For the longest time I was struggling with storing my ammo. I finally found what works for me. I found some craftsman storage cabinets . #2ndamendment #ammo #StoringAmmo #AmmoStorage #ar15
Thank you. It takes up alot of space but it’s worth It to me to be better organized. And best part is, the cabinet is enclosed so It keeps out majority of the elements out. Dust is the biggest one. I might put in some LED lights and a dehumidifier… If you do get one or you make your own. Would love to see the lay out…
Like most folks I have an adequate supply of ammunition. What I did notice was the various calibers I had stored. What I’m currently doing to culling the stock so to speak. This means no longer owing a rifle or hand gun of every caliber. This has been very beneficial for several reasons. First, I now have more room to store the most useful ammunition I need. Second, I don’t have money invested in calibers I don’t need. Third, ammunition is easy to find at a glance. This works for me very well. It simplifies my life regarding guns and ammunition. Cheers!
I acquired some heavy duty metal filing cabinets for a company that was converting all their files to digital. They are designed to hold a lot of weigh and I have set them up a separate drawer for each calibers.
I tried to look for that and I couldn’t find any anywhere if I did they were asking for arm and leg. That’s awesome you got some. Just helps so much to know where everything is right.
A warning about silica packs. They will draw the moisture out of the cartridges when sealed up with them. Not good, as powder comes from the factory with 40-50% humidity in single base, and 50-60% humidity in the double base powders. When the reloading manuals give a powder charge weight it is with the moisture include in the weight. So it is with the factory ammo as well. If one dries the powder out, the rounds will be hotter than originally planned. In maximum (especially +P and +P+) loads it can become dangerous. And yes moisture can seep into a loaded round, as well as back out again depending on the humidity level out side the cartridge if given a month or so, unless one seals the round with sealant. Hence it is best to store ammo, powder, and primers in a controlled environment of say 49-58% humidity. This can be done within the sealed ammo cans by putting a Boveda 49% or 58% Two-Way Humidity Control Pack. Or one could store them in a Cigar Humidor cabinet that is both Humidity and temperature controlled.
Nice bro. I have a similar setup. My home has an interior office that I turned into a safe. Climate controlled and humidity controlled. I dont have near the amount or variation. A few years back I sold all my firearms and consolidated calibers. 22lr shotgun 5.56 7.62x39 9mm 380 300aac and 6.5 creedmore. One things i would suggest is to keep the type of ammunition the same. If you have 100000 22lr but everytime you use a different manufacturer you will need to re zero the rifle. So i keep all my ammo the same other than that I love it man. Takes alot of time and effort but feels great to see it all stacked neatly. I did go down the magazine rabbit hole a few years back as well. So alot of mine I have in magazines. Always hated going to shoot and taking one mag and having to reload outside.
I appreciate It. I try to keep the same ammo as much as I can. But I thought a lot of It back when the ammo storage hit in 2012 when It was so dang hard to find so trying to through 1000k of 22lr is a little bit hard lol Yeah all this was stuffed in my tiny safe.
Were I Blessed with all you have, I wouldn't broadcast and show " The World" all that you have and vocally show all the weapons you must have. It's great to ask friends, fans, and your subscribers how they're set up, but it sure is hard to convey the questions you have without stating the obvious. I wish you much luck in all your endeavors,
I love your setup! I saw a guy use steel cabinets with mesh front doors. I liked the ability to organize supplies, but didn’t want people to see what's inside when locked. I will be starting to search for something similar.
I appreciate that. You can get these style cabinets on amazing for 200 bucks or Lowe’s for 400 dollars. I just like the ability to lock the cabinets if I need It. I just like knowing where my ammo is and I can quickly grab what I’m looking for. Not dig around. I’m glad this helped you…
I’ve been looking for some ideas myself and I like the use of the safes. I’m thinking about using some plastic roll bags and a vacuum seal to store my ammo in. I’m geared towards prepping a touch so I like to have things extremely organized and ready for anything. You have a ton of .223 5.56 though!! I love the whole setup man!
I appreciate It so much. I had all that in a safe lol just made things difficult to find and put in order you know. I just wish I didn’t spend so much on these craftsman. They aren’t what they use to be
I use those battery power light switches on each shelf in my safe. They have velcro or double side tape, so just reach in and flip the switch like a normal house light. Would work nice for your ammo storage. Love the setup and organization! Might need to look into that myself.!
