Ameriie discusses her seven year hiatus from music, her new EP Drive, her love of writing, having OCD, her relationship with her husband and much more with The Breakfast Club. #BreakfastClub
Never praise any woman, but her femininity should be looked upon with great desire, I’m sure she would never attack anyone if she worked at a restaurant and was told “my fries are cold”
Your absolutely right, she beautiful , she's kind , very smart ,and I feel they are not listening to her , she is explaining and the two guys I am Not liking how they are throwing out questions to her,the lady who is a radio announcer is more kind to her.
+Dwight Stewart I'm not in his head, but when she was younger; she looked African american/Asian; but as she's gotten "older" she looks "Asian" (I got it)
This is proof that this woman was way ahead of her time!! EVERYBODY knew that Beyoncé B-Day album was inspired by the sound of Amerie. She deserves so much more attention and was on her way, but she's too damn smart for the industry. Keep up the hard work Amerie!
airmix08 crazy in love as well she heard amerie samples and started to working with her producer and he gave Beyonce amerie’s sound that she herself created , one thing was very tumultuous for her the record label wanted to take it away from her and she published herself
If you don't know about Amerie listen to her very first album! Y'all I swear it's like one of the very few albums that I can listen to with no skipping songs. That's a classic album for real! I love her!
It's Tabaitha and on that album i swore she was the next Mary J.. hell all 3 of her albums you could listen to from the 1st to the last track with no pause/skips! So underrated as an innovative artist!
Well with her I think they wanted her to answer wheather the rumors were true or not because they feel what we felt that someone trashed her career. I feel thats what they wanted
I don’t understand why Charlemagne can’t get over the fact that this woman can do other things other than singing. Him asking her over and over why she left is so annoying.
She's not boring as some have commented below. She's just not getting trapped by certain questions and is very intelligent. She is not trying too hard to sound smart and informed....she just is. Amerie articulates very well, expressing her thoughts clearly without hating on another, using profanity, getting shamed into not doing interviews again, sounding like a robot or coming across like an empty, bubble headed numbskull. She seems to really enjoy engaging with others. It's nice to actually hear her talk. I can def follow her thought process. Keep it up, girl!
+devyvalentino man i had a blasian just like her, only chick i ever fell in love hard for, i fucked up so bad losing her, treated her like shit smh, worst mistake i ever made
Stephen Pamphile keep you eye out for women like her!! This means put yourself in places where these women may hangout or attend. Go out to new places that you may not have been used to using and you will meet them!
she came before that in 02 she just had that 1 thing song and she was hot in the scene after but paid her dues also best songs were features number wit berg and life wit royce da5
Earl Mells One Thing was noisy because it was a sample from the track "Oh Calcutta" by The Meters. It was a 2 bar loop....almost untouched. Way before Go-Go was even a thought....know before you speak.
I Perfectly understood the "brick in the wall" metaphor.. allow ppl to use their brains.. stop dumbing things down.. speak with analogies and metaphors to train the user/consumer or listener to use their brains. This is the problem with music in our culture...Smart ppl sound dumb to a dumb nigga.. after being desensitizing brainwash dumb people sound smart to dumb people. I love this type of woman.
+DocHicksTV Analogies and metaphors are only tools to assist in explaining your thesis or concept. She had a hard time getting her thesis across because, I believe, she's OCD. The analogies became useless because she didn't have a coherent, cogent thesis.
Triune Mind Production I totally understood everything she was saying. He was trying to pull a answer out of her that wasn't there. He was also trying to create a negative narrative about her absence. You can't give people the answers they want to hear or believe within themselves. Along with chasing headlines and digging for a answer to why she left the Industry, Angela Yee was the only one who asked any question that had any research behind it, I respect your comment however I fully understood everything she said.
I don't think she had a hard time explaining, but it was just like another commenter said in that char was trying to get her to water her own explaination down and for what? People need to put on their thinking caps and think!!! Lol I love love love Amerie and never knew her in this way. I'm so pleased to see this!
