This is part 2 of the tutorial on how to set up a Compact Flash to use with the Amiga through a 2.5" IDE adapter. In this tutorial we will build on the last one and prepare the system to install WHDLoad and some games.
These excellent tutorials will surely become very handy if I ever get an Amiga myself. Again it is. I used to have A500 back then but sold it in the mid 90's.
Love what you have done here. I shared your videos on MaximumRDs classic Amiga hub on Facebook. Perhaps this will get your channel some more well deserved attention.
Just wanted to let you know your videos have been a HUGE help in getting my Amiga 4000 setup. I am still having some issues trying to figure out all these different kinds of files and tryijng to get them to work on the 4000, but I am getting there.
man your ace its incredibly dificult to follow tho but thats the nature of the beast im sure it rewarding at the end so far i have IK+ working now for skidmarks
Thanks Dave. Very helpful, I have set up several of my Amigas using your tutorials. One thing I'm not sure of is I have a Blizzard 1230 installed in my A1200 which runs the 68030. I notice there are only lha installers for the 68k, 68020 and 68040. Which one should I use? Does it matter?
fantastic tutorial, i followed everything, only then i get several errors (i guess for the game version) for example i am creating syndicate to do a test as tutorial, but it gives checksum error to disk4, and i don't know how to fix other errors then, anyway thanks for this great tutorial
Absolutely excellent tutorial. I am going to install some games later tonight. Just a quick question if my A1200 is v3.0 do i need to install workbench 3.0 as I have put V3.1 onto the CF card?? Thanks again.
Hi! Any idea why sometimes it takes forever to load some of the ingame loading, like UFO(CD32/AGA), Colonization... the same effect is when I save in any game. It kinda switches processes, the screen flashes a little etc. It's fine usually, but the games like mentioned above it takes forever. Any way around it, you know? I have A1200/030 and CF, 4Gb (smart file system)
It has already all been setup and worked fine the first time I was using it. I pulled the CF card out of the Amiga and put it back into the PC using WinUAE to install some more software and I can't get the shell to open getting that error now.
On my 2 meg bog standard A1200 i appear to require extra so called 'external mem' or 'shadow mem' in order to get almost all of the games to load. Does this mean i have to fork out for a trap door memory expansion card or is it a problem with my cf?
Hey Dave, I have a question. I am going back into work with WinUAE after setting it up the first time using your tutorial. The only problem is now when I go to open up a shell, I get a "Unable to open your tool SYS:'System/CLI'" error. Any idea what is going on? I can see the desktop, but it won't open the shell.
Hi, I have setup the CF many moons ago in my 1200 & have A-Z folders with all my different games in. The problem I have is 80% dont work (they start to load & then bomb out). How would I go about deleting the none working games & copy over working versions. Its been so long I forgotten how I set it up in the first place.
Nearly there now but stuck now :-( At 09:47 when I select the ADF file to go along with the install the game I get asked 'Real Floppy' 'Standard disk image (adf 901120) If I select 'Real Floppy' it says insert correct disk even though the disk icon is visible on the WB screen (inserted) If I select 'Real Floppy' 'Standard disk image (adf 901120) it days you must install 'DiskImageCtrl' Not to sure what to do now...
Are you cleaver enough to make a tutorial about how to make a WHDLoad slave of a didk thats not out on slave yet? Thats something a lot of people would love to know what to do on using the dev edition of WHDLoad.
Dave. I have a question: Is there a definitive solution, however long winded for playing WHDload on a 1MB chip A600. I have everything setup but not enough memory to launch anything with WHDload... Is there any kind of something that could give me the ability to play that way.....??
Hi, after successfully running LHA.run in the shell I don't see any files in the folder stuff!!! It's definitely worked though because I can see the files on my PC. Any suggestion?
Almost there, But after successfully running LHA.run in the shell I don't see any files in the folder they're extracted to. It's definitely worked though because I can see the files on my PC.
Hi, I have uncompressed lha typing lha.run everithing it decompresses right but when I run lha o the shell I get a message saying: Cannot open "mathieedoubbass.library , version 37.3¨" Any Idea where the problem is, if setted the configuration on based on an amiga 600 because it's the system I'm going to use thanks
I have found the files, it's a math library package, wich is compressed with lha. The problem is lha commands don't work since they need to have this library installed, soooo.....
Go on Aminet, search for "diskman" a small shell utility. Put it in C: so you can reach it from anywhere you are in Shell Make sure you're in the directory that contains your .adf-file, and have an empty disk in your floppy, then type "Diskman df0: (assuming your floppy is df0:) write filename.adf Simple as that really
