Amsterdam streets are generally empty in the first day of year but in 2022 they are even more empty due to the lockdown measures where shops, museums, theaters are closed, restaurants are open only for take-away business. I walk around the old town and canal belt on the first day of the new year. This is a calm and peaceful walking tour around downtown of Amsterdam. Enjoy.. #amsterdam

I was there yesterday. I live in the east of NL. My favourite English food shop was open. I was able to collect something I ordered online. Coffeeshops open to buy. Just sucks there are no people. Though less tourists is always good

If you would have walked around yesterday evening a little more to the east side of the center you would have seen how crowed it was - people (young and old) walking around to see the Amsterdam Light Festival. Bars and Restaurants with small out door stands selling hot drinks to go.. lovely ambiance of people making the best out of this nasty situation. Thank you for filming my city !

Wow.....I watch the walking 🚶‍♂️ and cycling 🚲 tours of Amsterdam all the time.....would love 2go there some day, but I've never seen it so deserted ! It's eerie.

It's rare to have clear days like this. I went the first week of last month and 5 out of the 6 days I was there it was very grey, cold, and rainy.

Ghost town indeed, but still a beautiful day and relaxing being one of the few people on the street. BTW, I hope that was the wind closing that door at 15:00 since no one was near it... 😮

It's been this quiet quite a few times - the spring lockdowns in 2020 were like this, and so was the early 2021 lockdowns too when it was also snowing. This appears to be happening more frequently now because this stupid virus just won't go away. :(

Lockdown and early on the first of January equals very few people up and about. Think I woke up around 14.15, first cup of coffee around 14.30...

They have record numbers of infections now. Shutting the shops and bars had no effect lol. Do you understand this? With the shops closed and less people the numbers are rising lol
