If I was a store manager and people wanted to make youtube videos about all the cool stuff you could buy there, I'd be happy to have them do it! It's a freakin' free commercial for the store!
Right? I need to go get some paracord anyway, now I have a whole other list of stuff to grab. Those mechanic's picks, in particular. Those are a steal!
I used to think I needed to practice unlocking my bedside gun safe until 1 day I had a blinding flash of the obvious. Just open it when you climb in bed and close it in the morning. By the time they set off all the noise makers and get upstairs, I've already got a bead on them! Problem solved!
You've got to be careful with the HF "brass" brushes (as well.as other Chinesium "brass" brushes.) Sometimes they are brass-colored steel bristles. If you are counting on soft brass so, for example, you can attack rust spots without taking off the bluing and it's steel instead you might be doing some damage. Check those bristles with a magnet and if that "brass" sticks to the magnet it's really steel. A lot of "brass" fittings are really steel with brass coating. Many hinges, knobs, screws, and even those grommet kits can be steel imposters that will rust and stain your projects. Chinesium sneaky bastids.
HF should seriously get into tools specifically for firearms. They could probably deliver some cost-effective items and be real competitive to companies like Real Avid or Wheeler, etc.
@@actionjksnthey have a Quinn model but if you don’t want to go with that one I went with a neiko model I ordered that does well. Whichever one you go with make sure they have the certification tag inside showing how accurate it is. Think my specific one was within the range of 1-3 in lbs.
Speaking as a gunsmith, the best thing I've found is the transfer punch set. Besides their intended use, they make great mandrels or pin stock, they're fairly soft and can be ground or turned to suit. This set is cheap, you can't buy the materials for the price. I always have at least 2 sets on hand.
Are you certified? Done any online classes or anything like that, or just learned hands on? I'm super interested in becoming a gunsmith and online classes (Sonoran desert institute) look cool but it's nothing but mixed results lmao. Not about to pay for a degree that won't do a damn thing for me if I can help it🤣
Best comment 😂 Although I'm surprised any employees were at that Harborfreight... I swear every employee is addicted to p0rn and hiding in the back, or they have a very successful organ harvesting scheme... I swear you could roll out half the store using carts, dollies, and moving equipment sold at the store before anyone may notice 😂 Although that sucks and I'm pretty sure theft (along with inflation) was a large part of the price increases and fewer unrestricted 20% off coupons 🙄 What kind of methhead is stealing items with the absolute lowest resale value?! (I guess the ones that get it away with it multiple times from the same store and location without getting caught 🤦♂️) I've been to maybe ten Harborfreights and only 2 actually have had great management and employees that keep everything stocked on the shelves while maintaining correct inventory to match their website... Most seem to have the absolute worst management I've ever witnessed. Also shout out to "Rural King" it's like a Harborfreight/Tractorsupply/auto parts store on steroids that also sells name brand tools in addition to HF priced products, plus free popcorn, coffee, AND guns, ammo, and some accessories... Snagged a 2 rifle AR height 42" heavy duty nylon padded soft case with 2 molle mag pouches, a permanent padded zipper compartment and a safariland 7TS holster for less than $100 😂 Sadly they are pretty rare to find, all on the east cost side, (west coast and middle flat county have their own equivalents with various names) basically a cluster up the map from central Florida to Ohio with a few random outliers... I wish my town had one, but we do have some cool family owned hardware stores that have a similar "we sell everything men want besides women" inventory 😂 One has a complete knitting/sewing/upholstery section next to the home furnishings if you already have the woman and need to distract her while you look at everything else 😉
Good stuff. For shits and grins I picked up a couple of their 50 cal metal ammo cans a few years back. Did the whole test for leaking by submerging them in a bath tub, beating the crap out of them etc. They hold up really well and stay dry.
... dude, a few years ago my wife got for me the ten gun safe you shown, she got the manager to get one for her. He came back saying that model on the floor was the only one they had, so he sold it to get half off - yeah one ninety nine! I love it, it has not only the electronic key pad to open it but also an emergency key to use if the battery dies ...
I grabbed one of those big apache 9800 cases on black friday for $100 and a few of the metal ammo cans for $10, definitely some pretty solid stuff for the price.
The only problem with Apache cases is that pick apart foam. It comes apart into 1/2" cubes after a couple of months. Other than that they are strong and the weather seal works well.
I literally just found out they opened up a Harbor Freight in my city less than a mile down the road from my job... I knew I was missing out but I didn't know I was missing out THIS much! Thanks for the video, doing the Lord's work out here. EZ subscribe! 🙏
I bought those super cheap earmuffs. They were very ineffective until I modded them. I took them apart and put some really good high density foam inside and used some liquid rubber. I already had the stuff laying around so it didn't cost me anything and they work really well now. The knockoff pelican cases are very solid. I have a small one and a larger one. I've got coupons for the cheap little ammo boxes and got them for like $3 each. You can use one coupon for a bunch of the ammo boxes. Make sure that the rubber o-ring is in place correctly and it helps to glue it in place so it stays put. Every time you get something that has those silica packs in it throw them into the ammo boxes.
