I listened to "Electric" for the first time. Here's my reaction. Here's the Spotify playlist of all of the reactions I've done: open.spotify.com/playlist/5Dz...
I used to dj at a "fritidsgård" back in the day and this track was a staple, had the kids go crazy. One of the few songs I actually enjoyed playing with it's grittiness, like the punk of Euro disco. And Jessica Folcker sings the chorus.
This is pretty much what Europe sounded like between 1992 and 1995. For more Swedish Eurotechno check out: E-Type - Russian Lullaby Basic Element - Promised man Flexx - Wake up! Look Twice - Move That Body Dr. Alban - Sing Hallelujah Melodie MC - Anyone out there
Ooooh!! I don’t know if someone has suggested him already, but while on the topic of euro dance, you neeeeed to listen to E-Type and I would recommend “This is the way”.
Reaction requests: Come Along by Titiyo.Neneh Cherry's half sister reached the charts internationally in 2001. A much smoother piece compared to Buffalo Stance. Jocke Berg (again) behind this song together with Peter Svensson (The Cardigans). Moviestar by Harpo (Jan Svensson) was a world wide hit in 75 - 76. "So you went to Sweden to meet Ingmar Bergman. He wasn't there or he just didn't care". Ah the lyrics.. Oh Susie by Secret Service (1979). It may not have aged well, but come on - number one in 29 countries! Your reactions put a smile on my face. Keep'em coming!
Electric was produced by famous Max Martin & Dennis Pop in their early days. But Leila K was discovered by Rob 'N' Raz. You should check out their "In Command" for some more 90's hits... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_5CPlQNmuAk.html
In a new interview in a Tunisian tv show redone said that when he was at the first time in the studio with gaga he showed her a Moroccan/Sweden artist called Leila k and gaga liked her style so much and she was open of doing something inspired from her Det ni 😉.
I'm so glad you did this one! Finally some energy in the music :) Please do Du ska va president with Imperiet as well. Suitable in this time of government crisis ;)
If you decide to do it please take a live performance and not straight from a studio album. Studio versions by Imperiet are a bit lame. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L4y9g-2RbXY.html
Just an idea, to ensure that you will get the most classic tune from a certain artist. When you decided on an artist, create a RU-vid poll for that artist and we can all help you find the most classic tune for that artist.
Still think that you need to explore Just D who's been a huge inspiration for swedish hip hop/rap. Ever if they were mid/upper class and did it a bit ironic, they still inspired a whole generation. Also want to hear your reaction to Infinite Mass - Area turns red, which is as much 90's gangsta rap we get in Sweden. Also Looptroop (Rockers) been a huge influence for my generation and swedish musicians, not sure if "the struggle continues" can be classified as a swedish classic, but still it's a great song that inspired many people as well and deserve some time in the spotlight 😊
Alright Jonathan. Long time viewer, first time suggester. Here's a comprehensive list I've put together. None of these songs have been reacted to so far, but we do have some repeat artist.
God, you need to watch the Leila K documentary "Fuck You, Fuck You Very Much" - it explores a lot of Leila's issues but also about how females are expected to behave in the media industry.
Coming to E-Type, you can pick just about any song - they're all the same. And they're all great, I'm a big fan of E-Type. Free like a flying deamon and Arabian star are favourites.
No thanks to me and my friends (who were always mocking her, the highest-grossing female artist in Europe, because we were assholes?) Leila is finally out from her forensic psych ward and doing fine. ❤
Red One the producer tried to convince Leila K to work with him but she wouldn’t. So he went on to work with an unknown Lady Gaga. Judas is very Leila K-esque
Thats not true at all .. leila k was already retired from making music when redone was a producer in Sweden .. he just play leila's music to lady gaga when he first met her in 2007 because she reminded him of leila k .. and gaga was so inspired by her music and thats it
Even in the '90s this song divided people. I don't know if it was the intensity of the song or that she was too cocky for some Swedes. It was a big hit, but some hated it. Either way, I loved the intensity of it. I think you might like the sound of her song Rude Boy more.
She was a total pest at the time, but still we all loved her! I am *so* happy she seems to do better, and may I...erm I don't care. I'm Swedish! Listen to "Open Sesame" (I know half of the dancers. Biblically (it was many years ago. Now I'm chaste. And after that "Ça Plane Pour Moi", which I sang a few times at the local karaoke bar, when my BFF - who likes the slot machines - commented "that's not French!" I can happilly declare that I know the lyrics to "Ça Plane Pour Moi" by heart, and even native French folks are impressed, because they can't do it it! 😮 Go listen to it, because it's such a fun song! And when you nail it karaoke style, it's like you conquered the Olympics! ...if you have low standards (Swedish modesty. I'm fab AF!) Peace out!
Man you should react to Carola - När löven faller, here is the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zsiI30Prv3s.html she's probably the best female singer in Sweden.
Last I heard about her, long ago was that she was at the Grammis in the audience and simply just went out between the seats in the aisle and squatted for a pee. I thought it was hilarious at the time but now I feel like it wasn't a rational decision. Especially not after what you just said.
