A slightly ominous variation of "Family Ties", a track from The Walking Dead: Season One. You can hear this a few times in the first season. Like investigating Jolene's camp, or when you're in front of the drug store with Doug. You can also hear it in A New Frontier. Basically... it's exploration music, according to its file name.
This track is more commonly known as being featured on the "Amid The Ruins" slide of The Walking Dead: Season Two. Lots of mystery to it, the song and the bizarre slide. RU-vidr InColdBlood has an interesting video about the slide you might enjoy: • The Walking Dead Game:...
I tried to remove the text on the image, but I didn't realize it looked kinda funky until after I uploaded. I think it's only noticable if your screen has high brightness. Oh well

Most mysterious episode title screen i probably have ever seen tbh, and this music, it just has this unsetling aura.

It frustrates me that in the "definitive edition", the models lack details in the main menu, for example, Clem's image without the blood on her face and without the shadow covering her body. 😢

i miss child Clem. Wish there were more where she was this age. It is so refreshing to view a game like this through the eyes of a little girl.

Yeah, Season 2 was definitely one of the most unique and special gaming experiences. The whole "little girl alone in the woods" thing just hit super different to me, but then the writing just came off as subpar, they cut a lot of good content from it, most character deaths are so rushed and completely killed off the potential that characters like Nick or Sarah had. It really hurts how special the game starts off as but then it just ends in such...mediocre writing to the point where it's just so unsatisfying.

@@cosmicmariana i agree with you on that. loved the idea, hated the execution. or in this case, the writing. So many dead characters that carried the season and should have lived. Etc.

It actually drives me crazy that this slide is so cryptic for no good reason. Every slide in season 1 was so straightforward and then there is this which makes little to no sense within the context of the final game. It drives me me even more crazy that this isn't even the original song that went with this slide, and there is little to no explanation why the unused song is the way it is, and the people who do know about this stuff don't want to talk about it for some reason. It's sad to think that when Telltale first went under they most likely wiped the hard drives that contained the scripts and revisions for season 2. I hope someday we find the answers, but overall thank you for looping this. This is really cool and I love this song

Someone who understands how I feel. I have always been fascinated by this diorama. It has so many variations for some reason, and there's obviously the debate about why Eddie is there (and why his face is the only one visible, even after revision?), and who that mysterious fifth person hidden behind Clem is supposed to be. The Definitive Edition, released in 2020, doesn't even have the blood on Clementine's face, which makes you wonder why it was changed again. The unused song sets the tone for a much darker episode, or it just represents something metaphorically. Season Two seems to have gone through a lot of changes, and I'd love to know what the ideas were too.

@@calamitytilt Wow, I never realized they took out the blood on Clementine's face. I watched my friend play s1 and s2 on the def edition but I guess I didn't notice that. Honestly though it's not surprising they would do that. The Amid the Ruins diorama has lots of weird changes to it. I wonder if they ever considered making an entirely new one for it, and it's also interesting because all of the dioramas between all the different versions of this game seem to have weird oddities to them in the sense that they were changed at one point throughout the games life cycle, and different versions of the game may have different music used for some of the dioramas. I was playing the xbox 360 demo of Season 2 and it actually still uses many of the unused music that was taken out in later updates and versions of the game, and I have to wonder why? I have a gut feeling just based on the tone that was immediately set by the music in that demo that whatever they were planning I doubt it was supposed to just be metaphorical, but who really knows? Anyways thanks for liking my comment and thanks again for looping the song

People used to argue if it was blood or "war paint" so it could be a reason haha. You're right. Lots of leftover, out of context bits in Telltale games unfortunately. S2 EP5's original name is also telling: "Better To Sleep". But hey, no problem. I love Season Two. Thanks for your comment!

@@calamitytilt A friend of mine tried matching the model behind Clementine with a few others like 400 Days characters or just NPCs from S1. We managed to find the model to the right of Clementine (NOT Eddie, the one behind her, but to the right; who looks like Walter). We found that it was pretty much a perfect match for a random bandit character in S1. However, the model behind her is a little trickier. We think it's either Dee, the Stranger, or possibly another NPC. I think Dee is supposed to be the reflection of ''Bonnie'', and the bandit is supposed to be ''Mike'', as originally Mike was supposed to be that one bandit (Ralph) that threatened Christa in the woods. I think it's so stupid how they scrapped that plot point and made Mike a completely new character. It makes him feel so hollow and out of purpose...especially weird when Luke randomnly distrusts him even though he's been nothing but useful. S2 is definately the most mysterious season in terms of cut stuff, however it's easy to fall for the people spreading a bunch of false statements, like that one guy saying ''Troy was going to molest Clementine''. Everyone believes that, when it's literally been debunked by Troy's VA. (who also voices Omid, as well.) It was just some guy posting his fanfiction, and everybody to this day still spreads it around.

@@cosmicmariana Interesting! That's cool. Makes sense for the characters to represent the ones actually in the episode. Kenny's is the only recognisable silhouette (Vince, originally, I think?) Mike is boring as it is, so I agree he should've kept his original purpose. It definitely would have fleshed him out, and wouldn't have even changed anything for the story (in its current state). His appearance is intriguing, with the scar and the chunk out of his ear, and we don't hear anything about it. I feel like when his betrayal came, the cut ability to shoot him would have made more sense. Yeah, the game has its rumors, and the theories when the episodes were coming out were wild. The Troy thing is so bizarre. I think people believe it simply because of the weird comment he makes to Clem and Sarah at the beginning of Episode 3. When you read it in conjunction with the rest of the "original" plot, it just sounds unhinged.

It's creepier, that's for sure, but this one feels like a track that you could listen to for hours and never get bored; unironically it kinda embodies Season 2 well, you can imagine a darker twist of the story being played out as the track goes on. The unused track definitely sounds more disturbing, but this one sounds disturbing in a depressing, haunting way. I also don't think the unused track fits the current story of Season 2, there's barely anything dark on it, even if some moments are good, they are kinda forgettable because the game decides to focus on other things rather than those.