Great advice. We think alike. I went there a few years ago for cheap do-dads and came across the ammo cans. I walked out with alot of inexpensive shit that is still being used today. If you're starting out working on your own guns or machines, mistakes happen and stuff breaks. No loss with the cheaper tools.
The plastic ammo cans and the "dri box" with the removable tray are great. The dri box is great for cleaning kit components. Also I have one of the HF wooden machinist tool boxes which is great for keeping gunsmithing tools like punch sets, pics hex bits and things like magnetic levels or torque drivers, trigger pull gauges and so forth in.
I've been a deputy/ officer for 31 years! I don't work the street any more but i still carry a lot of the stuff you named in my unit ! I have the Hardy gloves( mechanic, leather work, welding) , the cloth tool bags, the flashlights( I have rechargeable but like to have a couple for battery back up), ammo cans, 4 pound sledge, bolt cutters and pry bar! I enjoyed your our video it was very informative!
I use the clam shell gun safe for my CCW in my car and for flying. I purchased and used the punch set to do work on my M1A. Pics are good for the price. The plastic ammo cans are good for the price but can have a poor seal if stacked or pushed together.
There plastic ones also have weak handles. I found I cannot fill them with rolled coins, loose pistol rounds or lead ingots, because the handles break. The Flambeau ones are much better made.
Harbor Freight batteries actually came out 2nd in a test where a load was put on different brands of 2032s. Just behind duracell. I buy harbor freight batteries exclusively.
Outstanding! I literally have purchased 80% of the items you just presented in this video and will likely get a few more of them in the future. Great endorsement, even if the store "clerk" doesn't understand free marketing. Well done, man!
Ive had 4 for several years. $39 if i remember correctly and 15 for the 2 small ones. I keep a digital camera in one on patrol and my garmen in the other
You walked right past the auto mechanics long reach clamps! Those things are great! Even when you're not doing gun related stuff. I have pulled obstructions out of drains, garbage disposals, a kids tooth once, endless uses!
The yellow ones make color less apparent, but accentuate any movement in your field of vision. that color also increases you time of vision in predawn or post sunset times. I know truck drivers who use them at low light times of day to make movement and objects more visible.
I use that bag as a range bag as well. Cleaning kits, ammo, hearing/ear protection and whatever pistols I’m taking all go in. Makes a world of a difference grabbing a bag that’s pre-kitted than trying to remember everything then get to the range and realize you’ve forgotten ammo. This system is undefeated. Get back from range day and replace anything that needs it and throw the bag in the corner until next time.
The ending with the HF manager was freaking hilarious! I watched this at least three times because of the one liners if you wanna goh fuul rehtard for foir nyoty nyonine! Instant sub broski!
Honestly one person can’t do this video. He just gave us like a starter kit but it’s way more he didn’t even get a chance to get into so do your video as a part 2 to his so to speak. Just pick up where he left off
Great video! I wasn't aware that Harbor Freight sold firearm accessories. Funny part is, early in the video I was wondering if you cleared recording in the store with management- but uh oh. lol
It's a business that has their own cameras recording you and they are open to the public so there is no expectation of privacy. Funny that he had been walking around the store for how long and nobody said anything to him but when he gets to the front of the store they give him hassle.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Over the years I've bought almost all of this stuff. I still have a lot of it. I built an AR pistol kit using an Apache case. Lower with 7.5 inch 5.56, 300 Blk and 7.62x39 uppers, all in a handy case. They used to have a hydraulic press that was useful for bending AK flat receiver plates. All the tools for milling 80% AR receivers, I got there. It wasn't as well built as the expensive tools, but it worked, and was cheap enough to replace when needed.
I’d recommend anyone new to building to buy from hf. There’s nothing worse than getting all the top of the line stuff when getting into a hobby then finding out you actually don’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would and being stuck with a pile of expensive memorabilia. And the best part is it’s a lot of the cheaper stuff that still work if you decide to continue so you’ll only have to upgrade a few things
They have all the tools you need to build/mill an ar lower or p80 Glock. Tools to stipple your pistol grips, punch sets, mallets, vices, all kinds of fun shit. Drones for moving target practice.
Yep he didn’t get a chance to dive deeper into the electronic stuff like dremels, engravers, heat guns, soldering irons etc. but it’s a lot more there for sure
Grew up on Long Island. This is normal New York conversational talk. Don't know why some people get upset over this. Don't live in New York anymore but the wife and I still speak the native language.
The pick set is really god and universally handy. I always leave with a parts tray and pick set. I'm thinking about getting the smaller of the two shot polishers they sell. Still waiting for a store in San Mateo County so I don't have to cross a bridge to visit a store.
@@bigdickballistics Picked up the ammo can and a pair of glasses too lol. The glasses weren't big enough to fit over my regular glasses, but the set of ears worked great! I have some range footage on my latest shorts of some 3D printed guns I finally go to fire when I went to the range.
@@bigdickballistics I used to, I'll look it up when I get home. I have it written down there. The big difference is that they paint the cans at harbor freight versus bake on the finish for the military.
I'm a cheap bastard. I've used a 15 year old HF muffs with some 3m plugs from home depot. The muffs are pretty low pro. Worked fine for 556 and 308. I dont see them at HF anymore.
