This song is a classic, the album is a classic and Lill is a first class artist. And she's got humour. In ESC 1985 she was the host and shocked the whole of Europe by dropping her skirt just to turn her top into a dress. I remember the feeling when I saw her panic and heard the confused laughter from the audience and the relief when I understood it was just a joke. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that after that ESC changed the rules, so you no longer are allowed to come with any surprises that wasn't a part of the rehearsal.
I would simply translate "En sån karl" to "What a man", same meaning and used the same way. Lill is one of those artists that are loved by anyone in Sweden, even those born long after her prime. She also dabbled in comedy and you can hear when she is talking that she is really quick and funny. And not afraid of making a fool out of herself. :) And she has got a ton of classics. "Du är den ende", "En man i byrån" and "Musik ska byggas utav glädje" might be the biggest ones. And "Sommaren i city". That's a true "sommarplåga", a summer pain. And there is a reason they are called that.. The type of music that works when it's hot outside and you have turned the brain off for the summer holiday.
The orignal song is performed by Jackie Lee (Just like a man) 1967. So this is swedish translation of Just like a man which Lill Lindfors translated. The melodies in both songs are quite smilar to each other, so if you listen to one those songs you can actually hear that they almost sound the same.
Ann-Christine Bärnsten - Ska vi plocka körsbär i min trädgård? Secret Service - Oh Susie Magnum Bonum - Lover Boy (svenska versionen) Factory - Efter plugget
Lill Lindfors is a national treasure! If you ever is in the mood watching old Eurovision Song Contests, you should check out 1985 when she was hosting the whole event, she did something that was really shocking at the time, that I don´t think had been done on live television, at least not in a huge internation event like that, I'm not going to spoil what it was. She is super charming she is out on tour in Sweden this fall, and it´s sold out everywhere. If you want to react to more Lill Lindfors, I recommend "Du är den ende", "Jag tycker inte om dig", "Musik ska byggas utav glädje", "Nygammal vals", "Hör min samba" och "En man i byrån", just to name a few. Pronunciation tip, the letter l in the world "karl" is silent, so you say "En sån kar", while in the _name_ Karl the letter r is silent, so you say "kal". Btw, Lill's hair in the background almost made it look that you decided to do this reaction in a huge wig!
That the "r" in the name Karl is silent isn't really true. In some dialects the r almost completely disapears in some words, and that might be what you are thinking of here. But there is pretty much always at least a remnant of the R left, so Kal and Karl would not be pronounced the same.
@@rickardelimaa You mean you would hear no difference at all if someone said Kal or Karl? Not sure I buy that, although I have to admit I don't know how your r's are in Nyköping. :) In the rest of Sweden you would hear a difference, even if the r is extremely weak sometimes, just a little bend in the tongue between the A and L. EDIT: I doubt that Jonathan would hear the difference with those weaker R's though, I think you would have to be born and raised in Sweden or otherwise extremely gifted in language. :) I'm totally with you that the L is silent in the word karl though. Kar and karl sounds exactly the same. Except that one is "en karl" and the other is "ett kar". Oh, I'm glad I'm not learning swedish as a second language. :)
@@jonashansson2320 My middle name is Karl. :) I know what you're getting at, where the tongue is more rounded (compare: "kall" vs "kal"), but now when I'm sounding it out, I have the same shape on my tongue no matter if it's my middle name or my bald spot I'm talking about. :P
The first song taught myself to play on my guitar was Du är den ende. However I think her Swedish version of Jaques Brel's Ne me quitte pas is also very good, and far, far better than the icky oversweet made by Terry Jacks.
En tips på en liknande artist är Sylvia Vrethammar. Min favoritlåt med henne är "Tycker om dej". Jag tror definitivt du skulle tycka det är en banger! 😎 Magnus Uggla tolkade låten i Så Mycket Bättre säsong 3 (2012).
Now, this is a real classic. This is that kind of song that people can singa phrase from without even heard the song itself. You should react to the classic Mälarö Kyrka by Lenne Broberg. :)

I prefer the cover of this made by Anne-lie Ryde. musically almost identical, but updated to be more rocky, but anne-lies voice brings it even higher. but thats just me, I dont know how many agrees with me.
I like the version with Annelie Ryde better .. You like good voices , so you should listen to Segla på ett moln with her. And of course you must hear Du är den ende with Lill Lindfors to..
Also, please react to this classic! It is Swedens Eurovision entry 1966. A duet by Lill Lindfors and Svante Turesson, it's a great song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v7nHCUIhubU.html (Don't mind the lyrics though. I, born swede, don't understand it.)
Absolutly not christmas bells! You are too young to know! The christmas Bells are simulating(?) the bells you put on a horse in darkness to hear when you can't see it coming. Think of a horse and how it mowes! I heard a new, I supose, christmas song some years ago whith a badly limping horse! That was terrible to listen to!!
Jag gråter glädjetårar varje gång jag hör den.(fick den som special på brölloppsnatten) ..detta är den Svenske mannen..inte aftonbladets knullmördare. vi finns o vi bygger landet
