I am a malayalee.. i am a huge fan of Telugu film industry....because when it comes to devotional movies and graphical thrillers...Tollywood is no 1 in India...i have watched this movie Ammoru many times during my childhood in Andhra...also i would suggest do reaction to movies like Devi, Deviputrudu, Anji, Sree Anjaneyam, Aditya 369...these movies are best to see in theatres...only Anji movie i was able to watch in theatre....theatre experience is superb...

Do observe that the Mother Goddess never blinks in the entire movie. Blinking is such a natural thing for living beings, but "not blinking" just felt so natural on Mother Goddess. The director and Ramya Krishna did a really good job in bringing to us this Ammoru.
Trust me...This movie VFX were truly outstanding...No other film industry in India made this type of film with grandeur VFX in 1990's time. The story, Bgm, screenplay, VFX, music everything was awesome.

I too have strong views towards how Hindi has become the linguistic facade of India cos Hindi was,is and will never be a feature to represent Indians! We are the land of many languages! Our southern peninsula was actually part of Australian continent, before it was moved my plate tectonics to hit the Asiatic southern part which led to the creation of Himalayan strip of geological creation. The sheer forces are so tremendous that Himalayas are second most volatile region for earthquakes. Telugu is an offshoot of ‘Munda’ language and ‘Dravidian’ language. It is almost as old as Tamizh but younger. The southern languages have been corrupted by Sanskrit and Pali cos of the influence and immigration of Brahmins from north. That’s the primary reason but also there are several reasons including dialectal convenience, migration, necessity etc. pure Telugu cannot be easily understood cos we have been brought up in the Dravidian-pali -Sanskrit style of speaking and creating sentences. Remember one thing! Never hate a language just cos of reasons you yourself don’t really understand. It’s better to enlighten others rather than controlling their language usage. I am a proud Dravidian, Andhra man!

And that woman is so innocent and not selfish like us, that's why she sacrificed herself to protect the village. That look of Dark blue of Mother Goddess is "Ma Kali"(killer of demons) that's why it's so fierce looking. We must specifically talk about "Ramya krishna", not only for her acting but also for accepting that character at first place. Because at that time, she was a highly successful heroine and glamour queen in TFI and doing Goddess character might ruin her reputation, still she did that character. Hatsoff Ramya krishna.

I am a Kannadiga and only have very little understanding of Telugu. Saw this movie, in Telugu, 25 years back. Bought the video cassette over one weekend after renting VCP after a few people recommended it. Was highly impressed with this movie then. This video brought back those old memories. What you understood from this scene is completely different from the real meaning. I understand you r thinking was from this modern age rational thinking. But let me explain you... Amoru is one of the many recarnations of goddess Durga or Shakti. She is addressed as mother(Amma) as you can see in the scene that lady was addressing her as amma. Now the essence of the scene was sacrifice the greed ofr oneself for people. You can't get rewards if your efforts are not genuine for betterment of all and not just yourself. That's why Ammoru tested the ladies as she begged for food. She saw will they help someone in real need at that time than the farfetched result they were asking the goddess. Only doing prayes and offering mean nothing to God unless you have that compassion in real for others. When the other lady gave Ammoru the rice saying you please take mine and also confined to goddess to forgive her and punish her instead of whole village for giving her offering to old lady and save the village from diseases. It was this woman genuine intentions and honesty in prayer that Ammoru visited her house.. The village lady is naive and innocent person usually villagers are. There was no greed in her heart. So when Ammoru asked her to go out and spill the water and not to look back was to save her from her from sacrificing nature. Goddess knew this lady will give life to save the village cos she cared of an unknown old lady and gave her food. That's a mother's nature. So Ammoru is aware of her child (lady) nature. Everyone is a child to goddess. Now when village lady remembered the old lady might be hungry she went back to tell her to eat something from the food she storeed. But she saw and realised Old lady was Ammoru. Now everyone know a promise made by God to someone is irreversible. And if goddess leaves in the morning may be diseases can come back to Village and the protection would be gone. So she could only think that if she sacrificed herself and never returned Ammoru will stay in village for ever and village is always guarded from diseases and any evil happenings. Ammoru was not angry she was upset that she lost her child and she lived their forever to protect the village. Ammoru chose that village lady's home to stay and it was made into temple because this village women gave her life for people betterment over her own or just her curiosity or happiness. Her pure heart was the house of the Goddess from the beginning. So the jist is God resides only in those who have pure heart and honesty. Who think are above their own greed and pleasures. Who think for everyone's betterment over just themselves. God only listen to their prayers. This scene Ammoru says to this lady in the beginning that I will have stay here to cure this village as you have given me this rice. I have to fulfill your prayers unlike other villagers who were also praying the same but didn't care in reality when a starving lady asked for food. Humanity is real path to God.

No, it's not like that. Here in south India we have polimeru devatas(exclusive diety to that village), who are another form of Maa Kali but are established by humans believing that she will do great things to the village. Kaali ma was not stopped there but her form, they established. So, it's not greed to have a polimeru devata 😅