Big D, I like your video. I have purchased several of the items you featured. That magnetic parts dish, for example is just one of those things that once you have one or more, you’ll ask yourself why you never got one sooner. I have bought some of the cooler looking ($3.99) safety glasses. I should check the ratings. Never paid attention to the ear pro, but…. I recently started teaching CCHL classes and will say that Harbor Freight Gun storage products are going to appeal to a lot more people who live pay check to pay check but still want to be part of the 2A community not to mention have the ability to defend themselves and family from the garbage the world is currently dragging in. Not to mention my own bottom line. So I appreciate your video and certainly hope that the revenues at the store where you were filming increase and the manager who kicked you out (and area manager) is aware that Big D sent ‘em.
@donaldoehl7690 in my experience the magnetism that happens to the small parts and tools isn’t an issue unless you’re dealing with something electronic.
When you trust your hearing protection to harbor freight you deserve what you get. I said WHEN YOU TRUST YOUR HEARING PROTECTION TO HARBOR FREIGHT YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU GET!
I have and use an Apache pistol case. Very nice sturdy case. Last fall flew to Florida from Minnesota, checked in my pistol in the Apache case. Got to hotel in FL, tried to open the case, couldn't do it. Closed.the case in MN (1200 ft elev.), tried opening on FL at sea level, the pressure squeezed it shut and the air release valve does not work on the case. The case is for sure air tight and waterproof. Had to stick a knife in between the rubber seal to get some air in there,.then it opened up.
It's not just the gun world that's expensive, it's everything now. Food, fuel, auto parts, tools, outdoor power equipment, bills, utilities, electronics, insurance, real estate, you name it!
I might have missed it but I didn't see a reference to the Bauer 4 Pocket Drill holster. It is admittedly big but that can solved by installing rivets or snaps to hold the holster closer to the firearm. It would make a good Pickup holster, or - and this is the best use - to hold a HDP50 .50 caliber pepper launcher 'pistol,' which is a beast. The secondary pockets can hold the CO2 cartridges and spare rubber/powder/pepper balls. And - get this - it costs $9.99!
Good ideal I go there myself. I'm getting the US General 15in End Cabinet Series 3 & The US General 22in End Locker Series 3. its just like a gun locker.
Well, that manager is not a good manager , boss man, better think twice on who they hire lots of money there lost by kicking you out . because you just reached out and advertised for harbor freight to thousands of humans which brings revenue to Harbor freight., thanks buddy , 🤙
HF is where I get walnut medium for tumbling my brass. Way cheaper than ordering it online and no shipping fees or wrather damage from sitting on my front porch 😅
Just had a HF open about 4 miles away...and conveniently located near Tractor Supply (another great place to find good stuff at good prices).....Ill be going to the HF Soon ! thanks !
Retired/disabled LEO and are people aware that Harbor Freight has a policy to not allow ANY persons with firearms in their store to shop? Today I went to pick up some things that I called a head for and were waiting for me at the register (thanks Dana) and I usually get a shopping cart and then place my bag which has a firearm and identification and glasses and things in it in the cart. I go in the store and shop, pay and leave. The store had all the shopping carts outside locked up so I went in and asked if i can take a shopping cart from the store to put my bag in it? A women came over and asked what I wanted to do and why etc? I told her and that I am a regular customer. She said hold on then went away coming back shortly saying "no, the manager Dennis said no you can not use a shopping cart and can not bring your bag in the store". I asked for Dennis to come speak with me. He said he was a "US Marine" and has guns also. I said okay what is the problem here? He said he did not know what the store policy is (btw there are no signs indicating the policy, I took photos) but that because "he knows that I have a firearm in my bag that I can not use a cart or bring my bag in. I said that I also have a side arm currently while talking with him and then he looks at me and said "well I can't tell so you could come in but no bag or cart".! I pointed out that there are no signs with such a policy on the door and many people are just walking into the store with bags and even a guy walks his scooter in the door. Dennis said let me go make a call and I will come back and see you. I said okay and in the meantime I will call the Police because I would like to file a complaint and have a record. The police never came after 2 hours and Dennis never came back to talk with me. I think I understand why Harbor Freight does not reveal their policy. Mostly men shop there and the men are usually just regular guys who like tools, cars, guns and such. Posting an anti 2A policy on the door is not going to help them with their sales. It seems like their policy is if they don't know about it and don't tell customers that is good enough. I would bet though if anything ever happened in the store they would be doing quite a dance claiming they have a policy of no firearms. As for Dennis the "US Marine". Sad sell out and no honor claiming he would return to talk. In summary I am not saying people should not shop at Harbor Freight but when I can avoid it I will. China has enough of my money anyway.
I need to keep an eye out for those ear sets. I have some of the big cheap bulky ones. I got a lifetime supply of foamies from HF. I buy a pair of the gloves every other visit, because you can't have too many gloves. Same for the safety glasses.
My dad sent me this video we’ve just recently joined our local range…love harbor freight and love the vid! “What your mom sees when she makes me a sandwich” got the immediate sub 😂
