SS-11 has 2x12AH7 tubes, SS-30 uses non-tube JEFT driven preamp. They are both beasts! but I dig the SS-11B, it seems to cover a wide-range of modern amps easily, sounds awesome too.

The SS-11b is a tube based circuit, while the SS-30 is solid state JFET based. Watching the videos it seems that the SS-11b has more clarity on high-gain, but I also got impressed with the SS-30's timbre... it's awesome

TTK. Yes. That riffing sound bad ass. I think it would be perfect for the collaboration project. As luck would have it I hadn't cut the first video yet.. So I will set the project tempo to that tempo.. Chug chug. :)

I've been talking with these guys (AMT) The preamp pedals look great O2, M2, etc...but the SS-11 really has my attention...definitely looking into these for my rig

the main difference between the 2 is that the ss 30 uses a jfet circuit and ss11 uses tubes, and my favourite is the s11 as I love drop tuning and it just sounds bad ass, nice riffing TTK.

SS11b is modern high gain(tube driven) The SS30 is JFET transistor based with a more classic sound

Tone King Contest Day #17: What is the main difference between the SS-11 and the SS-30? Which is you FAV and WHY? The SS-11 uses two high voltage tubes as a preamp. The SS-30 uses JFET as a preamp. The SS-11 with the clean channel is my favorite. It sounds awesome.

The main difference is the SS 30 uses jfets and SS 11 uses tubes. My favorite was the SS 30 it sounded a little more compressed and I like the picking dynamics during the leads.

the main difference is that the SS11B is a (high voltage) dual tube driven pedal and the SS30 Bulava is a Jfet based pedal.....as I heard the Bulava should be pretty much the same as the AMT stonehead 50-4 head but without the 4th channel and in a little box

one is tube based working with 300V, the other has jfets working on 18V.

The SS-11B is tube based while the SS-30 is solid state JFET based. Personally i prefer the SS-11B because of its clarity on high-gain.

The main difference between the two pedals is that the SS-11 is tube based, and the SS-30 is solid state. I prefer the sound of the SS-30, but the SS-11 would do in a pinch. By the way, the sound dropped out at about 13:50 on your video.

The Main difference between the two are: The SS-30 is a solid state/FET (JFET) circuit, and the ss-11b is a tube based circuit, run with 2 12AX7 (ECC-83) tubes. I like em both actually : )

I just looked and this is from 2013. 11a it is. I hope the 11b has that crunch. It will be here in 2 days. I will let you know. It's supposed to be (Modern) version for tuned down,7 and 8 string Guitars. 9 string too for you super djent math metal freaks.Happy Trails.

OK, I've had it for a while now. It's one of the best pre-amp pedals and can hang with the best of the best. Mine is the 11b w/ the yellow. so 11b 2.0. I saw a demo of the SS-20 and I like that pedal pre-amp a lot also.We are in 2020 now and I'll tell you what, a lot of insane gear out there.The KRS Ceres is a nice 3 Channel. 400 Dollar US. I'm good though, plenty O gear. Practice, practice, practice ! Can't have every cool piece of gear out there. What's your thought of James Brown from Amptweaker joining up with EVH ?!?!? Didn't he help design the P-5150 ? Good Guy BTW. I have the TightMetal Pro among many other High Gain Monsters.Peace-

2 things here... 1st Lost audio at 13:50. Reloaded video and tried again with same result. 2nd I like these pedals but I do see an issue with them. If you wanted to put one or both pedals on a pedal board you would have to use a switcher pedal as these pedals do not seem to have an "On-Off" switch so no true bypass. Just something to think about if you want to add one or both to your pedal board. Maybe TK covered that issue in the part of the video that had no audio.

They don't have on/off switches because they are preamp pedals - not effects or distortion pedals. They are meant to be used with a plain power amp or into a guitar amp's effects return so that the amps preamp input is completely bypassed. You never turn them off - you just switch from clean to crunch to lead as you would a 3 channel guitar amp.

Yes I understand all that as being one way of using the preamp units but if you wanted to add them to a pedal board and have more possibilities of tone you would have to use a switching unit. Just something to thing about.

The SS-11 is tube based vs. the SS-30 is solid state (JFET) based. I like the tube sound of the SS-11. Prefer the sound of tubes.

The SS -11B is TUBE DRIVE (MODERN GAIN)..The SS-30 is (CLASSIC GAIN)...I PREFER THE SS-30...I like classic gain and the output options.

Very similar tone to my eat between the two, however, the tubes in the SS-11B (you did say it was the B variant, right?) seem to "breathe" a bit more, a little more clear tone. They sound, again to my ear, like they're built to achieve the same time but by different means (tube circuitry versus JFET circuitry).

The major difference is that the ss30 jfet tubes and the ss11 uses tubes. I really like both of them :) would love to own any of them ;)

I have much less gain on the crunch channel of my SS-30. Are your pickups active? I have DiMarzio Evolution on my 7str and it really lacks gain for metal riffage... I would love to have the crunch channel for riffs and the lead for solos...
