In this Episdoe of Amiga Retro, we will perform the Manufacturer Recommended Power Fix for the MNT 9000 Zorro 2/Zorro 3 All-In-One Amiga Upgrade. This resolves an issue with Batch 1-4 cards (Revision 1 and 2) that supplies 3.3 volts to the ZYNQ module, instead of the required 1.8V. This over-volatge condition will cause the module to run hotter than it was designed for and can drastically shorten the cards' life-span.

Very useful video. I got my ZZ9000 corrected with this videos help. It is a TINY cut! I was surprised with myself being able to get it done.

Thanks for watching and I am glad the Video was of help. It is small cut indeed. As stated in my Video, it's a much safer alternative to the "Drill Method"

Did the fix on mine last weekend using the cut trace method and it went smoothly. I can't imagine too many people chose the drill method; a little too much risk for something that can be done simply with magnification and and an X-Acto knife. 😊

I wish I had av X-Acto knife on hand. The blade I used was a bit too large for the task. All in all, it went well. Takes a lot of patience and a steady hand. I have another MNT 9000 that will need this modification, I will definitely will use a smaller, precision blade that time around :)

Great job documenting this. Excellent video. Such a tiny space to cut let alone film. On mine I added a sticker on the board stating the fix had been done, and my boards MAC address. If anyone else puts a sticker on their board, don’t forget to remove the backing from the sticker away from the board and allow the static to dissipate before installing on the board.

A Sticker stating the fix has been done is great idea. I have seen them done on re-capped boards. Adds a nice touch.

Just finished doing the fix on my 3 ZZ's def running cooler also put heat sinks on them ages ago cores running @ just under 59 degrees.

Once I get heat sink of the correct size, I shall add them to mine.

Wow, that's interesting. You're using the Vampire only as an accelerator and the ZZ for the RTG/LAN/USB . Do you use the Buddha for the CD-ROM? What a great setup. Love to see more about this machine (esp 3.9 on the 3.1.4 ROM). Great setup and video man.

I use the Buddha for my Compact Flash and CD-Rom. The SD Card slot is used for additional storage, mainly System Backups and Downloads. Currently the Vampire's IDE header is not in use (poor thing).

Have you tried to use the ZZ9000 on a cathode-ray tube with an adapter hdmi to vga ?

..and don't forget the additional (experimental) extra RAM you can address - It's slow Zorro3 'fast' mem but still. This 'trick' can be found here www.gregdonner.org/zz9000/appsnarms.html
