It's a fact that there were a minimum of 10,000 people there, but estimates have run as high as 15,000. This was held in the big open square in Maastrich, Netherlands. Amira was ten years old here, and is now 19, and more beautiful and talented than ever both outwardly and inwardly in her heart and soul. She is unreserveredly outspoken in her strong Christian faith and values, and has been a great humanitarian to the impoverished children of South Africa, building safe and clean playgrounds for them for almost ten years with the Gelukskinders Foundation ("Lucky Children Foundation") she established at ten, the very same year you see her in this performance! Outstanding girl!
Great reaction, man! Angelina Jordan and Emma Kok are pop singers. Amira is an opera singer, a world-class super soprano, capable of singing the most demanding and beautiful arias ever composed. You can't compare her to pop singers. It's a totally different level. Keep up the good work.
She was 10 years old when she delivered that. 6 months earlier she had won the TV show, Hollands got talent. That's where Andre Rieu had spotted her. Other knockout performance's .... Ave Maria, Gomez (2015) Nella Fantasia , Live in concert, (2016) Amazing Grace. (2017) La vergine degli angeli. (2020) Gesu Bambino Amen. .... ( both from 2023). I'll watch anything of hers you care to post, she is gorgeous.
And if you want another genre there's her - Sound of Music Medley - and a beautifully introduced by her herself - When you Wish Upon a Star. I'm afraid that with Amira you're spoiled for choice of magnificent performances 😊
The angelic voice of a spiritual being. Try Nessum Dorma from Hollands got talent, 2013. Amira was 9 and killed it. Also, one of my favorites is the Flower Duet with Corlea Botha when Amira was 13.
There really are a lot of damn good female singers in the younger generation. Angelina Jodan, Lucie Thomas and Emma Kok are the best examples. But if I were to make a list of all these young superstars, Amira would be at the top.
Great reaction Duane. To help you a little to understand Amira’s incredible journey to date, ill give you a run down of a few facts as I know them. At the age of 7, and after being fascinated by some Opera Arias, she taught herself to sing by watching the likes of Pavarotti on uTube, mimicking mouth movements & breathing techniques etc. She practiced & practiced for 2 years before auditioning for Hollands Got Talent which she actually won at age 9. This is a brief overview giving just the basics. Amira, being such a sensation, was invited to perform in numerous countries & performed in some 20 plus countries & sang in at least 5 languages. She is fluent in Dutch, English & Africaan. Half of her performance monies was put towards playground equipment for disadvantaged schools in South Africa & to date has supplied some 18 schools with this equipment. Amira has a wide range of music genres including Opera, cross over, gospel, musicals and everything in between. There is so much to her story, it’s impossible to describe it all here, but it’s important to know that Amira Willighagen is a very, very special human being. I forget when, but her family moved to South Africa some years ago. In 2020 she had a Christmas concert "African Christmas with Amira & friends". One of the songs Little Drummer Boy is a must watch. She performs it with The Mzansi youth Choir.
There were 10,000 people seared on the square and another 2 to 3 thousand people seated at the tables set out next to the square by the pubs and restaurants ext to the square. Amira was just 10 years old at this performance only about 6 months after winning Hollands Got Talent when she was 9 years old! she is now 19 and there is a very large number of performance available to be viewed.
This performance will be marked as one of the greatest ever taking music and our emotions to new heights. Doesn't matter as the years go by or Amira grows up - this is Beauty Frozen in Time. A 10 year old Dutch-speaking girl singing complex Italian Effortlessly from one of the world's most emotional operatic arias. The final word is Pietà which means Mercy or Pity: and it is heart-breaking to hear such a young girl Prolong those notes with such skill, feeling and intensity - and show it in her eyes - especially as she had just sung O Dio Vorrei Morir = O God I should want to die.
