Y'all handled that so well... like champs!! So, just in case we need to find that parking garage... do we turn right or left at the woman with the see-through pants?? : )
This was waaay better experience than ours in Granada. I was just like Kara showing directions to hubby who was extremely mad and started yelling at me when we were going in one-way roads, which the hotel receptionist advised us to ignore, till I get him in a very difficult narrow street of 1m90 and an old lady opened her window and told us that we are about to go downstairs and that there was no way to get out!!! we HAD TO GO BACK IN THAT VERY VERY NARROW street. we spent there about 1h30 to get out. When we finally almost made it to the hotel, he was so mad that he did not see a short pole in a corner and hit it. Yes that was the very first time my hubby had an accident in 30 years driving in NYC.
This is so funny because we had a very similar experience in Seville! I was the GPS and my mom was driving, and I accidentally led her down so many one-way streets, and since we were driving a huge van we got stuck on a street too! It got so narrow that we had to back our way out of it! hahaha
Man this reminded me of my time trying to park downtown Denver alone and not understanding parking garages in the city. Everywhere else almost in Colorado there is so much open space you just park in a lot for free with no worries but you get in the city and its all different, just like it seems in old foreign cities.
This reminds me so much for when we are driving and parking in Ireland! Especially since we were on the opposite side of the road for everything lol I was doing so well in parking garages and everywhere else, and then one day we got to the train station a little later and there was one spot and I had to parallel park and OMG it was so frustrating. We got it figured out tho and were not as calm as you two were lol.
Lol...been there not in a foreign country in my own state, in my own town...omg...This crazy weird parking garage i had no idea it was there...it was annoying...you guys didn't scream at eachother...good for you...BIG HUGS FROM IDAHO :)
Was thinking the same the other day. I don't think it'd be fair though to have professional travelers face regular people though. Kara and Nate do rappelling and bungee jumping for fun and the people on amazing race are often so afraid of doing those kinda things.
Parking a car larger than a mini in a European parking garage always has me at my wits end. It wouldn't be suitable for publication, expletives would be flying. I commend you on your infinite patience.
I hate parking garages. They are designed for hundreds of cars but almost all cars don’t fit properly. They often are on one way streets and are poorly signed.
try that crap in indonesia ... where 'streets' dead end with no warning and are narrower that the car ... AND your driving on the 'wrong hand side'!! i loved indonesia! and australia and NZ ... they have to learn to drive on the 'correct side'!
Love you Kara but you did a poor job at navigating and guiding Nate through unfamiliar road and assisting him at parking. I still love how both you stayed so calm and not yrll at each other.
