In this short video series I start with giving this Amstrad CPC 6128 a good clean up. The CPC is working fine so just some minor repairs, but it is not the best looking with very yellowed keyboard keys and dirty logo. I take the whole lot apart, clean everything up and put it all back together again.
In the second forthcoming part of the video I take a look at some of the addons and accessories to pimp up your 6128!
Parts used in this video:
Contact Cleaner - amzn.to/3jIbWoK
Isopropyl Alcohol - amzn.to/376iBUB
ESD Brushes Kit - amzn.to/3aX3YEc
CompuCleaner Air Duster - amzn.to/3qcu5xg
Jerome Russell Bblonde 40 Vol 12% Peroxide Cream 5ml - amzn.to/373P8dS
Onforu UV Strip Light - amzn.to/3jEGYxs

you could mod a Freeview decoder inside

Yeah very easily. Its actually useful as a RF to HDMI convertor for video capture or just RF input from old consoles in general. Plug the RF cable from a console into the Amstrad MP-3 modulator, then use a CPC plug to Scart cable for 'RGB' output on the MP-3 to connect a OSSC, then HDMI output that to a monitor/capture card. Phew :)

Great video and clean up of the 6128. You didn't mention how you do your retro brighting, do you use a UV lamp or the sun?

As I am in UK we don't get much sun :) So I made a box with UV LEDS. There's more details on it on my video at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CkRi5mGVtYE.html and a bit later there's some more detail on it.

@@RetroGamingBanter Thanks for the info I use pretty much the same technique as I live near Worcester and as you say the UK weather is not brilliant for retrobrighting. I am always keen to learn how other repairer's do it. Thanks for your replies.
