Brilliant to use the micro tweezers for the wicking! I haven’t seen anyone doing that. I think this is by far the most sensible method. I also appreciate that you give details. Hot air temps and air flow. All the extra details matter. Solder amounts on ground pads… you will be my go to.

I am going to try Amtech VS213, I have been looking for a replacement for my no-clean flux which is a knock-off of the 559. It works but it is hard to clean off. You sold me lol Thanks, mike for all your vids they are very helpful for me as a beginner.

I have a suggestion for you Mr Microsoldering. One big reason you don’t have the same following (because I think your videos are better), is because you are camera shy. Your viewers need to see your face to build a relationship. A thumbnail in the corner… please keep posting videos. The details you give are superior to other videos I’ve been watching the last few years.

free forums just mean more adds...no such thing as a free lunch ;) ever. that being said, thank u for increasing the amount of self repair info available to the humble masses.

The new version looks pretty nice. I am lazy to remove the motherboard for an fpc as well but at least I remove the connectors with my iron when battery is in place lol

Most importantly.. What's it smell like Mike ?.. If it's not got that kinda sweet smell like the 559 I don't want it 😀

Not fair, I couldn’t test it with my lab packed in a storage until I find the new home I want, lol. I wonder how it does with 91% alcohol? Usually cheaper and still worked good for the older flux also.

are people going to complain that the 559 flux was expired? not sure, but thanks for the comparison.

Would love to have them JBC nano tweezers but that station costs thousands. I went with Hakko instead because they’re cheaper but the hot tweezers are bad on the hakko.

Does anyone carry the real 213-a in-stock anywhere for a reasonable price?

i use fake amtech rma223 5k idr(30 cent) 😅 but can do the job. but its a flux. want to buy authentic nc559 from us but it cost 15$ + around 100$ shipping😑.

Is this overkill for desoldering/soldering keyboard switches and the occasional arduino or oled screen/controller?
@dephekt_
@dephekt_ 2 года назад
Definitely not overkill. You should always use flux when soldering and desoldering. The flux is there to remove oxides and other impurities from the surfaces of the metals and ensures it flows uniformly. When desoldering, adding some flux to your copper desoldering wick will help ensure the solder flows up the wick. For me, it was a night and day difference using a copper desoldering braid with and without extra flux applied. It's also very cheap so, in my opinion, you should always use of flux and always use a 99+% IPA to clean up before and after.
