used to lots of people outside her _house_ for longer than 50 years. Also that building is part of a quadrant, there are three more just like it, so it’s unlikely she’s in that front-facing bit most of the time anyway; perhaps somewhere a little quieter.

if you ever have to ask yourself "I wonder if this is the original, in the UK, or if the original is still where it's supposed to be?" the answer is that we usually have the original in the UK. We famously just took things or bought things and shipped them to London. If memory serves me right, most of the parthenon sculptures (usually called the Elgin Marbles, after the chap who stol...legally transferred them from Greece) are original. Greece has asked for them back, and the museum has said they were legally brought to the UK and are best stored in the british museum. Some of the original statues are still in Greece, and they have a small museum there to display those.

You could spend a week in the museum and still not see it all. Buckingham Palace is regarded as the Monarch's Office, they do have a small flat, but Windsor is regarded as 'home'. Wellington Arch by Hyde Park was rebuilt on the site of 'Tyburn Trees' which was the site for public executions, the law was changed and executions were then carried out in prisons, also around this time the Duke of Wellington (Sir Arthur Wellesley) died and Parliament decided to move the arch and completely remove the heavily contaminated soil of the execution site.

There's no a/c because that would change the Relative Humidity and Temperature within the building which could damage the exhibits. The area where you were complaining about the lack of a/c is a replica of George III (I believe) library. It contains a lot of books and material. This is just the place that you don't want a/c in as it introduces moist air. If you get above 70% humidity you are likely to get mould growing. With all the visitors coming they introduce a lot of moisture.

If you were in _Scotland_ a Scotch Egg (11:30) would be a raw egg cracked into a glass of whisky. Now that _is_ sump'n different!

(13:30) Hey, hon, not so crazy. That's pretty standard for poll workers in Georgia, since 2020. So far, they _ain't_ gotten used to it. It's _still_ very intimidating.

Hope you are adding lots of salt and vinegar to those fish and chips, it's a completely different dish without them.

Re: dropping your glasses - Londoner’s are notorious for minding their own business. English people in the south are also stand-offish (I’m from the south coast), but if you travel up north, you will find people that are more friendly and helpful. The first time I visited Manchester (England’s third city), I saw this man with a physical disabilty fall over in the city centre, and everybody nearby came running to help him, which I didn’t expect. It is the same in the small town, south of Manchester, where I live now, and it is one of the reasons whyI would never move down south again.

Ma'am you are beautiful. You 2 are already lovely anyway. You look great. If you feel happier with the wig then fine, but I think you are pretty au natural. Whatever makes you happy.

If the union flag is flying it doesn’t mean the monarch is in residence, only if the royal standard is flying. The Queen had lived at Windsor Castle for the last 2 years and they are doing major renovation work at Buckingham Palace.

Green park is called so because there are no flower beds only bulbs this is because it occupies the cemetary of the medieval Leper hospital that was where Tudor St James palace now Stands the Hospital was closed in the Dissolution of the Monestries.

'Replicas' (of the Elgin Marbles) in the British Museum ? The only place you'll find such a travesty would be in the gift shop !!!!

You missed probably one of the most famous kings in ancient history who is actually a saint, Edward the Confessor. He was king from 1003-1066. It was his death that led to the conquest of England by William of Normandy. Also in the vaults is the tomb of Lord Admiral Nelson whose sarcophagus was originally intended for Cardinal Wolsey but he was disgraced by Henry VIII and died in 1530. Henry VIII was then going to be buried in it but his children never got round to finishing it!

If your scotch egg had batter around it then you didn't have a scotch egg because they're egg wrapped in sausage meat with bread crumbs coating it and deep fried xx

Westminster Abby is an amazing place, one of many ornate Abbeys and Minsters all across the UK. The difference between the UK and USA is, Americans think 100 years is a long time, Brits think 100 miles is a long way.

The Elgin marbles are the real deal and not replicas, as are the majority of the items on display. If not then they will say.
