Still my go to and favorite subwoofer amplifier to this day. Can't wait until they make and release a more powerful version. 10,000 watt rms cp would be epic.
I agree with the quality of Rockford Fosgate amplifiers. I have some OLD ones, a 1992 Punch 45HD and 1996 Punch 400x4 I bought new back then. Both amps still work great today! Reliability is second to NONE! Other amp brands will come and go, but RF is the benchmark from which other amps are striving for. They have always been ahead of the game, among the first to add MOSFET transistors back in the early 80's. Don't get cheap, pay for the good stuff! #RockfordFanatic4Life
I certainly saw A LOT of punch amps getting absolutely beaten to death when I was in high school back in the mid-90s. I don't think I ever saw anyone kill one no matter how hard they tried and most guys tried pretty damn hard. I couldn't even tell you how many cars I saw running 12" kicker comps and a Punch 200ix after they blew up a couple of Targa 500s. Ahhh... The good old days! haha.
+Maxwelhse I seen plenty back then burn up and have to go back to the dealer for repair ...but it might have been the installation. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Rockford fanatic!
MrSpanky473 I'm sure it happened, but I saw some of the most jenky fuse popping and twisted wires sparking against the trunk installs you can ever imagine a 15 year old accomplishing and never heard of a RF amp failing. It wasn't until someone spent the money on a Punch 500 that they really seemed to care about their install. Then again... plenty of those guys may have been playing amps that were hurt and never even knew it. Who knows? I've never owned an RF amp myself, but I've always had respect for the brand. I always liked more weird stuff (Phoenix Gold, Adcom, Orion, Audio Art, Lanzar, Soundstream, etc) back in the day. I think I just liked to be different.. haha
This amp is a beast! I have one on my 2 15's L7's. The gains are not even at half and the bass is crazy in my 2 door tahoe. Changing my set up soon since I just got 2016 Suburban I will be moving this amp to that truck and add a additional one for 4 15's.
I had one too, powering a 12" Orion HCCA and people thought I had 2 15" subs! This amp IS THE BEST AMP MONEY CAN BUY when it comes reliability and constant power.
Just got a Rockford Punch P400X1. Does 565W @ 2OHM. Just for kicks, I put it down to 1 OHM and it was surprisingly 100% stable over a few hours of music playing. Pushing 800W+ out of this little guy. Rockford kicks ass.
Your videos inspired me to buy a Rockford t1000.1bd for my set up and I couldn't be happier. Even like it better then my old Hifonics zeus 600 from the 90's.
i run one with zv5 15inch sundown and my favorite thing is what i call the warble float ! not sure the frequency but its that wa wa wa wa making the entire car feel like its floating including your body !! WOW SOOOO COOL feels like your riding the sub completely INSANE !
Fosgate was all I used too run back in the 90's. They was always a little more expensive but never had a failure. 4x250m's on 8 punch 15's...150's was loud back in the day.
Love to see another video of Equalizing over Bluetooth through the Rockford Fosgate signal processors. Never know perhaps another minor adjustment may be needed due to stuff and things and wear and tear and other things and stuff :D Makes for a really interesting video of the technical control you have over the overall sound of your system. Just throwing it out there.
ya I got an old school power 360a2 and punch 200a4 and a set of 5.25 fnq components. need to get some rockford 8s and this t2500 and a 3sixty.3 to complete my build. oh and another 2 soundqubed hds315d2 subs.(have 1 now on an old p500x1 I had layin around)
rockford, JL, Kicker etc. will show rated power, they can actually put for example: fosgate 750 watts at 1 ohm. max, but box watts is 1500 watts on box and will still mabey do more at dynamic, so they can put outrageous watts on box and it will do what box says but THEY will not lie because they don't have too. so cost per watt a little more money but worth every penny.
I got one of these brand new. Set the gain and crossover with dd1 and cc1. As soon as I was done the amp went into protect. Unhooked the sub and rca's and it was still in protect. Rockford said to send it back to the dealer. The dealer told me that they have to send it to rockford. Now I have no bass for however long it takes for rockford to do something. Brand new out of the box you'd think I'd just get a replacement. Waited 2 months for fi to build my sub and still can't use it. Might just buy an ia20.1 and sell the rockford whenever it comes back. Grrrr!
Should only take a week and a half. But depends where u live so for people in california expect about a week. Had similar problem. Had this amp go out so I installed backup to save it costs over 400 to fix this bad boy. Finally had amp sent for repair got back in about a week. Went to install had to take out working alpine to install refurbished 2500 that was doa. Only went into protect. Saw needles and blue lights for a few split seconds but that was it. Sent back again under warranty this time and like i said about a week turn around. But the amp is worth the hassle it pounds like no other. I had alpine mrx-m240 x power and that puts out over 2700 watts rms @2 ohm. Great amp but this 2500 is louder still.
well that explains why they ditched the t4000 this is more efficient and has damn near the same power, that was a great test and I'll be using it to educate people on why the Rockford power series is always a good way to go
Just put a t1500-1 in my ride. Big difference in bass. One T2 15 dual 4 and I am hitting a 129 on the spl meter. I think I might do one more sub to drop it down to 1 ohm.
I expected that birth sheet to read a lil bit higher than it did. I bought a RF 1000bd CP about 6 months ago and my birth sheet read 1700 RMS. But doing rated power, consistently, with long term reliability is great and any extra the amp puts out is a plus IMO.
I dont have 14 lol but my one rockford t1500 is def a beast and the dynamic @ 1 ohm is 3k watts. Expensive and had to buy a knob for $35 but I will never buy a different brand. I had the cheaper 1200.1 punch or something I dont recall but it was my fault that amp isnt around no more not rockford. Damn good brand and thanks for the test.
