Great reaction! Amira is not a pop singer, she has been an elite soprano since the age of 8. She won Holland's Got Talent at the age of 9. As well as classical singing, she sings crossover, musicals, gospel, sound tracks and Disney songs. You'll love seeing her in the video "Amira Willighagen ~ Live in Concert ~ Amazing Grace", in which she belts out notes beyond the soprano range at the age of 13, with 30 million views.

And, Debbie, it is not just her voice which amazes me every time. Amira has a foundation since she was 10 years of age ("Gelukskinders", which means Happy children). That foundation creates save playgrounds for poor kids in the Townships in South Africa and so far 22 has been built. Amira is 20 now and she still sings. Humanity however is her first goal and she wants to perform at places which are also in reach for people who can't pay expensive exclusive concerts. That does not mean she avoids big concerts, but she wants to share her gift with everybody, not just a "happy few". I have had the privilege to be able to visit two of Amira's Christmas concerts: one in Belgium and one in the Netherlands (where I live): they were both wonderful. Amira's most recent video is called "Amen". I am sure you will like it a lot. Although Amira and Angelina are two complete different singers they have a lot in common: Amira did win Holland got Talent in 2013 at the age of 9 (and won); Angelina did win Norway got talent in 2014 at the age of 8 and won. Both girls have made performances in many countries ever since and they both do have a firm base of supporters. Amira left the Netherlands 5 years ago and lives in South Africa (the country her mother is born). Angelina left Norway 5 years ago and lives in America to reach her goal: being a world Star.. Both girls did grow-up away from the big media and talent-hunters and are now nice, happy and confident adults. One thing is really different between the two: As a kid Amira wanted to sing "just one time on tv" and she was completely surprised when things went viral and so on. Angelina, from the beginning, had just one goal in mind: win the competition and becomming a "World Star" as an adult. And the third singer I would like to mention to you is Lucy Thomas from the UK. My guess is that you will like her as well. Lucy is almost 20 now (so about same age as Amira is) and I am sure you will like her voice as well. Her rendition from Lennard Cohen's "Halleluia" (she did it when she was 16) is "from another planet".

Amira is a brilliant singer, with a heart of gold too. Second name is Villik hahgen. She is Dutch If you want to see emotional performances, her O mio babinno caro with Andre Rieu is a tear jerker. Live in concert, Nella Fantasia is another. Gesu Bambino, and Amen both from 2023 are more recent stunners. At 13 she also delivered a beautiful version of Amazing Grace. With Amira, it may be wise to start at or near the beginning., so I’d suggest you start with her performing O Mio Babbino Caro with Andre Rieu ( the renowned conductor / musician). Amira , at the ripe old age of TEN, sang to an audience of over 10,000 & received a standing ovation. This video has had in excess of 74 million views. At this concert Amira sang O Mio Babbino Caro then walked to the front of the stage to sing this. Amira will be 20 on March 27th. See a concert in South Africa when she sang Nessun Dorma followed by the Flower Duet, with Corlea Botha (CIG 2017). Soon after she moved to her new school in SA she sang in the school concert: O Mio Babbino Caro followed by Nessun Dorma (Amira school concert 2018). More recently see Gesu Bambino, sung when visiting her father (2023). He played the organ in an empty church.

amira was a great admirer of patricia janeckova, who won 'talentmania' in 2010 in her native slovakia aged 12 with this same tune!! amira was devastated last year when she heard of the death of patricia from breast cancer at the age of just 25, six weeks after getting married!! i believe there was a mutual admiration between the 2 girls as they were growing up! there will be no competition between them, so take alisten to patricia's version as well!!

Debbie, Amira is really a fantastic opera singer. You might want to react to Jackie Evancho as well,who was runner up but should have won AGT as a 10 year old. She is amazing as well. Amira is a trained classical/ opera singer. Jackie was never trained as a singer, but just has a natural ability to sing opera but also sings pop. She is 23 now and for whatever reason she never caught on with the younger generation, just like Amira and Angelina, but it sure as hell wasn't for the lack of singing ability. So glad you're 'Back In The Saddle Again'.

It also explains the fascinating story of how she got started, since she was only 9 at the time. The Andre Rieu performance is equally impressive but she had grown up...she was 10.

Amira was just 20 on March 17, having been born in 2004! At the time of singing that song she was 13. She initially taught herself to sing watching youtube! No vocal lessons.

It is inevitable that you were to hear about Amira! Her last name you got exactly right, since you needn't say it the Dutch & Afrikaans way (her 'twin' cultures) till you learn it, for her sake. Just like with Porsche we don't say the "e" as we aren't speaking in German. Her latest release on to youtube of "Amen" highlights her Protestant faith which she speaks of very often, too, and the choir singing with her sing in their South African language: "Lord God Almighty, who was & is & is to come." Her range is huge, and she is now starting music at uni at Pretoria, quite near her home town. In SA the school year is just starting now, and she spent last year touring her home country plus a foreign tour or two.

Amira has a beautiful voice, and even more importantly she is fine a and caring person. I discovered Amira because I have been following Jackie Evancho since I saw her performance on AGT in 2010,Jackie was 10 years old then, and created a HUGE rush of Got Talent shows around the world searching for young children who could sing. Holland Got Talent got lucky in 2013 and found Amira. They built the whole 2013 season around Amira. It could not have happened to a better child, Amira not only had a beautiful voice, she was/is a wonderful caring person, very much like Jackie. Jackie emailed Amira after her first performance on HGT, and Amira was thrilled Jackie reached out to her, they have remained in touch over the years. Amira oftens performs songs she sees Jackie perform.
