I’m sorry for your loss. This traffic junction can be found in the heart of Amsterdam, very close to my workplace. I cross this place multiple times a week actually. I work at the Rijksmuseum, which lies just across the museum bridge. You can see the museum building in some shots of this video. This video was recorded during morning rush hour, some time during our “Museum Boijmans at Rijksmuseum” exhibition. Because you can see the advert on the side of the museum.

This crossing is designed to handle all of the different modes of transport and is pretty well designed with everyone having their own free flowing section. The other one has very little design and is not meant to handle cars. Bikes and people walking almost never have problems but adding cars in the mix with little space in the city center is always a bit messy which is why they only enter when really needed. Cars are the guest and the others do indeed take priority in tight spaces.
