Paul, you just demonstrated how to turn a good build into a great build . All it takes is ingenuity, patience, and 500 cotton buds. 😉. I didn’t know what this would look like exactly when you finished but I was quite certain it would be magnificent which of course it is. Well done. 👍👍👍
I don't think you're too far off the cotton bud count, Mark... 🤣. Quite surprised, though, that I didn't clock the fact that this particular aircraft had been returned to its unarmed specification at the time of 'Operation Holzauge'. I made the mistake on the original build a decade ago and didn't check again when I started this refurbishment 😕😠. Still, I'm very happy with it... I'll pay more attention next time 🤔😁.
Mr Dornier certainly designed some beautiful flying boats and you have captured the essence of the original's elegance with a fine build. An allegedly "unbuildable" kit beaten into submission. Enjoy your break, you've earned it.
Hi, thanks John. Yes, I think this is easily a case of 'saving the best 'til last' from Dornier. I will indeed enjoy a short break, but I'll be back before mid-October... that'll be the 'proper' break. I've still got some things to get together for the next two intended builds, so they would be likely to overrun mid-October. If I can avoid it, I don't like starting something and setting it aside half way through... I tend to lose some motivation when I get back to the it. Otherwise, all good... ;-).
@@runesvensson1244 Hi, Rune... indeed, I would agree, but with a lot of care and attention, this kit can be made to look good. I do like a challenge... 🤣.
Will you be performing major surgery as your next occupation Paul? Well done with this kit sir as you most definitely made this one fly and once again thank you!
Ah, Richard... my next occupation has already arrived, I'd say... 🤣. I do enjoy reworking old kits into something more presentable, and there's likely to be more of this in future, given I've got a lot of kits I'd like to improve. So, stay tuned. Thanks for looking in... ;-).
Wow, that`s an unusual ac, never heard of it! Master class build of something that really shouldn`t be on the market. I still wonder why the German`s in particular, made sooo many different a/c.
Thanks for great assembly video. Crude kit but Mach 2 probably worse. Only kits out there and expensive as well. Still worth building to me though as I have heard it said that the Do 26 was the best flying boat of WW2. Carry on. Rick from Florida.
Hi, Rick... thanks for looking in. I wouldn't be surprised if the Do26 was up there as the best flying boat. It was certainly a beautiful design and very advanced for its time, with retractable floats and rear engines that could be tilted up ten degrees to ensure the spray generated from taxiing didn't hit the rear propellors.