Hell yeah brother best amp I have ever owned. It's so versatile with all subs. Definitely backs up what it talks. Plenty of power when you need it. Very power hungry as well make sure electrical is there power wise cause this baby loves juice!
I thought the CP meant the amp delivered constant power, and not the same wattage across the board at all ohm loads. Like with most amps the wattage goes up and down as it plays depending on the load, whereas the CP keeps the amp pushing at a constant 2500 without it dipping under a heavy load.
RF Power series BDCP are the best subwoofer amps available. With less THD than class D and a shit ton of power across the impedance range they can't be beat
This am is prolly the best Rockford Fosgate amp that has ever been made ever!!!!! I just sold my t20001bd for 1000 bucks and bought this amp the older t20001bd was a bad ass amp as well but I wanted more
I've had old school RF amps like the old Rockford 800/2. I even bought one when they use to sell their products at Best Buy. Sounds like they are sponsoring you. I might be wrong.
Hey man keep up the work love your videos👍 and ive been RF fans since the 90s and there are the first if not one of the first car audio out and one the best....if iam not mastaking they started the car sysrems movement
Im planning on wiring a secondary 14 volt xs battery or 16 volt to my t2500 to get better juice to it. Already have all the upgrades with a 250 amp alternator
I have an old school Phoenix Gold ZPA 0.5 that claimed to have a high current vs. high voltage modes and was supposed to produce the same power regardless (1,000 rated.. this is back in the late 90s so without going to something super huge, that was a powerful amp) of whether it was ran at 1 or 4 ohms. I was always curious to know if it actually did... Any experience with those, Steve?
Hey Steve love the knowledge you have with all the amps & speakers.. I was thinking of getting a fosgate 2500.1, am I gonna need a bunch of stuff to hook it up to my car just to run it? what will I need just to run it? I want to run it at 2ohms with two 18's, any suggestions on the 18's just right for this amp. Thanks
What is dynamic burst power? In another video where the same amplifier was analyzed with the same instrument in dynamic burst rms at 1 ohm the amplifier went into self-protection
Watching your amp Dyno temp start @ 78*F and end @ 120*F... that can't be good for the circuit board soldering. I work in the IT field and build custom gaming rigs. In computers, the cooler the CPU or GPU is the better it performs. Have you ever considered water cooling your amp dyno? Message me if you can, I'd like to ask you a few questions about cooling and the benefits that might be gained on the test bench and in car amps. My certifications are: IT CNS/ISS MCSE/MCSA CCNA CISSP
meade916 if I remember you are running your 2500s at .7 each in the tahoe so your getting way over 3k to each voice coil! makes me want buy a couple fosgate 2500s
I’ve got the t1500 in my Tahoe I have it on two p3 15s how should I wire the subs to get maximum wattage also replacing stock alternator to a high output one
I got a bd1500.1 pushin two duel 2ohm 18" skar zvx in half ohm and it almost hits like a bd2500.1 in 1 ohm no BS think its pushin out about 2800 watts in half ohm
i have that amp it kicks a$$ i also have a 1500bdcp an a 200.2 had the smaller amps longer an havent had 1 prob with them! i had a old skool 200.2 in the late 1990's which prob pushed more then 200 watts too
Steve, do you want to test any SUONO amplifier, is a Mexican Brand of Car Audio, have really goods items, Suono have one amplifier of 3,500 W RMS at 1 ohm, you should be test this amplifier in your amp dyno test... What you thing man?... may be is good idea for your fans in Mexico...
why? that amp will do it's power and then some also! i have tested Sundown amps and they do great! great company too. Choose what works best for you though!
hi, I have been thinking of getting this amp to power my two crossfire 12'' C7 subs but was told that they get very hot, I would like to know whether it is true and what can be done to solve the problem. thank you
my thing is this...what about mid tear amps when they take a beating and just hold up year after year...Evan when they dont do their numbers.????? oh..and dont get the right volts as well...under powerd??????
Hey Steve I'm putting new speakers in my car and am wanting to put Rockford's punches in the back and then the primes in the front is that a good combination or should I put punches in the front and back?
What's the BD sync input for ? Is that how these amps get linked up ? Like JL's master / slave setup ? And are there just 2500BD vs the CP. I'm going to assume Steve only has the CP version in his ride.
What size Allen wrench is needed to open this amp to see the guts?? I own two, and I've tried and tried every size and can't seem to find the right one to open it up. I love these amps, just need to open it up to get a prong that broke off my rcas.
rf power. yow steve is it possibly to do amp dyno on a powerbass amp. i heard stories about them. are they any good. I saw their guts but still not certain.
I'm going to get crap for this one but I love Rockford since I had my punch power DVC and my power 1000 back in 2002 , but it's like having a Taramps Smart 5 with half the Dyno power easy at 4 times the price lol
how do you know? post up your install showing your Taramps smart 5. Your not getting any crap but i only respect opinions of people that actually have had both. I mean if you don't even own a Taramps and you have no system how can anyone take anything you say seriously? You can't just wave pom-poms in the air if you have no experience with either one. Also, once you finally get a "enter favorite brand you never had", hit me up in 10 years let me know if it's still working. Not saying it won't, i'm saying you don't know. Just saying.
Steve aren't you running your amps in the Tahoe at like .7 ohms so in theory they should be making a little more power than what you tested this one at.
hey mead ive been a subscriber for yours for some time now. I was wondering if you could to a amp test tusday on a Rockford Fosgate p1000 1db one of the old ones. if u can get your hand on one. Im asking cause i have 2 fosgate p3 punches and idk if there being pushed to there full by this lownley amp. And i just kinda wanna see the power. Thank you mead if you read this comment.
If he were to answer you he would say they are total garbage. But me, I have experience with them, they are decent amp's if you don't have over a grand to spend on a amp. :D
