The Amiga was awesome. Some of my favourite Amiga games are not transferred over to console variants. Lemmings, Jimmy White Snnoker. Magic Pockets, Pushover, Cannon Fodder, Sensible Works of Soccer. All fantastic pieces of software
well i'm 50 this year is that oldf? and I have Played almost every single console when possible, but now my PS5 & Series X and me High End Gaming Rig with a 5900x CPU
I still have not played amiga cd yet an old friend of mine at 1 but didn't get the chance to play it hopefully you both get the thumbs up and move to your new home very soon.
I only recently learned why I never saw a CD32 in the US back in its day. Turns out that Commodore owed the US government import tariffs still for the Amiga so the US Commerce Dept put a freeze on all Commodore imports. All the US destined NTSC models got diverted to Canada.
Just randomly got recommended your channel but have to say I enjoyed the video. The Amiga CD 32 is always one of those systems that has eluded me even though I wanted one at the time, probably didn't help that it was released at that time in the 90s when there were more consoles on the market than ever. Now if anything I am put off by the price and the condition of some of the systems I see listed on ebay so it is one of those systems I have to experience through others. Although you not having the official pad is probably a blessing as that cheap SNES job is probably already a better build quality.
The Amiga, my golden gaming days. Played Lotus but I was more of a fan of Super Cars 2. Remember a snowy course on Lotus 3 I believe. Another World is my all time favourite games, gotta check that out. New to your channel, definitely a fan now.
Nice machine, Amiga in videogame console form :) The games in Lotus Trilogy is always fun to play. Found this game very late, in 2019. Better late than never. Clearly much smoother gameplay experience, than Out Run, even with basic Amiga 500.
I had all these games on my Amiga, properly takes me back, I think some of these Amiga32 have dodgy drives where you need to apply pressure to the top of the drive to get the disk to read!
So much retro goodness! Great video! Still remember Christmas day when I got mine. It wasn't a merry Christmas though because it didn't switch on :D It was a long wait to receive my replacement in January!
The only game of the ones you played that was actually a CD32 game (AGA) was Aladdin, the rest of them were Amiga 500 games on a CD. See if you can get hold of Super Stardust and Banshee 👍
@@TheGebs24 Not a problem Gebs, thank you for the video, it was very well put together 🤗🤗 I've still got my 1200 set up that I bought back in 1992. Should have kept my original 500 though ☹
I'd definitely like to check out the CD32 at some point as i've never played one (and it does look pretty cool) but I recently purchased a PC Engine Duo so i'm focused on obtaining games for that system right now and they aren't the cheapest to acquire!
2 is my favourite :) the A500 plus was my first gaming machine I could call my own I was 14 at the time. With a mix of genuine games and back ups. I got an A1200 with a hard drive 120mbs! Woooooooo lol and sold my 500 to a friend with some joysticks a huge selection of games in a disc case and an external disc drive. I moved all my discs into to large boxes to keep them clean.
Love the videos showing what's in ya collection💛 It's cool seeing what's out there! I've never seen an Amiga in person, they're not very common here. I just checked E Bay and there's only one for sale AU$1050 CIB
Great video. I'd love to get a few of the less common consoles in my collection. The Amiga CD, the Philips CDi, the Neo Geo etc. I'll have to enjoy them through your videos for now.
I've had a CD32 a long time and had one new back in the day, I've never seen Aladdin on it before and there are none on eBay, interested to know if it actually came out or if it's the basic Amiga version if it's on a backup disc
One unique game for AMiGA 500 or 600 is the CADAVER, another is the MOONSTONE , and another one is the HIREDGUNS... each one with it's glorious fame ... I believe that the king of all is the DUNGEON MASTER by FTL ! It was the first dungeon and the last one , a game that has everything inside of it ... anyway just some personal opinions about AMiGA games back in time ... Keep the AMiGA exploration live my Girl !
I wouldn't worry about not having original pads there are so bad, fell to bits in a couple of weeks I remember having to buy 2 third party turbo game pads.
I can honestly say that the replica SNES pad beats the crud out of the native CD32 pad. Having tried both there is no contest. I recently completed Alien Breed II using the SNES pad and it was a joy as the controller was never a barrier to playing the game. Bliss!
Hey gems , I had a channel card ages ago when you sent me my prize of Loaded in the ps1 . Played it the other day determined to beat it. I was wondering if I could get a new channel card sent)? I am not sure how to get my address to you.in secret. Hope you don’t mind me asking. The newest ones look fancy
Nice video and footage! A good selection of games. About Lotus: I prefer the Lotus 2 and its music theme😍. The Alien Breed gives me some good memories. IINM , the alien sound from the game is a recording from the sound guy's cat 😅 I think I hear that at some related podcast
Good luck with that thing, i got mine half a year ago bought a lot of stuff for it and now it stopped working cos i accidentally switched the yellow and white AV output cable into a hdmi converter!!!! So now i'm left with +600 euro's of CD32 goodness that only produces sound but no image anymore.....very sad. I hope you have more luck with yours. BTW if anyone reads this tips to fix this are welcome.
I'd love to see a Lemmings reboot. Did you ever play the 1st James Pond? Everyone seems to remember Robocod but James Pond Underwater agent was amazing.
