In USA you talk about "Christmas Miracle". People seem to expect miracles at Christmas. In Sweden Christmas is all about light. In almost every Christmas song we sing about darkness and light. At the darkest time of the year (and you know by now that it really IS dark in Sweden in december), Christmas mark the turning point. The light is coming back to us ... :-)
Sissel Kyrkebø has sung in both Titanic (for example the scene where Rose says "I'm flying!") and Lord of The Rings (“The Last Debate/Asëa Aranion"). She also sings in The Rapsody's "Prince Igor" together with Warren G. Sissel is incredibly talented. 💕
Sissel Kyrkjebø is known as SISSEL. Sissel is one of the worlds best ( if not the best ) crossover female sopranos. If you have seen the movie TITANIC you have heard her, she does the hounting voice in the movie. 3 times she has songed with The Tabernacle Choir, last in 2019 Pioneer Concert. One of the songs got a newer ending applause from almost 20000 people. Thankyou for this! Sissel is indeed a huge star and has been so since the 80s. Well known and loved in Norway, Sweden and Denmark and as I saw someone mentioned, she did the song "Prince Igor" with the Rapsody and Warren G in the end of the 90s so many have heard her voice. She is a fantastic singer! Wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
Laleh. Great singer. In my opinion she has the finest voice of maybe any swedish singer. It has personality. Great songs she has written also. They also have personalyties.
Love your reactions , your facial expressions says it all. Maybe thats why we love your reactions so much , showing all your emotions which we Swedes not so good at
There's a lot of Swedish Christmas classics left, so don't worry, you'll have material for next year as well :) Only thing is that you might have trouble avoid them when Christmas times comes about lol (you'll have to put your fingers in your ears and sing "lalala" when you hear something you haven't heard before around Christmas).
A very Merry Christmas to you! Watching this on Christmas Eve (Funny how some countries celebrate Christmas day but not New years day, confusing, we stick with Christmas eve and New years eve).
1. Zemya Hamilton- Min arm omkring din hals 2. Ratata- Jackie 3. Sator- I wanna go home 4. Whale- Hobo Humping Slobo Babe ( Ja det är Henrik Schyffert som sjunger) 5. Perssons pack- Tusen dagar härifrån 4. Popsicle- Undulate 5. Rob n Raz- Club hopping 6. Titiyo- Flowers 7. Thåström- Alla vill till himlen 8. Latin Kings- Snubben
I think you Jonathan would really love this song but the other version / duet with Swedish deep voice Christer Sjögren and Charlotte Nilsson. (Don’t have to do a reaction but I am kind of sure you would like that version a lot better - check it out it you feel like it 🥰. Peace.)
Here's some older Swedish classics: Flottarkärlek - Snoddas Köppäbävisan - Bengt Pegefelt Varm korv boogie - Owe Törnqvist Summan kummar - Allan Nilsson (inofficial national song of Gotland)
This isn't a specific song or even really "classics" but I'd be curious to see you react to the sort of swedish popreggae like Kapten röd, general knas, Svenska Akademien, etc.
It's a great song, but I get what you mean I think. Partly because of the flexing, and partly because of how mello-showy it is, it ends up not really having that warm winter coziness that is so often associated with swedish christmas music.
The main reason why we sing about the darkness in a lot of our Christmas songs is probably because "Jul" originaly is a pagan celebration of the winter solstice and has nothing to do with Christianity.
I’d love to hear your reaction on Timbuktus version of Flickan och kråkan by Mikael Wiehe 😍 the one and only song Timbuktu actually is singing throughout the entire song, no rap whatsoever! Also Teddybjörnen Fredriksson by Lasse Berghagen September/Petra Marklunds version of Mikrofånkåt by Petter!!
@@JonathanRollinssthlm305 Oh, sorry, I must’ve missed those times. I’ll try to get back and listen to it now instead. I am an avid listener! I’ll add one more I think you should listen to, and that is Det är över nu, Gyllene Tider. You didn’t do that one, I hope? 😉
I think that you know the song Prince Igor, which featured Sissel so you have probably heard her before. I agree with you, nice song but lacking that Christmas feeling. You should not be saying "Billy Butt do your thing", google him, horrible person. Merry Christmas. 🎄
You should change the title around on your videos to have the artist and song first and then the podcast name. "Sissel Kyrkebø & Tommy Körberg - Amerikanen Reacts to Svenska Klassiker". The reason is that it's very hard to scroll through your video list and find songs that you like because there is not enough space for the song and artist names. Your thumbnail already has the name "Amerikanen Reacts to Svenska Klassiker" so there is no direct need for having that long name again so prominently in the video title. I think you would get more drop in viewers if you made this simple change.