What a refreshingly classy Lady. The industry probably couldn’t handle a beautiful, intelligent, and self-assured woman with a strong mind. The interviewers were unable to ruffle her, and she brushed off their crudity in a very lady-like way, while re-directing the conversation back into an interview. She wasn’t there to be joked on.
They tried to bait her so many times to get the sensational sound bite but she answered every question superbly. She didn't fall in the trap. Her albums were crazy dope and I believe like she said timing was the thing. She was one the first to have the harder rap types beats that were loud like One Thing. She was under-developed and under promo-ed.
Ameriie. your a great role-model for younger women. Intelligent, well spoken and strong, your an amazing person. Congratulations on your achievements, music and now writing.
I love Ameriie!! I'm glad she left the music scene for a while, even though she's not on top with the A list stars she still comes back and does the damn thing then leaves like nothing happened! Lol. It ain't about the fame with her, it's all about the art! She looks like she's loving life... She's aging gracefully!! She's so humble and successful... Great interview! 💕 #teamAmeriie
"Talkn' to Me" was and still is my jam! 🙌🏾 she also had legs for days in that "1 thing" video made me want to do some leg curls, dead lifts and lunges after watching it. 😊
I absolutely love Amerie!! She's so classy, smart, extraordinarily beautiful and talented!! I want more Amerie in the industry and the world needs this type of vibe today
Ameriie is very humble and down to earth. She will never admit Beyonce took her producer and her sound... while AMERIIE isn't Beyonce... she was Beyonce before Beyonce went solo.. Beyonce stronged armed her (check her sound) Ameriie had that "Crazy in Love" sound from the very beginning of her career people... Ameriie could dance, sing and had the image... HOWEVER... Beyonce had all the power and took her sound, her swag and her career. Check the facts. Check out Crazy in love (which is one of her top 3 songs) and DeJa Vu (all Ameriie sound people). She will remain uncomfrontational and drama free that's why she won't feed into Charlamagn and The rest of the questions. She's very smart but to a fault. I think she should really speak up and own her sound... Beyonce took it... point blank. #word!
Shea Shine wow... "Ass face"??? Lol. Ok. I swear I'm not making it up. It is just the truth. Beyoncé took what she wanted... It's really no biggie... It's the industry way. The big fish eat the little fish. So... Because of my age though, I won't put on my clown suit with you... Rogue remarks in an opinionated discussion is classless and shows a low level of intellect to have a thoughtful conversation. So.. Yeah.
Lol... Go back to ameriie first album bro. She's always had that DC sound. ONE THING was her last hit. Also look at who produced those hits.... Also... Look at where Ameriie is now bro. Trying to wrestle with doing EP''s??? She was stripped into submission. She didn't want to play those industry games and fight with execs over whether she she go more edgy like Beyoncé who had all the momentum and power in her corner. Come on now...Work with me. You can't see the writing on the wall????.
^ I think we all need to start speaking out against her ourselves lol. She can't do shit if we're not known and lay down the facts in a persuasive/cunning way.
Ameriie is so underrated. All of her albums went hard and her first two were soooo good. She effortlessly blended Hip-Hop and R&B with the best production.
You know she is a good girl. That is why you like to see her play bad. Her performance at world music awards with Sheila E is an all time classic. One day many years from now she will have her late moment and get her flowers. And that record „Man Up“ with NAS was among the best ever recorded.
I really enjoyed this interview. Not because of the questions but because of who she is as a person. I could listen to her talk all day because she's so intelligent and well spoken. Such a breath of fresh air!
OH. MY. GAWD. I swear Ameriie has such a beautiful soul that it is beyond me. Like I am taken aback. She expresses herself with such optimism, insight, and grace. And I love how she is so focused on timing and making sure things are always in alignment with her vision: It tells me that she is a very spiritually cultivated woman. This lady has literally inspired me to delve into my creative mind. Everyone in that room was harmonized and this is by FAR my favorite Breakfast Club interview ! And also, her husband is SO LUCKY ! ! ! He should be thanking the heavens like every single day !
she had true genuine talent. No auto-tunes - just pure raw singing ability. Her dancing was classy not disgustingly disrespectful. In my opinion she was highly over looked on purpose. People flocked to Beyonce and all these other fakes.
