In this Episode we will install a new replacement keyboard membrane on my Amiga Vampire 600 V2. Though this Keyboard Membrane costs more than the usual membrane replacements, it's quality far exceeds other options currently available, it's worth every penny. A600 and A500 /A1200 versions are available from time to time on eBay, so check it out :)

The A500 version only supports single header variants. Check for this if you decide to get one.

Thanks, the shot at @23:08 helped me identify the orientation after the membrane was already sandwiched in.

I got one for my A1200 the caps lock key did not work. I fitted it it works ok now. I found when you fit the keyboard to the motherboard I just push it in. The keyboard cable is a bit longer. It makes a very good contact. They cost a bit more but worth it. So I got a spare one for my A500+ just in case.

I have one for my 1200 as well. It too gave up the ghost. I agree, these are worth evey penny. A great future proof option ;)

I have replaced a few membranes and then the Hard Versions came out. On the A500 its not always the membrane which causes keyboard issues but dry solder joints on the keyboard PCB. I have given some thought about buying some hard membranes to have on the shelf should I run into a problem but most of the Amiga's I use are racked and connected to a KVM Switch so I really don't use the original keyboards. I have a Furia and the best place for it is in the box. I replaced it with a Vampire and never looked back. I have played with 3.2 only in WinUAE just to setup a card and play with it but have yet to put it in a Classic Amiga but so far its worked out well but for me everything I was doing with my Amiga's has been put on hold as the needs of much needed PM's on my car have taken priority.

I haven't had my luck regarding repair attempts on keyboard membranes. Either they don't work properly or not for long :) At least this way, the repair will last a long time.

I bought the Hard Keyboard Membrane for the A600 from eBay. Amiga 500/1200 versions are also available. They usually cost around $60 CAD or $45 USD. Not too expensive considering the quality versus the stock membrane. Search for "Amiga 600 Keyboard" on eBay and you'll get the results you need. They are in stock most of the time, some are available now. (thanks for watching my Videos!).
