The long pause in church before people start clapping is classic swedish church. Everyone: "I loved it but Is it really ok to make a noice in church?" *Someone else made a noice* Everybody: "Yaay!"
You should totally see the movie, it’s sooo good❤️ I love the story and characters. And Helen is a legend. And this song is extra powerful because of the lyrics and context. Helen’s character Gabriella is a victim of domestic abuse by her husband💔 She is a very shy and quiet person and doesn’t want to sing at the beginning, but later gathers up the courage and absolutely nails it. And here she sings about wanting to be free and live her life the way she wants to. And the moment where you see her husband in the audience and she looks him dead in the eye. So powerful
That final bit “I am here and my life is only mine! And there heaven I think is there, I’ll find it somewhere”. Knowing the story too, it’s tears every time I hear or sing it! Such a great character and important story ❤️
A lot of people I've talked with about good singers agree that Helen is the go to answer for "this newly written Swedish song is amazing, who should sing?"
I lived in Germany when this movie came out. It played for TWO Years at the same theater, with full audience every night. I don’t remember how often I saw it then, but I do know that it always had the same impact!
The same thing happened in Sydney Australia! I think it might have even gone for longer than 2years?! I saw it and was in tears (I speak basic Swedish too, so love to sing along to this too)...I love love love this film ❤️
Hi. In case you haven't heard/seen it already, "Mono music" have posted the theatrical performance of that song. Believe it or not, it is even more powerfully sang. Helen pretty must yells "Du måste" at time. It is incredible.
More of Musical Kristina från Duvemåla (Peter Jöback Guldet blev sand!! Helena Sjöholm Du måste finnas 😍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e2tdBKFKOrU.html
In the movie Helen sing’s this song after escaping from her abusive husband. She takes back the power over her self and her life. The part; “mitt liv är bara mitt” is so powerful
I thought for sure Micke Nyqvist was a stand up cardboard image at the back, but then I saw him moving. His head is twice as big as everybody else's! RIP Micke
Yäääässsss! So happy that you enjoyed it. It's a really emotional song and Helen's voice gives it so much vibrancy and power. (Jag kan verkligen rekommendera den filmen. Vacker och tragisk på samma gång. En rejäl dos av mänskligt lidande, men filmen visar också hur det vackra, rena och goda kan överleva trots det.)
Thanks for that great reaction. I was A&R for this Soundtrackalbum at Virgin EMI in Sweden when it was released. I will send the link to the composer Stefan Nilsson so he can see it :) // All the best Pär Winberg
Snubblade över den här kanalen och bingade i princip alla reaction-videor. Har velat ha reaction på svenska klassiker. Perfekt innehåll - fortsätt med receptet. Insta-sub! :)
This was the very first of your videos that I happened to find and for some reason decided to check out. If you hadn't just loved this one, I would never had watched another one of your videos, so glad you did! Hope you've seen the movie by now. It's the strongest movie experience I've ever had and it took me years to be able to listen to this song without crying...
Part of that movie was filmed outside of my hometown. The school that they started the choir in is the building. We believed it was haunted, it no longer exists though.
The one of te biggest pop/rock band in sweden - KENT ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fWxUr_vDwwE.html Kent was a Swedish rock-pop band, formed in Eskilstuna in 1990. With members Joakim Berg, Martin Sköld, Sami Sirviö and Markus Mustonen, the band has had numerous radio hits throughout Sweden and Scandinavia and consecutive number-one studio albums on the Sweden top list (Sverigetopplistan) beginning with the release of Verkligen (1996) and led by the single "Kräm (så nära får ingen gå)". With origins rooted in distorted rock, they found mainstream success through their alternative rock albums of the mid-1990s, 2000s and 2010s, the latter decades during which they adopted elements of synthpop. With eleven number-one albums, five number-one singles, 23 Swedish Grammy Awards, and over 3 million record sales, Kent is considered the most popular rock/pop group within Sweden and throughout Scandinavia. Vapen & ammunition (2002) topped the Swedish charts for 95 weeks. Kent is often compared to bands like U2, Coldplay and Depeche Mode. Because Kent's songs are primarily performed in Swedish, they are unfamiliar to most English-speaking audiences. Kent briefly attempted an international career with English versions of the albums Isola (1997) and Hagnesta Hill (1999) and an accompanying American tour for the former, but stopped after finding less success than they had in Scandinavia. Joakim Berg, the lead singer and lyricist, says "there are two kinds of lyrics I write. One kind is based in places and the other is based in feelings. You move between those two whether you want to or not. 2016 get the band invold in the swedish music Hall of Fame
She's fantastic. I saw her once in Circus in Stockholm, front row and when she sang one of those long final notes she was looking straight at me. I can honestly say I felt that.
