So far, Ireland (Éire) has more wins than any other country in (the) Eurovision (Song Contest) history with an honorable national anthem recognized by the European Broadcasting Union, the European Union, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations.
In 1994 when the World Cup Football Tournament was played here in the U.S. I went to an Ireland game and was prepared to sing the irish national anthem as much as I know it. I stood, and as the fans sang, they sang in Irish. I didn't know the Irish version but stood. So much for "Soldiers are we."
