Current chairlet here rocking the Bayside Furnishings $100 Costco chair that's falling apart and first purchased in 2019. I want to get a nice ass chair to sit in. I just wonder how much the *want*-factor plays in this. I keep hearing that the Amia is more comfortable. But I *want* the Gesture because it looks so gorgeous to me, and never having owned a decent chair I'm attracted to the design of the gesture and the arms. One thing too is that I like to put one leg up sometimes with one down kind of like a half criss-cross; but I think I mostly do that because my chair is uncomfortable to begin with. IDK. I've enjoyed watching through your ratings and rankings and such. I wish there was a way for me to just sit in them but there isn't really a location near me to try any of them.

@@tredey1 i was torn between the 3 myself and now that i have the gesture, it really doesnt help that much as i still want to try the other 2 lol. the gesture is a solid chair that really helps your posture but 2 things make me unhappy. one is that i wish it had the rocking recline that the aeron has and the other is the seat. while its comfy and supportive, i find that the soft front edge kinda makes it feel small. it's really weird but at 5'10'' with shorter legs, the seat seems like its not deep enough unless i put my butt all the way to the back. if you kinda casually sit down with some space behind your lower back, then the seat seems a bit short. it is wide though. all in all, it's a great seat and the head rest is awesome. if you want the best headrest, fabric, and build quality, i dont think you can beat this.

@jc3drums916
@jc3drums916 6 месяцев назад
@@willc2935 I'm just under 5'11" with long legs. I recently purchased a Gesture. I agree, the seat seems a bit shallow front to back. I guess that's what the seat pan depth adjustment is for, but the downside is, the further forward you slide the seat pan, the closer to the back edge you're sitting...which is where the seat has the least amount of cushion. Unless I get both the seat pan adjustment and height really dialed in, AND I sit with my butt slightly forward, it feels like there's a bar going across my butt/tailbone. Not only does this leave a bit more space between the front edge of the seat pan and the back of my knees/calves, this somewhat defeats the purpose of the chair, which is to be comfortable in a variety of positions. On the plus side, I didn't get the adjustable lumbar support, and sitting with my butt slightly forward brings my lumbar down to the ideal height for the seat back's lumbar curve. The arm rests are nice, except that they don't completely lock in place, which can be really annoying for OCD people who want perfectly and symmetrically positioned armrests, lol. A few other notes: 1) I got the Era fabric. I wanted Billiard Multi, because it's softer, but IMHO Era has better colors. Plus, it's more durable and will better retain its color. Also, Era isn't nearly as coarse and scratchy as some other fabrics I've encountered on cheap chairs, so overall I'm happy with it. 2) I guess I have long arms too. The armrests are barely low enough for me at their lowest setting. Actually, I wish they could be tilted downward ever so slightly - the height under my elbows is fine, but not under my wrists. 3) The armrest pads could be softer. 4) The upper portion of the back rest, where the fabric wraps back, is not flexible, for obvious reasons. 5) The platinum metallic finish on the base and frame is shinier than it how it appears in photos. To me, it makes it look a little cheap, but YMMV. I also found a couple spots where it looked like the frame was scraped, but it feels perfectly smooth, like Steelcase didn't repair the scrape before clear-coating it or something. I'm not happy about it, but I don't know if it's worth the effort of requesting an exchange (assuming I don't decide the chair is not comfortable enough). I read quite a few reviews which said their Gestures arrived damaged, so caveat emptor.

If you're a fan of Steelcase chairs and absolutely want to avoid mesh chairs, then the Amia or Leap v2 should be better choices. @@btodtv I think I need a chair where it is impossible to ever bottom out on. I am sceptical on the padding on the fern, as I am someone who bottoms out on chairs quickly as my buttocks lacks the natural padding and being 215lbs; I sink into the chair padding faster than normal I would say. I saw the embody , but I think that has an issue with the thighs cutting off circulation similar to the gesture. If I purchase an Amia, would a 2nd hand one suffice or would the padding be worn down? I quite liked the idea of the Lamia.

could also be viewing angle of your screen/work station....and orientation of your mouse/keyboard/workspace as well. Or if you often rotate/turn your head/neck/spine to look at a "master" tv/monitor for "work flow" in an office....or a corkboard/bs "paper" related data...or Human elements on a constant basis...while also tilting/turning to look at your work station/monitor. This can easily cause back pain/chronic back pain. IMO consider changing your height/arm height bc These aspects do apply to constantly gyrating/turning around rotating your spine/neck.
