Not surprised by his production. As a Lions fan in SoCal, I watched Amon-Ra play at Mater Dei and USC. He went to work the same exact way back then as he does now in Detroit. He's just a laser focused, gritty, no-nonsense, take-care-of-business, hard-working player who wants to get better. So happy my Lions drafted him. True Stud on the field.

We are so lucky to have been able to get him! He is literally the fire in our dynamic offense! Super talented and tough as hell and a great guy in the locker room. He checks all the boxes and breaks the stereotype that recievers need to be 6'5 and 200+

He reminds me of Hines Ward. Not the biggest or fastest but always seems to get open and makes the catch especially on those critical 3rd downs.
@joshlewis575
@joshlewis575 3 месяца назад
The most unique thing about him is his ability to set down between 2 guys and snag the ball and fall before he gets crunched. It's uncanny how often it happens, there's a few clips you showed in here. Dude is a beast!! Him and Penei and their work ethics are what turned this around.
@daytwaqua

My favorites are when he makes the catch 2 or 3 yards short of the sticks on 3rd down, cuz I know he's gonna get the yards he needs for the 1st down nearly every time.

Hines was a comp. I was thinking of after yr. 1. Just a hell of a football player who works his ass off every day to get better. Confident not cocky. Proud of route running, blocking just wants to win. Humble, team guy. Love me some amon-ra!!!!!

I went to watch Lions training camp St Brown’s rookie year. The 1st route I seen him run I told my brother n law who went with me that St Brown is gonna catch 80-100 receptions this season. He had the CB turned around and tripping over his own feet on a simple 5 yard out from the slot. St Brown went on to catch 90 receptions as a rookie.

Everything you said about this man is real & true. Moreover, his personal integrity is the beacon for the culture of this team. He is an elite player with a great future for us all to enjoy. And, apparently, on the personal side and coming from his podcasts and off-field actions, he can be really silly & funny & empathetic & approachable. I bet he's a wonderfully loyal friend to those of his inner circle. I'd like to thank his mother and father; Amon Ra not only is a gift to Lions fans, but a credit to our society as a whole. Hail the Sun God. One Pride!

Thanks for this. Amon-ra is incredibly unique among all WRs. His blocking is just astounding for a guy his size and that plays WR. It is an incredibly important part of his identity as a team player. His ability to get the extra yards to get first downs is something a lot of people take for granted. He is ideal for the Lions and Dan Campbell and the culture they want to establish. I still can’t believe we got him in the fourth round.

It's easy to underrate St. Brown because he doesn't go deep and he doesn't make amazing catches. He is simply in the right position to make the catch, every time. I don't know how he does it, but he is always open and always on time for Goff even when faster, bigger guys are trying to disrupt him.

He is the Lisan Al- Gaib of our WRs. He shows the way you do it as a 4th round draft choice or a 1st or a UDFA. ARSB, Goff & Sewell all embody the physical and mental toughness that is the "Grit" that MCDC & Holmes preach about. Our WR blocks like a demon, and our RT catches critical 1st down passes. That says it all about the Lions!! #313GRIT #OnePride🦁 Great job on the breakdowns & editing!! 💯🎬🎙❤️👍🏾👍🏾

This signing, a little under the radar because he was only the highest paid for such a short time, didn't get the notice it deserved. It was Genius.!! Not quite true, those stats matter, but they only tell some of the story. But those stats absolutely do matter, draft a receiver who runs a 4.7 40 and you’ll see someone who never develops.

Best part of his game that he has developed is avoiding that big hit. By that I mean, he will lower the shoulder for a first down. But he likely won't lower it for a extra yard or two on a 12yd catch. He's smart to keep himself healthy and has tremendous situational awareness. Valuable offensive weapon for this team.

I'm glad you showed the catch shortly after the 18:00 minute mark, as those are the types of plays by St Brown that stick in my head. If he catches a ball 2 or 3 yards short of the sticks on 3rd down, he's gonna get that first down, whether he has to drag a defender or two along with him to do it. As a Lions fan, I absolutely love St Brown, though I wouldn't be able to articulate nearly as well as this video does, so I greatly appreciate it. The best I can do is saying "Dude just knows how to get it done, and is willing to do whatever it takes". So, beyond noting his refusal to be stopped short on 3rd down, I couldn't give a whole lot of specifics. Thanks again for a great video, as usual.

Funny you put this out tonight after a fun afternoon on Twitter while waiting for an oil change. And thank you very much. The original Tweet I responded to from a sports network was, "Which duo would you rather have: Justin Jefferson and TJ Hockenson or Amon Ra St Brown and Sam LaPorta?" My answer is an easy ARSB and Sam due to the versatility, performance, and character of both players, but of course I had MIN fans calling me an idiot all afternoon because "ARSB isn't even a Top 10 receiver, and he does all his work in the slot." I swear, you sounded like you were part of the argument the way you showed his stats put him in Top 5 WR category at minimum, his selfless blocking that helps his teammates, and his positional versatility to even operate out of the backfield successfully. Originally my argument was JJ vs ARSB was debatable, but Sam over Hock all day due to his better blocking and Yards After Catch ability. But when MIN fans started coming after ARSB and calling him a Bottom 10 WR...them's fightin' words. And that's my DAWG.💪🦁💙

Another EXCELLENT video Coach about an historically Elite Athlete in Honolulu Blue and silver. Despite his lack of speed it is fair comment to compare St. Brown to Jerry Rice; having also that special connection Rice had with QBs Joe Montana and Steve Young -- the Goff to St. Brown connection is HISTORICALLY special in NFL terms. Name an era: Bradshaw to Swan; Trakenton to Rashad; Staubach to Tate and the list goes on. And as to the stated Coach, St. Brown is potentially this generation's future HOF talent and comparisons with Rice are REALISTIC without hyperbolic exaggeration. As both a back out of the backfield as well as a receiver St. Brown easily stacks up with Roger Craig from those same Jerry Rice SF days. IF the Lions asked it of St. Brown he could EASILY be a 1000 yard back and 1000 yard receiver ATHLETICALLY SPEAKING; also given Amon Ra's NFL IQ and outright tenacity! Yet his role in AC Ben Johnson's offense is much more clearly defined with many unique twists, correct? The RB room does not need St. Brown yet welcomes him for special plays nonetheless! As a blocker St. Brown is in "the best possible sense" -- Freakishly Unique! Has there ever been an NFL receiver like him? No NOT ONCE. #CantonizeStBrown #OnePride #OurManMontgomery #GoLions #DanTheManCampbell
