Amouage Dia Man (2002) "Tasteful Subtlety"  

So classy and professional, another wonderful fragrance by BD, the master. I love Amouage, it's the brand that started my love for this industry and stopped me from buying Dior Sauvage for the third time 🤣 Jokes aside, I always had the Parfum version, better than the EDT and the EDP. Now, I'm about to wear Kouros in the heat, ain't nobody stopping me! Cheers, Ram!

Dia man, has always been up there with my top three favorite Amouages. And I love that it sits closer to the skin. I think it lays on the skin just how it's supposed to. This to me is such a warm, cozy fragrance that I wouldn't want it projecting and ruining the intimacy of it.

Great review! I have the original bottle that I purchased back in 2009, but always assumed that Dia was short for Diamond, as they had released Gold and Silver earlier than this. I get a stone-cold diamond feeling initially, and then a subtle shinning quality in the dry down like a ray of light flashes on a diamond.

This fragrance is so classy and subtle. It doesn't need to shout and let everyone know its presence. If sprayed twice under the collar of the shirt and 3 around the neck area, it leaves behind this magical aura after leaving a certain place. It works like magic. One might think it's gone, but it gets richer and more dense as it reaches the mid dry down. Mr Ramsey as always very detailed review of this magical fragrance. Masterful job brother. You have been reviewing some of my favorite frags recently. I only have 3 Amouage, Día, Memoir and the Blue beast. Día is a really classy floral, quite different from most Amouages.

Just ordered a bottle of this, my 4th full bottle of Amouage after Bracken, Black Iris, and Journey. Truly the best fragrance house. You're absolutely right, this one grew on me after initially not capturing my attention. But I continued to wear my sample occasionally, and it quickly became one of my absolute favorite fragrances. It's so classy and just gorgeous, and is a fragrance I'd wear anywhere, anytime, which I greatly value in a fragrance. I've been looking for a replacement signature/office fragrance after finishing half of my bottle of Creed Viking and noticed how the prices have shot up even on discounters. I think I may have found it in Dia Man. And I think you described it perfectly as an aura. I seem to be drawn to fragrances that feel like an aura, like my first fragrance love D&G The One and one of my latest favorites, Thameen Carved Oud. It's exactly the kind of performance and character I'm looking for.

Awesome review! I discovered Dia just this year and grabbed a bottle. I left it some months to macerate and now it lasts more than 6 hours with medium projection on the first couple of hours. Awesome fragrance ! Not in Chong's Era. More close to Gold Man constructions-wise

I LOVE Dia Man. I wore it as my SOTD a couple days ago. Very sophisticated, well blended, smooth yet the right amount of spiceyness. I have a current formulation in the new packaging. You're review is spot-on. I will say, though, that I don't find it "soft". It may not have the greatest sillage. On my scent devouring skin and to my non-sensitive nose, it lasts nearly all day.

I'm always on the fence with this one but will probably get a bottle some day. The problem i have is i just barely smell it when i wear it.

Dia was my second favorite perfume from Amouage after Silver Cristal and I wonder, with your obvious experience, if you had to choose a perfume from any brand, with similar mood and Omani frankincense rich perfume to Silver Cristal, what would you choose?

Great imagery as always Ramster. Some of the most elegant scents are definitely not screamers. It's the silent and sexy types that are often secretly admired and desired. Kinda like Jurs Truli. Great guy. 🤣

Do you get some metallic note from it? Years ago when I first got a sample I don't recall anything metallic about it, it was just creamy. But the version that I have now has something metallic about it.

Dia is very temperature sensitive, it shines in autumn weather.

Ah, from the good old days, bsck when Harrods would do the gift sets and you could pick them up on offer for just 120.... this or amber pour homme as a my go to safe scent.

Dia Man is superb fragrance for any occasion. The peony is such an underrated note. To be honest, lately, I'm on floral masculine fling and Anucci for men and Dia are in my heavy rotation at the moment 😊

Amouage’s Dia is an olfactory interpretation of elegance.

The 2 of the best scents of Amouage for me are Dia Man and Gold Man.

The literal name of the flower in Dutch is “Peony Rose”, so I have to agree with the rose reference you made 😉 I like them for their appearance. As with the fragrance, subtle is it middle name as far as the scent goes. It takes effort to pick up on its beauty.
