Before my studio went all digital, a frequent preventative maintenance task on the analog gear was to degauss and clean the head, clean and rubber condition the rollers, and store all media "tails out" by fast forward to the end and eject to avoid self magnetic erasure over time) and make a .WAV lossless audio file backup of each cassette.
Re- your DDI-3 autoboot issues, not sure if you've tried this but check your folder structure. Ensure you have the following files in the root of the SD card - AUTOBOOT.HFE HXCSDFE.CFG FF.CFG INIT_A.CFG The INIT_A file should just have 1 line of text inside - AUTOBOOT.HFE I have the later DDI-5 so this may not be useful, but the FF.CFG that works for me has the following entries: interface = shugart host = unspecified index-suppression = no head-settle-ms = 4 image-on-startup = static extend-image = no
Thanks, I will check that out but I think its a case of the autoboot just doesnt run on my version! Zaxxon did say it was an "inbetween version" of sorts and needed a special update - which I never got....

Yes, I am sure that would have been quicker! It wasn't compatible with Z80 code though, so would have needed a complete new set of software etc. Might have been nice as a 16bit Sinclair machine though!
