Top 3 fragrance for me. Nothing smells like this. FYI, Amouage now posted on their website the percentage of oils for all their fragrances and maturation/maceration time. Great video

No doubt Overture was created as a very special parting gift for the house of Amouage and its fans. Mr. Chong comes from a classic music background and he must have deliberately picked this name for the fragrance, symbolizing his departure, and a new act. In fact, he seems to stay true to his character, despite trends and standards, with the new Thameen releases. I'm impressed with the fact a British perfume house gave him free hand to go wild and create fragrances that don't necessarily align with the their previous releases. Thank you for this video, Daniel. Although I do not often wear it due to its versatility, I highly appreciate Overture and I consider it one of the more special Amouage had ever created, if not the most!

Christopher Chong looks like a really cool person from the interviews I’ve seen him in and he is not afraid of being real, talking about what inspires him. I would love to try his new Thameen creations but they are quite pricey. I’ll be definitely keeping on eye out 🙂

Incredible fragrance. Sometimes I love it, sometimes its animalistic notes repulse me. It's a bit of a love-hate relationship but that's what makes it so intriguing to me. The first time I sampled it I got goosebumps all over, not many fragrances can truly make you *feel* something like that. To me the grapefruit together with the 'sweaty' cumin and animal notes make this almost body odour-like. Sexy, but in a nasty way, if that makes sense. It is definitely more palatable in the air as opposed to smelling it up close though. Thanks for your insights!

Yess!! I have been waiting for this review. Thank you so much for making it. Yes this is a masterpiece. To me, its not animalic at all. But I understand why some people in the west may be repulsed by Overture man. I am originally from south east asia and this kind of scent is quite normal and acceptable in that part of the world. Its not considered animalic at all and people wear this kind of scent in the humid and hot environment lol. This is a 10/10 fragrance. Cant wait to wear it in the cold weather here in the UK. Plus my wife thinks Overture man is sexy!

I don’t get big animalic notes either, maybe the cumin? But I wouldn’t necessarily define that as animalic. If you go easy on the spray i think this could be worn also in hotter temps 🙂

another long message haha, apologies if you dislike them, i just like the conversation! i tried this side by side one day after another with boundless recently, and i just had to go to ramses' overture video and comment on how i think they're both actually similar enough to me to be considered "cousins" - partly because i know he really dislikes boundless LOL. they are OBVIOUSLY not the same at all but i think Karine V.S. made 2 home-run scents based on a common theme of celebration but under two different intents of either having bold flamboyance or instead having elegant confidence. Both have fantastic openings with bold citruses, spices, varying levels of booziness, and resins -- with an element that drifts down into an equally satisfactory heart and drydown. Overture carries that cognac and cumin along a journey of citrus explosion into a signature amouage incense that lingers before settling on animalic but extremly smooth amber, while boundless carries a chewy elemi resin along with a blood orange and ginger bomb down a path of boozy and almost beeswaxy vanilla settling on a more medicinal dry tobacco and patchouli/papyrus. It makes sense for Karine V.S. of all people to do that while being tasked by Chong and then directly after Salmon respectively. It shows the two creative directors' difference in approach while still having a perfumer's comfort and signature at heart, which is a testament of a great perfumer and house i think. Just wanted to share some of my observations and thoughts with you; thanks for reading if you did! Cheers

@@ethanreres4582 thanks for the comment! I like reading long comments so feel free. I personally see very little resemblance between the two and Boundless’ citrus is quite faint to my nose. To put it simply, Boundless is a mass appealing sweet scent that would not feel out of place within the PDM lineup (ok it’s more complex than that) while Overture is one of the most jarring fragrances I’ve tried.
@SeldomlyOften

And this is just my opinion of course 🙂
@ethanreres4582
@ethanreres4582 3 дня назад
@@SeldomlyOften of course! There's a ton of differences between the two and skin chemistry is also different as well so certain things won't come out as much as others. For me I can definitely see how boundless has a more distinct mass appeal factor, and I think that it's a feature of being tasked to be a bit more subdued and elegant. Its hard not to be with that sort of briefing. But I still pick up a rather healthy dose of cumin, and the sheer amount elemi on my skin comes off as a little weird - and so there were still a couple people in my family that i brought it up to that were a little bit challenged by it. But not nearly as much as overture. I was moreso commenting on the 'framework' of both of them feeling a bit similar to me, but not at all redundant to one another. If I knew nothing about it I think I could tell that both were by the same perfumer. In a way I can see them complimenting eachother in a person's rotation, fitting the mood and environment of not only themselves but the event they're attending throughout a wearing period. Want to stand out that day? Overture has your back. Want to lay a little lower but still have a couple people intrigued when they pass by? Boundless. Haha I hope that makes a little more sense. But again not agreeing is also perfectly fine after all it is one of the brands conventionally more challenging next to more mass appealing so I do understand the polarization on that front

One of my favorite from the house. I'm at around 14 bottles from Amouage now. So far my top 3 varies, but for now it's Jubilation 40, Royal Tobacco and Rose Incense. Rose Incense I feel it's slept on, it's absolutely stunning. It's very similar to MFK Oud Satin Mood but not as sweet. I highly recommend for you to try it.

Awesome frag! But it is very specific. IMO it belongs to the category as Interlude and Myths Man. Very bold very strong and very professional . My top 3 are : Imitation Man, Lyric Man and Jubilation 25 man .

If i blind smell this for the first time i would say its been made by gaultieri due to attraction / repulsion nature. very good fragrance with amazing power. My top 5 from amouage in no particular order are: overture, interlude, jubilation 25extrait, enclave, bracken man. Honorable mention reflection man( not loud enough for my taste) Worst 5 would be: Meander Beach hut man Epic man Lineage Portrayal Special mention purpose( worst fragrance i have ever tried)

What is your opinion about Jubilation XXV Man? More versatile? Easier to wear?
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften 2 месяца назад
Yes, both Jubilation XXV and 40 and easier to wear as they are generally more mass appealing (relatively), not signature scent easy but close.
