AMERICANS TRY | UK CHOCOLATE!!!! | CADBURY VS. HERSHEY'S 

Love Double Deckers, love Crunches, but Toblerone are the best, and at least with my family, a Christmas stable along with Maltezers.

The real reason was when Cadbury shareholders were having a tiff, they couldn't come to an agreement with how the company was going to progress so the shareholders put the Cadbury empire on sale to the highest bidder, Hershey Chocolate of the USA put a bid in for the company shares, but Mondolaz out bid Hershey with a better bid so under Hershey's nose Mondolaz International purchased the Cadbury Chocolate Empire which until then exported British Cadbury Chocolate to the USA even though in the 60's and 70' Cadbury Chocolate was manufactured in the USA in Florida I believe under the name of George Cadbury, this ended as it seemed easier to export it. What happened next was as Hershey lost out on the purchase they threw their dummy in the air and apparent protested to the US senate who intern with a lot of crap from Hershey got the British Made Chocolate banned from the USA and this can only be got hold of by having it shipped out in packages by friends, to get around this and calm the situation down Mondolaz agreed to let Hershey make Cadbury Chocolate under contract to Mondolaz, the problem s that if you compare a British Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar to a Hershey made one the Hershey one taste crap as the chocolate has not got the correct taste or texture. Now you might ask how I know this, it is because I live in Birmingham UK where the Cadbury factory at Bourneville is based, I am a fan of Cadbury Chocolate, and watch this situation progress on the local TV news and local papers as us Brummies were annoyed that American Companies were trying to buy our favourite Chocolate Company up, but as it is Mondolaz has let Cadbury do its own thing and progress, more so than what Hershey would of done, even Oreo is now made by Cadbury.

@@Claryvision I think you will find it is, if you got some Cadbury made by Mondolaz in Bourneville Birmingham you are very lucky as for the reason I mentioned below, Hershey tried to buy Cadbury chocolate up but were beaten by Kraft Foods who make Philadelphia Cheese fame, Hershey got nasty about it and got the US government to ban the import of British Cadbury Chocolate, in the mean time Kraft concocted a deal with Hershey Chocolate so they could manufacture Cadbury Chocolate in the States which taste nothing like the British Cadbury Chocolate. In the mean time Kraft split it's empire up into two independently owned companies, Kraft Foods concentrating on their food stuffs like Philadelphia Cheese and various biscuit manufacturing and setting up a wholly owned subsidiary called Mondolaz UK Ltd which its head quarters is at the Cadbury Factory in Bourneville, Birmingham, UK that concentrates on all the Mondolaz made Chocolate products around the world, so if you got to a Shopping Mall or local food store in the USA you will find if you look at the back of the Cadbury Bar the address is the Hershey Factory and the Chocolate bar packaging is different to a Mondolaz / Cadbury Chocolate bar manufactured in the UK and exported, there may be a few shops in the US that get Cadbury Chocolate exported from the UK in plain boxes that get around the import problems some how, I live in Birmingham UK near the Bourneville Factory of Cadbury's and being a Cadbury chocolate fan watched this silly story pan out between Hershey Chocolate and Mondolaz in the local News papers and TV News, one thing good come out of the Kraft take over was, production stayed in Birmingham UK in the Bourneville Factory of Cadbury, when the company split into Kraft foods and Mondolaz, Mondolaz practically left cadbury Chocolate to run the business has it always has done, where as if Hershey Chocolate had took it over they would of ruined it or even moved production to the USA

Hershey even demand that they make the chocolate for American Kit Kats, a chocolate bar that everywhere else around the world, is coated by Nestle. (A swiss firm of origin)

@@Claryvision Yes, at least you are getting the genuine stuff, not the Hershey made crap. Apparently even the Hershey made Cadbury Chocolate packaging is different from the genuine British made Chocolate. One good thing that came out of Kraft Foods buying Cadburys is the fact that Cadbury is a world wide name making many diverse products from loads of different Chocolate products under its name and Fry's Chocolate which it purchased in the 60's I believe, to Biscuits, Cakes, Drinking Chocolate, tin of drinking Cocoa and even Christmas Puddings in the late 60's. A few years ago Kraft Food decided to split the company so that Kraft continued making its Philadelphia Cream Cheese and food products and set up Mondolaze International to run the Chocolate Confectionary side of things , so basically it is Cadbury running it's self but under the Mondolaze name. If ever you come over to the United Kingdom you need to come to Birmingham and do a visit to the Cadbury works in Bourneville in Birmingham which do tours around a part of the factory reached by catching a local train from Birmingham to Bourneville. The place where the factory is was put there for a clean air place for it's work force then run by the Cadbury family who moved from Birmingham City Centre, they built the factory and a workers housing estate which was a village on the banks of the Bourne Brook ( a small river ), so they named it Bourneville . If you want a laugh and you haven't seen it yet, put up Cadbury Gorilla advert, it is an American Actor in a life like Gorilla suite advertising Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate playing a set of drums like Phil Collins with Phil Collins singing " I can hear it in the air tonight". it is one of the best Cadbury Chocolate adverts made.

@@Claryvision Sorry but its so weird you saying cadbury candy. We just do NOT use candy when we talk about chocolate. We dont really use the term candy and especially not for chocolate. We use sweets for anything but chocolate.

The boost bar is so immensely underrated. My absolute favourite. 👌

Also known as Cinder Toffee, you essentially make a toffee mixture, and at the end quickly stir in bicarbonate of soda (Baking Soda) and pour the foaming mixture into your lined tin/pan to set.

I love crunchies. We called it cinder toffee when I was young too

@@Claryvision we do. It is definitely different to our white chocolate. Ours is creamier and has much more flavour. Our white chocolate is slightly creamy pale yellow in colour.

@@Claryvision Don't know about the top quality white choc, but the bench standard is probably the Milky Bar. Also had one of the most memorable ad campaigns ever - search for the milky bar kid, or 'the milky bars are on me'.

@@Claryvision i'm not entirely sure what you can get over there. but it might be good to cook some recipes if you are into that. There are few more traditional (but still widely eaten) dishes and easy things to cook (with ingredients you can easily locate) which include Cottage Pie, fisherman's pie, beans on toast (heinz beans from a foreign store maybe - i'd serve them with grated cheddar cheese melted on top), sticky toffee pudding with custard, victoria sponge cake

It’s full of Cadbury goodness, and very small and neat. A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.

@@Claryvision we get good quality white chocolate with dried strawberry or raspberry sometimes from companies like Thornton's at Easter. It is really good

Cadbury do an organic range called Green and Blacks. It is slightly more expensive. They do different flavours. Their white chocolate is lovely and you can see the vanilla seeds in it. They do a dark one with ginger. At Christmas you can usually get a box with minitures in all the flavours