Surprising to me those 5.56. Xtac shoot some of the best groups I’ve had. I thought of it more as budget friendly but I believe it to be of good quality and consistency
I love them. But the only issue is they are green tips so I can’t shoot them at steel and I can’t shoot them at an indoor range. Only paper targets or my own steel targets I want to destory lol
Great Idea. May want to plastic wrap them. I'm Near Wickenburg no AC just swamp cooler. The 60-70 percent humidity that the swamp cooler puts out destroys the ammo in one summer if it is not wrapped up. Then I put ammo in sealed ammo cans. Hopefully the monsoon season will be nice this winter but I seriously doubt it.
Nice. Neat, organized, locked up. I had several boxes of 9 millie ammo. i'm lucky to have 400 rounds of that, 100 rounds (4 25 count boxes) 12 ga. Money is SUPER TIGHT. 1 box of 380. I store it in an ammo box, put plumbers grease on the seal, it protects the rubber seal & i put a 40 gram dessicant pak in it. Make sure the room temp. doesn't fluctuate to much cause it harms it. the little amount People with firearms I know here in CT have very little ammo. I can't understand that (SMH). Anyways, if I may suggest something regarding mags, I'll keep 2, 10 round mags. with only 8 rounds in it & the one in the AR with 9 helps the spring. Reason being, it's been proven that over time 3-5 years, the springs WILL lose a bit of tension. Keep the other mags with NO ammo in it. Also, have at least 10 Mags for each weapon. Which I'm sure you know. Thanks Bro. God bless. I HAVE ALOT OF CATCHING UP TO DO. I have a cabinet with 1 box. LOL
Sometimes I just forget to take out the extra ammo I put in the mags. lol so I leave them in there for the next week or following week when I go back to the range. I have a few mags with less than 10’rounds in each mag so I don’t ruin the mag and helps the spring out. Yeah I don’t get why some people don’t get as much ammo as possible. It’s super expensive I know
I’m addicted to those desiccant packets. I have yet to buy any but salvage anyone’s I come across and throw them in the different ammo cans. Even family sets them aside for me hah😅
Nice. Yeah the second cabinet we had no issues putting It together the first one because how cheap craftsman is we had issues lol. Some of the screws don’t fit proper lol
This took me a few years to gather and collect. Just takes time but when I did buy my stock It was during decent time for prices. We had Walmart and other realtors. Even online was amazing. Times have changed
Question from new shooter. I heard in this video I think you’re from the Phoenix area I live in Queen Creek. Any recommendations on places or people I can go to for some training on the guns I own or just help in general. thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.
Yeah first thing I would recommend is looking at gun clubs in your area. Queen creek is far from where I go. I normally go to cowtown or Ben Avery just to shoot down range. Scottsdale gun club has a lot of good classes but I think that’s way too far for you. Also look at instagram people a lot of people here train. I know east valley tactical might be close to you but I don’t know if they do any training. Might be a good idea to hit them up and see if they can get you with a group of people near you
I like your setup, but your lockers are not air or water proof. So your ammo and the boxes they are in are exposed to moisture. Luckily your in AZ so it’s not a ton of moisture, but humidity and moisture kills ammo. As much as I would like to have a set up like that. I keep my ammo dry and sealed in military metal cans, it’s the only way to ensure they last as long as they should.
Thank you. Yeah. They both lock, both keys don’t work in the cabinet It came with. Very true about keeping people honest. It’s not meant to be a safe or anything like that. Just way for me to organize everything and easier for me to grab what I need.
Moisture is not a concern for me because I live in phoenix it’s always dry here. But I do try to cycle through It as much as I can. But not lately because ammo so expensive now
@@PhillipTheAssyrian I won’t abandon neither and I wish I had that much ammo but if your in your neighborhood and enemy forces so to say are going block to block door to door and you need to get yourself and family or team to a different location maybe to set up a defense post how would you take all of that ammo with you
@erazco6568 of course not. Im taking as much as I can and whatever is left is left. Not much I can do about that. My goal is to take atleast 2000 rounds of 9mm, 556 and .22.
Unfortunately you are missing something. Large scale ammo storage "cabinets" are supposed to be VENTED - so that if the ammo cooks off during a fire the gases may be expelled. Otherwise, your ammo safe could become an ammo bomb. Anonymously, check with your local zoning office, or fire department. Or, gun shop(s), as they are inspected for compliance and can advise you.