You should really see the movie! I just saw it on tv the other day. But if you see it, and you read the lyrics and understand the situation that she’s in when she is singning (being abuse by her husband and afraid of having a voice of her own) and hearing her sing ”I want to live my life”, ”I have to be happy”, ”I have never forgotten who I am, I have just let it sleep”... so powerful!! 💛💛💛 see the movie and then hear the song again and comment... the movie does add a lot, even though the song itself is amazing 😍💛🎶
Jonathan, I am so glad I found your channel! I've been listening to Svenska music for about 25 years, and I envy you, living in Sweden. May I make some suggestions? You said you had some other Marie Fredriksson Swedish classics, but I haven't seen them yet, and I recommend these: the live performance in 1988 Marie Fredriksson Jag Brande Din Bild Live Cirkus Broadway - RU-vid; of course, Marie Fredriksson - Sparvöga (Official Video) - RU-vid, and there are so many more. I've taken a liking lately to Miriam Bryant, but maybe she's not considered classical, yet. Looking forward to more.
React to everything from the group KENT 💪🏻🙌 And Anita Lindblom - Sånt är livet , Uno Svenningsson - Under ytan, Lill Lindfors - En karl, Niklas Strömstedt - Om, Orup - Regn hos mig, Darin - Ta mig tillbaka, Den svenska björnstammen - Svalkar vinden & Vart jag mig i världen vänder. I love your videos! Kör hårt! 😘🍀
Did you watch the movie, Jonathan? Michael Nyqvist was a splendid Swedish actor.. may he rest in peace. He has done some great roles in movies, you should check him out.
@ Jonathan Rollins - The movie had an Oscar nomination for best foreign film that year. It's about a conductor moving to a small village and be helps the quire to get better, and then be takes them to a big contest.
Check out Niklas Hjulström, artist name: Cue he did a song called burnin' I think it was a theme for a Swedish TV show. Supposedly he did the recording of the song in a closet at his home, not 100% sure about the last part. But the song is great, really great. He is also a great actor. Cheers
She is nice, too. I was skating for like the second time in 40 years and was a bit wobbly. She offered her hand. I would have prostrated myself on the ice before her if I hadn't been forced to ask her for help to get up afterwards.
4:51 She is singing "I have never forgot who I am, I have just pust it to sleep for a while. Maybe I had no choice, more than the will to keep existing at all". Not litteraly translated. Had to add some words to make it correct. Maybe somebody else have a better translation tho'. We played this on my dads funeral. Have song for me. Listen to Thomas Stenström - Ser du månen
Helene Sjöholm singing "Du måste finnas" from "Kristina från Duvemåla" at a concert hall in Minesota, is probably one of the gratest performances from a swedish artist ever. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2idVI73ais.html&ab_channel=baflat
The music of this song is written of Benny Andersson of Abba, a guy that cannot even read music. If the film is available with english subtitels - watch it. It gives the song an emotional foundation - espessionaly if you are traditional feminist.
I guess all of you check out the lyrics, and translate it to your own languages... This is a powerful song... A really powerful song... It's now that life is mine I've had a moment here on earth And my longing has brought me here What I missed and what I got That is still the path I have chosen My confidence far away from the words Which has shown a little bit Of the heaven I never reached I want to feel that I'm alive All the time I have, I will live as I want I want to feel that I'm alive Know that I am enough (Oh, oh, oh ...) I have never forgotten who I was I just let it sleep Maybe I had no choice Only the will to remain I want to live happily Because I'm me Be able to be strong and free See how the night goes towards the day I'm here And my life is just mine And the heaven I thought existed Should I find it somewhere I want to feel like I've lived my life
Absolutely Guldet blev till sand Peter Jöback Anthem Tommy Körberg Both songs are in musicals written by Björn and Benny (after ABBA they started composing musicals) Look att the ones that are older. Two best musicalstars in Sweden, maybe in the world. You heard Tommy Körberg Stad i ljus when he was changing more and more from pop into musicals. You have to see them. If you think Helen blew you of the chair, just listen to these ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jzsUxUhBCtE.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DWLlB41GlvU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1xnpfwTkfV0.html Enjoy
I think you should see when Helen Sjöholm in her early 20’s is singing ”Du måste finnas” from the musical ”Kristina från Dufvemåla”. I think it was her breakthrough and most swedes would probably deem it as a classic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2idVI73ais.html