+prehatredism p for real though, I accidentally had some of her old hits shuffled into my playlist and then ended up putting them on repeat wondering where she disappeared to. Happy to hear she got some EPs coming though
My wife put me up on Ameriie first album the songs nothing like loving you and show me. That album is a slept on classic, all of you who haven't heard it check it out you wont be disappointed trust me.
Shes a Dime Piece that is Ambitious and Full of Life I love that about her and she can really sing and dance shes incredible live...She deserves more credit for vocal talent
She's right about if you read books a lot, you may lack people to share it with. This is painfully an issue in the black community. Too many of us don't read a lick. That's one of the reasons why we're so vulnerable to those who understand psychology and use it against us and whitewash our history because we don't research ourselves to know better.
Absolutely still love Ameriie. Shes gorg, super smart & so cerebral. Im so glad she's still doing her thang! She blows Bey outta the water biggly! Personality, she writes her music, books, movie (she mentioned), plus shes awesome performer... best of all is that she dont crave attention nor validation coz she's got a good head on her shoulders! Bless yu gal. Keep doing ya thang! Like she said, the timing wasnt right for her back in 01- 06... She still got it. She still got it all.😍🖤💕
"Why don't we fall in Love" is thee summer anthem in my eyes. It's like how Will Smith's "Summer time" is the "ok/acknowledgement" button in which you know summer is here , same with this...Summer love, fun..etc
actually Jhene, her sister Mila J, and their other sister had a group around the time Immature was out. They were signed to Chris Stokes back in the day. I used to have the posters lol
Let's be clear on a couple things here because a lot of you are young as hell and know nothing on what you're speaking. Amerie's debut, All I Havs, was IT. That album is EASILY one of my top five favorite albums and this is coming from a Beyoncé Stan. I had the pleasure of meeting her years ago and she was EXTREMELY sweet. When she released Touch, she was still working with Rich Harrison, who infused a lot of the go go sound that many of you hear on that album. Rich is the one who offered Crazy in Love to Bey and from my understanding, Amerie and Rich had a falling out because she felt that he gave her sound to Bey. Bey didn't "steal" sh*t. In my opinion, Rich is to Amerie what Dark Child was to Brandy or what Timbaland and Missy were to Aaliyah. Remove that magic from any of those people and you're not likely to have the same material from the artist. Amerie is beautiful, extremely talented, and I still believe she could have a music career if that's what she's pushing for.
(Cont) but based on this interview, I can tell that she does it when she wants because she loves it and would rather not be driven by a machine. It should also be noted that while I can't vouch for her and Rich's falling out 100%, it always made perfect sense to me because after Touch, she started being all over the place with her sound. Rich, IMO, brought the best out of her. Anyway, she and Kourtney Kardashian are clearly twins. Amerie, you're the shit. Keep rocking!
+DeJah La or I could just be one who pays attention to shit rather than making broad assumptions or generalizations based on what I "want" rather than what is.
Well she also calls DC her home so of course go-go is inbred in her. Side note my older brother was in her 1st video "Why Don't We Fall In Love" and I got to meet her on set. Even though she wasn't famous yet she was super cool and hung out with me and my mom and brother and sister during those 2 days of shooting & stayed friends with my brother and mother for years until they passed away.
EVERYTHING about this comment is accurate. Her and Rich had a falling out and he started working with Beyonce, but also Ameriie started reaching out to other producers for her 2nd album. Rich was like her Darkchild, I used to think the same exact thing for years. And yes her debut can be played front to back. No SKIPS.
Exactly 5 years today and I stumbled on this video...hmmm. After listening to her talk and getting to know her, I checked her birthday and I am not surprised. Love to see more of her, her talent is remarkable.