In Alien Breed you can go throw doors by shooting them. Also, I believe there´s an option to lock the character in position, so you can move pointing in the same direction.
Love alien breed still have my dos pc copy sound is better on the amiga. Would love to get a cd32 but it would be easier to find a purple squirrel here in the states.
Lotus 2 turbo challenge. As a kid, I remember typing in terpentine for some sort of cheat. We had a 500plus. I always used a sega master system dpad, one with the square directional pad.
These aren't necessarily the games that I was interested in buying on CD back then. I didn't have the CD32, but I played a lot of CD32 games on my Amiga 4000. Wing Commander, Subwar 2050, Gunship 2000, Inheritor of Earth. Alien Breed 3D, Beneath a Steel Sky, Gloom... Most of the games were no different from the floppy disk versions. But you didn't have to change disks, and some had extra music on the audio track. Some even have voice acting throughout. However, a memory expansion should be installed on the CD32 because the games then run faster.
Must be your controller or 'back-up' as I have no problem with Lost Vikings. Aladdin, however I could not manage :( I wish Lotus Esprit went full screen when playing Solo :( The Graphic Adventures (Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath a Steel Sky etc) are the sorts of game best suited for CD32 IE No Disk Swapping, More Music + SFX. But the CD32's Save Memory is quite small --- needs cards like the PS.
Lotus 1 is one of the greatest games of all time. Such a shame they changed the legendary music from the original when transferring it to CD32, it wasn't changed for the better. Still awesome games and collection though
I agree the CD music was actually worse than the original tunes, and the worse part is they didn’t add any CD music to Lotus II when the disk version had none!
Chaos Engine would definitely be worth getting. Loved that game on my A500+ Other ones worth a look, Cannon Fodder and also Syndicate, Fire And Ice and Moonstone. So many memories playing all those.
@@TheGebs24 It was hideous and rubbish but today, It costs a fortune. If you want a nice one, monster joystick is a cool one but its also a little bit expensive and its an arcade stick.
@@neilo3476 I would say the honeybee model was inspired in the mega drive one and not the cd32. The major problem with the cd32 joypad was not that it was hideous, it was the terrible quality. :)
@@pnvgordinho I respectfully disagree - the CD32 controller lead to others being made in its design. So much so that Nintendo honeybee controllers are often marketed (on ebay) as CD32 to up their price.
Can we just say that it's Amiga not AMiga? Also the CD32 was indeed similar to the A1200 but with different custom chips and different capabilities. To make a CD32 into an A1200 was relatively simple, albeit expensive. To make an A1200 into a CD32 was impossible (custom chips)
That lemmings game, you must be playing an Amiga computer version. The original cd32 joypad does not. Have a button A. Or maybe the original programmers forgot to include the joypad buttons when porting the game.
Lovely video. However, what's a little sad on 32 bit CD32 is that most of it's games are just 16 bit A500 floppy games slapped on a CD. Most games don't utilitize even a half of CD32's potential. Like The Lost Vikings on this video, it's just an A500 game and therefore inferior to SNES version for eg. And I totally agree about the controller issue. As most Amiga games are originally made only one button joystick in mind, that lead to obivious issues on playing the game on a joypad. Meanwhile jumping by pressing up on joystick was obviously the most natural thing to do that lead to unintentional jumps on using joypad which is really annoying! We can thank lazy Amiga devs for that who didn't (mostly) fixed this issue for CD32 versions. Like said, they were just happy to slap old Amiga games as they were on a CDs without making any CD32 specific changes/enhancements.
Thats always a myth, only around 50 games are A500 ports, the rest are either A1200 ports, games released at the same time, or cd only games. But it was always going to get ports to start with, after all it was/is an Amiga under the hood, i would have been annoyed if i didn’t get the chance to buy Amiga games on CD tbh!
@@CastleFamilyThe Maybe but still... CD32 enchangements were usually next to none. CD32 was not a PlayStation but it was still capable of much more what was usually on it's CDs.
@@KarpowSCX the PSX never existed in the lifetime of the CD32 so i don’t know why people even compare it! Plus you have to remember Commodore went under 6 months after the CD32 was released, no new consoles were being made, you can’t expect publishers to spend loads of money on CD32 extras at that time, i guess we can be thankful it had as many games, other discs and expansions as it did for something that short lived. And yes of course it was capable of alot of Mega CD style FMV games, but alot were canned when the news broke and took too long for the Amiga brand to get back to market.
@@CastleFamilyThe Amiga CD32 and PlayStation were still the same generation consoles. Commodore at the time when CD32 launched was pretty much already in the coffin waiting to be burried. A walking dead if I may say so. Amiga CD32 is interesting product with expansion possibilites which other consoles don't have. Not even modern consoles. At the time lots of wasted potential. That potential has been only recently being discovered.
In my opinion, no! You have to remember that the Amiga failed in the USA. All of the models did not do very well at all. It was a different market over here. As a Brit, I can honestly say that I love the CD32
@@TheGebs24 yep definitely, I'd happily own one, always wanted an amiga 1500 as a kid but never got one remember they were quite popular here in Britain, I had to make do with my commodore 16 plus four.
@@perihelion7445 not quite sure but was one of the originals but was sold many moons ago I was brought up in the 80,s so remember having the original zx81 and Sinclair spectrum etc
